Regardless of circumstances without the kpop song it sounds like we’d be looking at a top 3 of all country songs. It’d sure be nice if some country songs sung by women could have this success

I guess with a song like this possibly surging all the way to #1 late in the tracking week, it's bound to get people seething and tensions boilling, it's kind of unavoidable. I certainly am mad about it, but the only thing we can hope for is that it dies down as quickly as possible, and that's the last thing I'll say about this.

Just imagine if it got a full tracking week, this piece of shit song probably would had the BIGGEST SALES week since Adele's "Hello". You can say that the controversy got people to check this, but I feel like there's way too many nasty people in this country.

It’d sure be nice if some country songs sung by women could have this success This might be copium, but I feel like its just a matter of time. New streaming stars in country seem to pop up more and more (take Kahan, for example), and even though Nashville is a sausage fest women can succeed in country. There was I Hope just a few years ago, for example. Hopefully with less Nashville influence on streaming women and POC will be able to have more success in getting spins. |

It drew 34.8 million in audience, up less than 1%, July 14-20, according to Luminate. The cover now solely boasts the longest Country Airplay domination among remakes of pop hits. It passes two three-week leaders: Brooks & Dunn’s cover of “My Maria,” the duo’s ninth of 20 chart-toppers, led for three weeks in May 1996. The song was originally a No. 9 Hot 100 hit for B.W. Stevenson in 1973. Plus, Alan Jackson’s interpretation of Eddie Cochran’s early rock anthem “Summertime Blues” topped Country Airplay for three frames starting in July 1994. Cochran’s original reached No. 8 on the Hot 100 in 1958. After Chapman provided Billboard with a statement revealing how “honored” she was to have a No. 1 on the chart (July 6), Combs replied in kind. “Oh man, ‘Fast Car’ has surprised me more than you can imagine. Tracy Chapman wrote this perfect song that that I first heard with my dad and it has stayed with me since,” Combs told Billboard. “I have played it in my live show now for six-plus years and everyone – I mean everyone – across all these stadiums relates to this song and sings along. That’s the gift of a supernatural songwriter. The success of my cover is unreal, and I think it’s so cool that Tracy is getting recognized and has reached new milestones. In the July 14-20 tracking week, the song increased by 1% to 17.7 million impressions. The Valdosta, Ga., native co-penned the track with Julian Bunetta, Teddy Swims and Josh Thompson. It’s the third single from Rhett’s LP Where We Started, which began at its No. 2 Top Country Albums high in April 2022, becoming his sixth top 10. Beautiful. Yet everyone hates Morgan/Jason. I don’t see anything wrong in the song nor the video as it tells a reality a lot of people don’t wanna talk about because of this. I’m tired of watching the news to see the violence in the streets, can’t even go to the beach because it’s become dangerous, even shootings on the highway, people breaking into houses to steal, rape, kill. But yes, the wrong ones are the ones calling for an actions against violence. Maybe I’m dumb but I’m missing the connection you’re making and your overall point. |

How is it inciting violence if he's saying that violence like car jackings wouldn't happen in a small town. Isn't that a deterant for violence?? I do not think it's okay where he filmed the video though. That part is wrong flat out 100%. So I'm okay with the song, just not okay with the video. |

I'm not saying youre wrong.. but this is my interpretation. But I just think it means that crime is so out of control in big cities that if you tried that in small towns it wouldn't fly. I'm not from a small town by any means, but if someone seen someone committing a crime against an old lady/man or someone defenseless I think most good people would step in. |
