I was hoping "Started From The Bottom" would stay a little longer.
Jack Harlow's "What's Poppin" is pretty cool. I enjoyed it during the pandemic.
Latto's "Energy" will always be a bop, even with Mariah on the remix.

25. This Is America - Childish GambinoBorn at Edwards Air Force Base in California, and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Donald Glover Jr. got his start in the entertainment business as a writer for 30 Rock. He later starred in Community and created the critically-acclaimed series Atlanta. His stage name Childish Gambino came from a Wu-Tang Clan name generator. He released a series of mixtapes before signing with Glassnote where he had hits like "3005", "Me And Your Mama", and "Redbone". He moved to RCA in 2018 and released the single "This Is America" during his appearance on Saturday Night Live. It debuted atop the rap, R&B/Hip Hop, and Hot 100 charts and also hit #1 in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Features background vocals by Young Thug, 21 Savage, Quavo, BlocBoy JB, and Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd, and has been an anthem for the Black Lives Matter movement. It won Grammys for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Rap/Sung Performance, and Best Music Video. Childish Gambino was the first rapper and "This Is America" the first rap song to win for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. Childish Gambino was accused of plagiarism, with some pointing out the similarities between "This Is America" and the Jase Harley song "American Pharaoh". He and his manager have denied those claims. 3005 or Heartbeat would have probably been my 1 or 2, maybe at worst 3. Those are amazing Childish Gambino songs. This Is America is nice too, but those are probably in my top 100 top 200 songs of all time.

23. Unforgettable - French Montana feat. Swae LeeBorn in Morocco and raised in The Bronx, Karim Kharbouch started out as a battle rapper going by the name Young French. He released a few mixtapes before landing record deals with Bad Boy, Maybach Music Group, and later, Epic. His biggest hit came in 2017 with the release of "Unforgettable" featuring Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd. It topped the rap chart and peaked at #2 on the R&B/Hip Hop chart and #3 on the Hot 100. It also made French Montana the first African-born artist to have a song certified diamond. There have been a few remixes of the song, including one that features Mariah Carey. Very surprised to see French Montana to be ranked so high. I didn't think people would like him that much on here.

Very surprised to see French Montana to be ranked so high. I didn't think people would like him that much on here. This is legit the only song from him that most people DO like. Most of his songs, majority of people do not like them. Although to be fair, this song was carried more by Swae Lee than French. Don't Panic is another song that I do actually like from French Montana a lot too though.

What the heck???? Why was this not in the top 10???? It is legit one of the best rap songs, or songs ever, probably in my top 100 favorite songs ever.
That amazing sample of Float On, which I also like that song a lot, the rapping, everything, it's just perfection. Annoymous probably has similar thoughts on this. Dang.

nice top 20, happy to see my #1 in there
Magnolia top 30 is definitely better than I expected, I know Carti fans aren’t particularly common on pulse but he’s one of my favourites

Solo Pusha T got off to an...OK start. But he would do far better later on, starting with the incredible highlights of My Name Is My Name and advancing with the elevated consistency of his last 3 albums, particularly DAYTONA. Lizzo has always sang about as much as she rapped, and IMO she is a little better at singing than rapping. She also tends to write music that I like quite a bit initially but grow tired of eventually. Playboy Carti always seems to be at the forefront of rap experimentation for both vocal affectations and beats. Unfortunately it's been frustrating to follow his career for two reasons-- 1) his work ethic is lacking so you see way less new music from him than you should, and 2) he can't stop screwing up in his personal affairs. B.O.B is fucking garbage outside of this and "Airplanes", and even on those songs, the beat and the feature are the reasons they're acceptable, not him. Not even the original couple years of mixtapes some people defend is worth your time. And even if they were, do I really care to listen to hip hop by a flat-eather and Holocaust denier? Lil Baby has plenty of skill in terms of technique and emotional communication, but he uses it so sparingly it's like he's scared of running out of it or something. Gunna is a goofball with not much skill but he can facilitate some catchy tunes every so often. Maybe one of my less agreeable opinions is that Donald Glover's rap material is mostly pretty bad. It just has this exceedingly lame and off-putting aura. I especially hate "Bonfire" because of how much people have run it into the ground as a meme. "This Is America" is one of the few exceptions. Wale's best work is...probably on the Seinfeld tapes, I guess? His music is otherwise kind of faceless. I'll give French Montana some credit--when his music doesn't hit, it's usually not because it's bad bad, it's just boring. He also has some valuable partnerships he occasionally makes use of to pretty good effect (Max B, Harry Fraud, Rick Ross, Drake, and so on) Almost any artist would love to have the 2-album start Lupe Fiasco did with Food & Liquor and The Cool. Then came Lasers, the 'label mandate cash grab' album he very clearly did not want to make, and ever since then, his career arc has been so weird. He followed that up with a messy 'sequel' to Food & Liquor, pulled himself together for Tetsuo & Youth, immediately fell apart again on DROGAS Light, then made a 'sequel' to that album that was somehow way better. He finally made two good albums back-to-back again with the release of Drill Music in Zion last year, but you can never be sure where the Lupe roller coaster ride is turning next, so... To continue a bit from my comments on Quavo on the first day of reveals: Before the last year and change, I would've said Offset was no doubt the best member of Migos, mostly just because he hadn't diluted his brand as much as Quavo had. But like I said, Quavo has caught back up with the help of the Unc & Phew album and Rocket Power, so Offset needs to really deliver with Set It Off if he wants to stay in that position. "Ric Flair Drip" is far better than "Bad & Boujee", so I'm disappointed the former is out while the latter is still in. FWIW though, I only have top 40s left, so that's not a strong indictment of B&B.

19. Bad And Boujee - MigosMigos was formed in Lawrenceville, Georgia, by Offset, his cousin Quavo, and Quavo's nephew Takeoff (Kirsnick Ball), and originally went by the name Polo Club. They released a few mixtapes and eventually landed their first charted single with "Versace". The group really hit it big with the 2016 release of "Bad And Boujee". The song, which features Lil Uzi Vert, topped the rap, R&B/Hip Hop, and Hot 100 charts, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. The group was rumored to have broken up in 2022 due to a rift between Quavo and Offset, with Quavo implying that Saweetie cheated on him with Offset. Following Takeoff's death months later the two wound up putting aside their differences for a tribute performance. In a recent interview Offset confirmed that the group had broken up, saying that they couldn't go on without Takeoff. 17. Trap Queen - Fetty WapBorn in Paterson, New Jersey, Willie Maxwell II had glaucoma in both of his eyes. Doctors were unable to save his left eye, so he was given an artificial eye. His debut single "Trap Queen" was initially released in 2014, but didn't take off until it was re-released months later, topping the rap chart and peaking at #2 on the R&B/Hip Hop and Hot 100 charts. It received Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. In 2021 Fetty Wap was indicted on conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances. He pled guilty in 2022, and in 2023 was sentenced to six years in prison. Trap Queen overstayed and I love Cudi, but am surprised that song lasted so long, when it is not one of his strongest. Shocked at Bad & Boujee's placement though.

25. This Is America - Childish Gambino: Objectively this is a great/strong song but for some reason, I just never really loved it. I liked it enough to rank it at #57 but I never really had or grew a strong appreciation for this. I feel kinda bad for that. But well done to this on making it to the Top 25.
24. Lotus Flower Bomb - Wale feat. Miguel: I wasn't familiar with this but I liked this enough to rank it at #63. I think I liked this well enough but it wasn't a big favorite for me on first listen. But it could grow on me with more listens.
23. Unforgettable - French Montana feat. Swae Lee: Ughh nooo, sad to lose my #6 just before the Top 20 but getting used to losing my Top 10s now. :'( But yeah, I really love this and this song is such a jam! I've heard this song a lot of the year of its release and just never got tired of this. A great and fun jam, for sure! Pleased that there aren't any Bottom 30 rankings for this though.
22. The Show Goes On - Lupe Fiasco: Ugh, of course just five spots from a perfect ranking and this shows up too soon lol. Also love this song and love it enough to rank it at #17. It's a great, cool and catchy jam from Lupe. Very nice that there aren't any Bottom 25 rankings for this.
21. Ric Flair Drip - Offset & Metro Boomin: Oooh wow, so my #79 beats out a number of my favorite songs here, lol. I didn't care for this song as much as I was hoping to. :( But well done on this ranking so highly here.
Oooof, dang my closeness score is getting lower and worse and worse here as the list continues on, yikes.
20. Just What I Am - Kid Cudi feat. King Chip: I don't remember this but I see this was my #67, so I am sure this is just fine/alright to me but not a major standout.
19. Bad And Boujee - Migos: Fun and super memorable song from Migos. This is the song I would consider their signature hit so I am not surprised to see this rank so highly. I liked this enough to rank it at #43. I've always liked it but never loved or was ever that huge on this. Also wow so many rankings in the 30s spots. :o
18. Mask Off - Future: lol when I saw Future, I had a feeling I was one of the Bottom 20 rankings lol. I am not really much of a Future fan so I ranked this song at #83 as it doesn't really do anything for me.
17. Trap Queen - Fetty Wap: Oooh I really like this song a lot and enough so to give it a #22 ranking. This was a great breakthrough single that put Fetty Wap on the map. Such a jam OMGGG ooooof at all of this stuff Fetty Wap has done and been through in the 2020s. I was wondering what happened to him as he had such a hot career and was everywhere in 2015 and then he fell off the face of the earth.
16. XO TOUR Llif3 - Lil Uzi Vert: I was never that big on this song but I like it and liked it enough to give it a #52 ranking. I am not too surprised to see this getting such a high ranking here as I could see this ranking well here.
