The Thursday releases make sense. Katy isn’t a big debut player anymore so a Friday release isn’t as important. It’s better if Katy doesn’t get lost in the new music Friday shuffle. If Katy gets a hit, it’s gonna have to grow over time. I think Shawn Mendes is doing the same today.

I kinda really like this? Yes, I agree with other comments that it doesn't necessarily sound like a hit and lacks substance, but it's a nice little bop for Katy although I wish the bridge would be repeated once more for the finale
The video was cute, too, a little quirky and I liked how she revealed the tracklist (but ☠️☠️☠️ to the pizza throwing being in this video)

I think her time has come and gone. There’s nothing distinctive about this. It might do well in clubs but she needed something stronger for radio or streaming after a slew of flops, especially the Woman’s World fiasco.

I'm vibing with this like I did with Peggy Gou's (It Goes Like) Nanana last summer, even the MVs are similar, but yeaah, this song was clearly made to be a summer hit in Europe and nothing else. Miles better than WW, but I kinda don't want it to be the next single, it reminds me of the 5th or 6th singles from blockbuster albums, when artists are tired/lazy and on tours, and they film something / edit their tour footage just to say thanks to the fans and wrap up the era.
I reallyyyy like it, but it's far from what Katy needs to save this album unfortunately.

Well...I am a little surprised that it took a whopping NINE people (including...Lunchmoney Lewis, for some reason?) to write this, especially given the fact that it's only one verse, a pre-chorus and chorus on a loop, but the production made me move a likkle bit. Wild that the album is coming out in the fall if it's all uptempos and bops, but whatever.

Kind of odd. The chorus/pre-chorus is undeniably catchy, but this doesn't feel like the actual song, more like a remix? Like, the chorus is just looped for 3 minutes. It is good though and the actual remixes will be amazing.

It sounds more like a random DJ collab than an actual Katy Perry song. Buts it's harmless, not mad at it. Love the post chorus.

Miles ahead of WW, but it's pretty vacant. The video is basically LFN in Ibiza.

As much as I'd love Katy to nab a major hit, I just don't see this blowing up at radio after WW. Prove me wrong, please.

Hmm. It’s fine. It’s very repetitive, which isn’t helped by the fact the main part of the song has been posted on her stories so much already. Watching the video, I felt I had already heard the song 100 times, and nothing was a surprise. Even the video.. did they spend the entire budget on Woman’s World? This looks like they spent more money on the pizza than the video. I think I’m finally accepting that Katy is done on radio, which is fine with me as long as the music is still there. If this was on Smile, it would be one of the weaker songs

All of this to say, it sounds very underbaked. And sorry to bring him up again, but she felt the need to work with Dr Luke for THIS?! Anyone with a few tutorials in Ableton could have produced it, and the lyrics are nothing complex

Is it the pop song of the decade? Nah. Is it a cute bop? Yeah. Same as WW, I wish this had a bridge or a little more substance to it.

I genuinely have no idea how this will do — my prediction is that it gets a small debut on the BB100 but I’m not sure it has enough legs to save the era.

I predict this will not touch the Hot 100 with the longest stick there is. It doesn't even fit the general public's taste in the US right now. Should do a bit better in Europe though, especially in the UK where there's always a market for this type of stuff.
