Confirmed by a reliable source that the planned music video shot back in September was for "Training Season", which was meant to be the lead single of her upcoming third album instead of "Houdini".

Set to be released in February. www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/25481476/dua-lipa-argylle-training-season/The Sun can also reveal Dua is gearing up to release the follow-up to her recent single Houdini, which will be called Training Season. Houdini peaked at No2 in the UK charts when it was released last November. In Training Season, set for release next month, she sings about playing the field as a single woman. *A source said: "Training Season is the perfect follow on from Houdini. "Itβs very much in the same vein and even has a slight crossover on the lyrics. The track is an electric dance earworm that will no doubt go down a treat with fans.β

Sounds hot from the snippet! I bet US Pop radio jumps on it quickly and drops Houdini.

Im excited to hear this one since it was supposedly the original lead single. Edit: Just heard the snippet, sounds like another bop and Iβm getting Kylie vibes from it.

The incongruence in a span of two days, lol! π
Anyway, just to clarify as I also did on her artist discussion thread here, the reason why I mentioned earlier that Dua is going to do a medley of this (instead of "Dance the Night") and "Houdini" is mainly because she's wearing a navy crewneck on her GRAMMYs rehearsal, which is a part of the "Training Season" merch (there's even an embroidered "training season" there) and many people, including me, think that this is the hint as the mysterious 'track 1' written in the mirror. Regarding the release date, because of the aforementioned, February 2 seemed the most obvious and it was confirmed by a reliable source that her label was going to release the track a day earlier (hence the reason of my 'Out next Thursday' post, but it looks like there was a last minute change of plans and they decided to push it back two more weeks until February 15 to coincide with the release of the bundles (CDs, cassettes and vinyl). This tactic is obviously used to maximize everything on release week and have a good shot to debut atop, most likely in the UK which is still her core market. That said, going back to her GRAMMYs performance, is Dua still performing "Training Season" or "Dance the Night" as the second song? Although everything points out to the latter because it's the song that she's nominated with and they usually want the artists to perform that, I'm not ruling out the possibility of "Training Season" to be performed though. I'm aware that the chances seems very slim now because of the release date (2/1 instead of 2/15), but we have seen artists performing their songs and not putting them on DSPs before and/or immediately after they are done, pulling an OA/OS release. For example, Tate McRae and Justin Timberlake, recently. Although both of them performed "Grave" and "Sanctified", respectively, at SNL, these songs served and/or are serving as a push to their (current) albums, so the fact that "Training Season" is already available for pre-order on digital platforms in advance and Dua's team is pushing the song on TikTok, it makes me think that they want to build up the song until it's finally out.

The falsetto vocals have been living rent free in my head since that snippet debuted on YouTube. I canβt wait for this one.

The post-chorus sounds especially great. But if "Houdini" struggled in the states, not sure this is gonna do any better.
