I'm surpirsed by the receptions on Pulse. This song is basically "California Gurls" but made TikTok-ready. My hope is not high given the performances of her last 2 eras. Yeah, I'm surprised too. But this is still a good song! Maybe they should put out an extended version of this. |

This isn’t that bad tbh. Very simple and kinda basic but kinda has an anthemic, women empowerment vibe like Flowers IMO. Could see this go either way tbh

Is a woman empowerment anthem like "Woman's World" really a song you could imagine a lot of younger girls hyping up on TikTok? Idk. As sad as it is the message and theme read older to me. Not young or fresh.

Someone said this song is only made to appeal to middle aged women who still listen to Fight Song while driving to "Starbies" and, while I don't disagree, I also don't think that is a bad thing necessarily lol. I could see this being slapped in grocery store playlists, zumba, the songs before a high school sporting event starts, and, yes, middle aged women who like Starbucks and Stanley cups. Like, it could work by reaching those audiences and a hit is a hit no matter who is driving it?

I actually really enjoy it, I think she's just getting hate for other reasons.
As far as the GP's reaction, this could have either gone the way of Kesha with an outpouring of positivity, or the way of J Lo with the "burn the rich" attitude. Looks like we're going the latter.
At least her hair is long.

She really risked it all for him and Dr. Luke cooked some straight up 🔥 trash 🔥 for her. Yup. Her weakest lead single and a video that somehow manages to out-wack Swish Swish, especially with that human blow-up doll in the video and then the break in the song and the WTF ending. The funniest part though, as people have mentioned, is that we essentially heard the whole song before the official premiere. There were no surprises whatsoever. So, there was a second verse, I guess. It didn't captivate me any more than "Se-xy Con-fi-dent" did, LOL. I can't believe this is the hill she chose to most likely kill her career on, especially since Dr. Luke is capable of much more than this and he gave her the bare minimum. We'll see what else she has on the album, but it's a no for me, dawg. Her worst lead so far. |
