Bad Romance Just Dance Applause Disease Born This Way Stupid Love Perfect Illusion
...but this is splitting hairs. I genuinely like every one of these, even Perfect Illusion (and while it's my least favorite lead single, that weird key change grew on me over time, but I don't revisit the song often).

It's hard to rank Gaga's singles for me now because I almost never go back to her earlier albums because I played them SOOOO much for yeeeears, but accounting for my obsession of each upon their release, it might be something like:
1. Bad Romance 2. Born This Way 3. Applause 4. Disease 5. Stupid Love 6. Just Dance 7. Perfect Illusion
I actually didn't love "Just Dance" when it came out but it grew on me more after I got into her. It's a definite classic though so don't let my placement of it fool anyone. As for "Stupid Love," I actually did love that one when it came out. I think "Disease" benefits from recency bias so once things settle down, it could switch places with "Stupid Love". We'll see.

‘Disease’ is the worst song in her discography!? Songs on ARTPOP and Joanne are saying hi. Her worst lead single at least. Even the previous holder of that title (Stupid Love) wasn't this bad imho, not to mention that was a moderate hit despite the hate it received. Disease on the other hand, lives up to its name I fear.

1. Born This Way 2. Just Dance 3. Bad Romance 4. Applause 5. Stupid Love 6. Disease 7. Perfect Illusion
But I don’t hate any of these songs. They range from love (1-3) to like (4-6) to average (7). I could see Disease possibly passing Stupid Love in the future.

I remember first hearing it (when I visited Canada actually, where it was a smash way ahead of the U.S.) and being like “huh, that’s cute.” Then PF turned me into an instant mega stan overnight, but I never did think super highly of JD back then. Grown in affection for it over the years though.

It was the perfect launch era where every single had something different to offer to people and truly a benchmark of all time in that sense.

Probably not going to return as the GP (and all the public places lol) are shifting towards Christmas songs. I don't see any recent hit notably gaining from previous week (apart from Linkin Park obvs, thanks to the album release). Even That's So True is down 100k week-on-week.

Hopefully it's something catchy and upbeat because this song is definitely not it, and Disease is honestly the worst song in her entire discography. No- no, it is not. The dramatics are crazy. This is still her best single in a long time. If you say so, but as previously noted, I disagree.

this is a good song, but it's a terrible single. Those are two different things. I don't see how one can say this is such a great single choice when it pretty much has a net negative effect on her album rollout so far. Her fanbase will always show up, but this hasn't gained any new fans. The statistics show that. But it's a good album track. It's a good track 11 or 12. An album filler at most.

Today I learned that tracks 11 and 12 on any album shouldn't be up for discussion when it comes to selecting singles.

I personally enjoy Perfect Illusion overall - probably over Disease. I love the verses of PI, but I don't love the "it wasn't laaaauuuuvvvv" part of the chorus. I feel like the overall vibe has a driving urgency to it, and it was something new from Gaga, while Disease feels overwrought and dare I say, reductive. It's The Cure's attention-seeking older sister, lyrically, in 2011 goth-pop cosplay, stylistically. I don't hate Disease, I just don't genuinely enjoy it, even after a few dozen listens. The video didn't help.
Stupid Love and Disease are at the bottom of her leads for me.

I know a bunch of people who all have a different one of the 4 Fame singles they really loved and made them into a big fan of hers. I even know a couple fellow LM friends who say it was LoveGame for them, surprisingly enough.

The Fame is one of the best debut albums this century and it has held up very well over the years. The singles were perfect and there are many strong album cuts. If I had to rank the 4 singles: 1. Poker Face 2. LoveGame 3. Just Dance 4. Paparazzi

Up to #14 with the published update, so that’s good. If it peaks there, I’m ok with it. But 11 is more deserving.

(I feel like Stupid Love is very underrated. It’s so so fun.) I enjoy the production, but my issue has always been the emptiness of the chorus. It feels underbaked with the chopped vocal sample and electronic effects carrying the day instead of any actual lyrics or GaGa hooky nonsense syllables.

Stupid Love is generic mindless fun. I think it was a good choice at that point because Joanne was the opposite. The one big hit was a slow ballad, and the next two biggest singles from that time, PI and The Cure weren't exactly mindless fun either.

Ok this is off topic but has been confusing me for awhile -- why do people sometimes refer to Lady Gaga as GG? I fully thought this was a typo and people meant to write LG, but I've seen GG a bunch of times and am utterly confounded.

Isn't it amazing that she has two songs in the top 15 right now on pop radio, including a #1, despite being "over" for like, the last 10 years? (pleaseignorethatthisonewilllikelycollapseinthenexttwoorthreedays)

I was going to say, impressive that every single made the top 20 but then I forgot about “G.U.Y.” peaking at #32 or something. And “Till It Happens To You” charting for a week at #50.
