Rush is exceeding my expectations quite a bit. Seems like the one person that may have gotten anything out of The Idol is Troye Sivan

I don't think The Idol helped Troye Sivan much, but rather the teaser and the concept being queer friendly.

Troye has been growing over the years to a bigger and bigger audience. It would be great if his label saw RUSH resonating and they push it forward instead of letting it die out like his other great singles.

Interesting to note that Seven is not even in the top 200 of Apple Music but did manage to appear in Kworb's Radio Estimates yesterday with a 2.15 audience. None of the new songs by Billie, Post and Troye managed to appear in the latter.

So, why now? These KPOP songs never have this big a debut on streaming.

So, why now? These KPOP songs never have this big a debut on streaming. Jungkook was pretty much building his pop boy image for a while. The Charlie Puth collab. The World Cup. And while this week was big for kpop releases, most groups have done worse than last year on Spotify unless your name is NewJeans. Kpop fans have been waiting for a big happening and it came at the right time. Also this is the first BTS single in a while to have good playlisting.

I think Seven can go too 5, maybe #2 if it doesnβt collapse on streaming, but it isnβt beating Last Night.
Also Cruel Summer is coming now that Karma peaked. 2m AI/day increases now. Happy that the top 10 is seeing movement now.

I think we should all prepare ourselves for it to be predicted to go #1 by the end of the week, just saying

Anecdotal, but I think "Seven" sounds like the perfect hit of nostalgia of the late 90s/early 00s that people are looking for right now. I have no interest in BTS or their solo ventures and I didn't listen to Latto's hit due to Dr. L*ke, but this one was immediate for me.

Let's not pretend that 'Seven' is performing like this because it's a good song or that there's anything organic about its performance lol.. I would hold back on calling it a 'hit' until 2nd week numbers given its likely to plummet to the oblivion.

honestly "Seven" sounds much better than Jimin's song that broke the record for biggest fall from #1 a few months back, so whatever.
Latto is clearly the driving force here, Lattonators? Lattotics? Lattinos? did that. ππ½

I'm not sure how it works.Β Does this include the explicit, clean and instrumental versions?Β Does Spotify considered all versions the same song? Spotify doesn't combine streams so the top streams were for the explicit version of the song only.Β They literally combine streams for every single clean and explicit version ever. You can't possibly think that the explicit version got 16 million streams but the clean/instrumental versions got less than a million? Considering BTS fans are known for streaming in mass every version available - that doesn't make any sense. Spotify allows artists to combine streams for songs that are the same length, which is how explicit/clean versions are always counted together - because they are the same length.

Can we also acknowledge how some of the "notable releases" in the OP of the thread have less than five views on Youtube and some aren't even available on Spotify. I saw one that has zero views, so if the person who is listing these releases isn't checking for it - what makes it notable? I appreciate the effort but like I promise it's okay if random songs aren't included.

So, why now? These KPOP songs never have this big a debut on streaming. because itβs harder to cheat a number one now so they gotta make up for it with streams as much as they can

I thought they were referring to the charts as there've been different cases where clean and explicit versions of a song were separated despite sharing the same lengths. In fairness, Spotify is inconsistent when it comes counts like these

Either way, he'll debut at number 1. 2nd week is the real test to if this a stable song or another fan based song.
