Bro, this is what rap beef is all about. Just look at some of the other infamous rap beefs like Pac vs Biggie, 50 vs Ja Rule, or even Eminem's several feuds from the 2000s. Hip hop has always been a competitive sport, and it's clear that the fans of the genre wanted this.

Underperformance is relative. Her last lead single spent 10 weeks at #1 and a year in the top 10. Fortnight debuted with 600 points and is going to exit the top 5 within three weeks. For pretty much anyone else, it’s a monster smash, but for Taylor it is an underperformance by her otherworldly standards.

Calling 'Fortnite' an underperformance after 3 weeks is giving 'Vampire is a flop because it's not G4U or Drivers License' discourse. There is a LOT of competition right now and the song could very well stabilize. Not every song is going to be 'Cruel Summer' or 'Anti-Hero'.

I would also be quite surprised if they didn't push at least one more song to radio.

You're saying this as if TTPD hasn't been doing 100M every week. And don't @ me at it just being because of the number of songs, even if we just take the 16 songs from the first half of the album it's still doing 100M. Point me to another album that did 100M in the US alone on its third week.

We get it; you don't like the TTPD being slow. I'm sure you're so original with this thought. But trying to pretend it's not doing well when on its third week it's still doing numbers is a Fox News level of stretch. This is like complaining Avatar: The Way of Water only made $2.3B instead of $2.5B

Uh, well "Fortnight" was always going to be an "underperformance" if people are speaking comparatively to her two biggest Hot 100 hits of all time. They expected her, what, to exceed the success of those with this? It's an unreasonable expectation. This is what I mean when I said she is extraterrestrial. Imagine a single debuting top 15 on radio, spending its first 2 weeks at #1 and people being all "how disappointing!" The album and song has been out 2 weeks. The album has sold 3 million copies. The song has spent its first 2 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. Despite this people are still clamoring for any slight sign of negativity possible because they're eager to call something attached to her a failure. I suppose it's all about perspective and expectations. If someone heard "Fortnight" and expected it to outperform "Cruel Summer" or "Anti-Hero" then yes, I guess it's going to "underperform". I don't think most ever expected that from this single. Even still, it's farrrr too early to be declaring anything a flop or "underperformance" regardless and that's the point. Let the damn project breathe for a second. lol
