Seven is projected to be #1 on Billboard Hot 100 with 307 points! Sales will be 155k.

I suspect Billboard will be more lax than usual with the "filtering" to ensure sales are high enough that they don't have to deal with a Jason Aldean controversial #1 on Billboard. The "filtering" can be subjective, so we shall see. But it looks like Jung Kook & Latto (with a lot of help from Scooter Braun) has gotten the #1!

everything else aside, BTS ARMY vs MAGA Republicans battling it out for #1 is an objectively funny situation. it's hard to think of two more insane fanatical groups of people. obviously most sane people are rooting for seven to win out. what a weird time for music.

im pretty sure billboard only filters sales on kpop songs

I wonder if Billboard has felt the wrath of The Kooks since Billboard 'exclusively' broke the CMT ban. If not for that report, it would've been like a tree in a forest.

Instead of banning it, CMT could've stopped playing it because the song wasn't that popular.

Anyway, an official statement 'Banning' something -as opposed to not playing it - surefire way to generate publicity because it automatically triggers people's curiosity.

There is no way it's an exact tie of 307 points. How would they decide is #1? Would there be 2 #1s?

I think even the predictors did mention its not an exact tie and there is a margin of difference between them. Ofc we always have to take into account possible minor margins of error predictors can make. But the answer is no there would never be two simultaneous chart toppers on the Hot 100. It will likely never happen because it would create multiple issues in regards to chart data.

This goes all of course for also any other songs on the chart that may be close or identical in points, miniscule differences in calculations for each song prevent ties. There will never be two songs at the same position at the exact same time for that reason.

Many other media outlets besides Billboard reported the ban as well though.

In terms of putting out an official statement of the ban (and this goes for voicing criticism or concern for anything in general really) versus not saying anything about it, I'm not sure the latter is always the best way to go. There are always varying degrees of curiosity and support that will come out in defense of a criticism of something, but the hope is that the speaking out will outweigh the defenders and cause people to see the injustice of the situation and eventually have that voice muted. Unfortunately, this seems to be one of the unusual instances where the defense has far outweighed the initial criticism, but I would say usually that doesn't happen.

Predictors had Levitating at a slight lead due to sales but when billboard officially reported the results, sales were lower than expected due to filtering. Levitating was #2 because of this.
