What a dystopian and alarming time to watch in pop culture. When white supremacists band together to voice how much they love to spread their hate, we get events like this (as the 2006 election, Charlottesville, and the Insurrection already showed). Never doubt the power of the incels & the bigots. I don't find it surprising really. Those kinds of views are clearly extremely widespread these days. It's got to the point where I pretty much assume white guys are right-wing now, because they almost always are now. I would find it surprising if such a paradigm shift didn't reflect in some way in pop culture.

Yikes at Jason being so high in points. His Spotify streams just fell by 4% and down to #14, so he may be stabilizing, unfortunately.

I bet Jason Aldean will have a long tail. Obviously, these two weeks are unsustainable, but I bet this might be a friends in low places type song that becomes anthemic

Jason Aldean's song will go away once the media finds something else to latch onto, once the controversy dips it's gonna collapse. And it certainly won't have radio to keep it up like Last Night. In a couple weeks Tom MacDonald or someone like that will drop another song about liberals being bad and then the right-wingers will buy that song up.

I think at this point the Jason Aldean song is catching on.. Even when people protested songs this has never happened. Yeah I agree. People are listening to the song over and over because they like it. It’s not gonna go away fast.

By people you mean older white republicans and right wing reactionaries who purchased the song for owning the libs and “victory” of the culture wars and not for the core musical value itself?

I quite like "Seven", gives me Craig David vibes. I hope it'll stick around/get picked up on radio. Its streaming seems to be doing well/remaining fairly stable which is a good sign!

Does anyone know how much streaming Jason Aldean is supposed to do this week?

About 40 million, but it's too early to confirm.

Next week, Dominic Fike's Mona Lisa should be able to enter the Billboard Hot 100.

I agree with your comparison. While listening to Seven I kept thinking it sounds familiar. And 7 Days by Craig Davis popped into my mind.

I think it’s time for the left to counter respond to these bullshit songs.

I still don’t know why Super Shy is not being sent to radio right now. It’s being so consistent on streaming and it’s just as poppy as Cupid.

So what needs to happen for Morgan to take down Lil Nas X at this point?

Radio for Last Night should start consistently dropping within the next week or so. Even if it hovers around 25m streams throughout September, it will be much easier for a new release to debut above it when it is not top 5 on airplay. Assuming enough new releases or something already rising can clear 25k points in a month from now, I see Last Night finishing with like 17 weeks.

Is it a win that Jason Aldean prevents Morgan Wallen from beating Lil Nas X's record though? Silver lining etc.. Not really tbh. Yeah Morgan’s not gonna be able to beat the record now but he’s conceding those weeks at #1 to a song far worse than Last Night is. Last Night lost 0.74 million on radio yesterday! The end is near !! Woot woot Let’s not get that hasty when he still has 96 million radio. Jason Aldean's song will go away once the media finds something else to latch onto, once the controversy dips it's gonna collapse. And it certainly won't have radio to keep it up like Last Night. I don’t think we should be that optimistic. Yeah I agree when the controversy fades it’s gonna dip and it doesn’t have radio but I don’t think that’ll be enough for all of those conservatives and country fans to stop streaming and buying it, which could be enough for it to stick around lower down in the Hot 100. So what needs to happen for Morgan to take down Lil Nas X at this point? Hope Aldean fades from the #1 after this week and then hope Travis, Drake, Cruel Summer, and Olivia (or really any big single for that matter) aren’t gonna be able to beat him.

Unironically I'd prefer Jason Aldean at #1 than Morgan Wallen That's like choosing between which STD you want to get. Underperformed in a day?🤔 This is Pulse. If it isn't an out of the box, immediate smash with a huge amount of points between it and the next song on the chart, it's a flop. but I'm I the only one that just wants Abel to go away completely...... Yes. Ignore him and pretend he doesn't exist anymore. He is dead to me after doing The Idol. He's just a less talented Kenny Chesney That's being really generous though. Kenny is just pretty to look at in very little clothing.

Morgan honestly just needs to hold out one more month to get the record. He’s six weeks away and his streaming is very stable.

Nobody (else) wants Morgan to keep Mariah's seat warm for her when she comes to take back her record. He can find his own seat somewhere far, far away.
