Billboard - Mainstream Top 40 - 2023 Year-End Chart

A couple days ago, I presented my projections for the Mediabase Year-End chart. Today, Billboard. Billboard's 2023 chart year started with the issue dated November 19, 2022 and just came to a close with this week’s charts, dated November 11, 2023. As usual, I'll make adjustments if the date range is not correct.
UPDATE: Billboard’s chart year ended October 21, 2023 (see commentary in the post below). I have adjusted my projections to reflect the shift.
This year's chart looks a bit different. And, certainly, more experimental. In previous years, I was able to accurately tabulate the Billboard year-end rankings. As most of us probably know, Nielsen BDS shut down last November. Billboard, then, switched over to using Mediabase data for tabulating their airplay charts. Now, we no longer have access to the spin data for those charts. Billboard's reporting panel, tracking period, and recurrent rules differ from the published Mediabase chart. So, what I've done, this year, is use a modified inverse point formula to tabulate the rankings. My formula adds bonus points for weeks in the top 10 and at number one. Ties are broken, if possible, by peak position and weeks on the chart. It may not be perfect, but it's the best I can do with what I've got. Despite the difference in tabulation method, I have maintained Billboard's other rule: that only weeks on the chart count towards the year-end tabulation.
For the artist rankings, I diviided the points amongst the performers credited on each track in the same manner that spins were divided, previously. A single-billed artist gets 100% of the points. If there's a featured artist, the lead gets 75% of the points and the featured, 25%. Duets are an even 50/50 split. Etc.
How will this measure up to the actual rankings? We'll find out in a few weeks time.

If these projections are, in any way, representative of the actual chart, then it looks like "Calm Down" should be the clear winner for the #1 song of the year. The fact that Billboard doesn't count recurrent play would skew things a little differently, here, than the published Mediabase rankings would show. "Calm Down" has been in the top 10 since March and has spent the entirety of the chart year in the top 40.
12 songs went to #1 during the 2023 tracking period. "Flowers" and "Cruel Summer" both tie for the longest reign with 10 weeks on top, each. It’s the longest run since The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber's 13 week "Stay" in 2021.
If projections hold, the #1 song of 2022, "As It Was", will finish in the top 10 for 2023, as well. Like the Mediabase chart, it would become the first song to be a year-end top 10 in two different chart years, in the history of the Mainstream Top 40 chart. While Mediabase's recurrent cut-off point is the top 10, songs have to fall out of the top 15 to go recurrent on Billboard. "As It Was" spent a bit more time on this chart slumping down the lower teens before it, finally, went recurrent in June, more than a year after it first hit #1.
On the artist list, Taylor Swift takes top honors as the most played artist of the year. The Weeknd is the top male artist. For new artists, Rema and Coi Leray are the top male and female, respectively. Fifty Fifty are the top ranking group of the year.
UPDATE: Billboard’s chart year ended October 21, 2023 (see commentary in the post below). I have adjusted my projections to reflect the shift.
