Okay it's notable for those who listen but NOBODY (literally nobody) is listening to multiple songs there, so what does it need to be here for. This is the Hot 100 thread - not the find random songs and post about it thread. It's not a huge deal and I've always felt like Drem should be the one to open the threads because he does a good job of finding releases that are important, especially when some people just make the thread and say "Taylor week" and that's it. My point is maybe some quality control is needed? Nobody would care if Drem omitted some of these songs with a handful of views is all I'm saying.

There was a leak back in early 2020 that had "All of the Girls" (which of course was real and got released a couple months back) and a Cruel Summer remix with Post that was intended to be released after "The Man" single, but of course it all got shelved with Covid and folklore.

Genuinely think it's plausible since Post is doing features for his album rollout (Dial Drunk remix is coming soon), and no doubt Republic/Taylor wants Cruel Summer to launch to #1 and a remix is about the only way that will happen.

I can see it coming out either this Friday or after his album release.

I would love to see how high Cruel Summer could go on it’s own merits, but it’s proven already that it’s a surefire hit without a remix. Top ten on Hot 100 and radio without promo or a MV. I hope if she does have a MV and dance remixes and vinyls she releases them first, gives it a chance to go #1 on it’s own merits before releasing a possible Posty remix.

I think releasing it this Friday would be a bit risky since radio needs to build a bit more, but the week after his album release (assuming Travis/Drake etc aren't dropping) would definitely launch it to #1 imo.

Post is still a streaming force on Spotify - Mourning and Overdrive with no hype debuted with over 1M US streams... a remix of Cruel Summer would be very hyped and could debut with 2M streams which is enough to get it to #1 with moderate stability if released this Friday with a MV (including, crucially, its huge radio updates)

I disagree, the gap with Last Night is just way way too big right now, such that only a remix would work

Firstly, a LOT of physicals would need to be produced which isn't realistic for a single, and there's no guarantee they'd sell super well given it's an old song

Secondly, with website sales not being a thing anymore, digital sales tricks aren't going to work. She'd need a minimum of 100K extra sales even with its airplay gains next week to overcome it - in a month, maybe more like 50K but by then its streaming may have started falling too much. They need to capitalize on this moment quickly.

Thirdly, Karma Remix with current it girl Ice Spice only went #2 with huge consumption gains, but it was clearly the best method. Since the remix was panned, it failed, but I think Post has way better pop sensibilities and the remix would be well-received.

I could see it going #1 on streaming soon even without a remix, and it does seem to be getting some radio play, but I don’t think it’ll get enough of that or sales fast enough to be in contention once the streaming peaks. But then again, if the streaming never peaks and either there is an actual remix dropped or he gets a lot of radio play, he would definitely have a shot to go #1.

I just checked and both Butter and Dynamite debuted around 1.9m on the first day US Spotify and finished with about 9m for the week, so I imagine Seven will do the same. Also neither could go #1 without the 200k+ website sales which Seven won’t have.

Post Malone remix would be great, he has proven he can still get big hits on features/duet.

You Proof still gaining is further *proof* the label missed an opportunity to push it at Pop/Hot AC. It's a bit mindblowing that it still resonates with a lot of folks.

Gunna quietly and, rather, unexpectedly, getting a real hit is a chart surprise. It's also a lot easier to get those extra streams at 2:06.
