This is gonna make the Born This Way/Artpop queens super happy, lol. I like it, very classic Gaga.
Don't expect a huge performance from this, but whatever. It's not always about that.

Classic Gaga down to the overcrowded mix 😂 Sounds great, I get the Government Hooker/Schiesse comparisons but it’s not that similar ultimately. Good work from Cirkut. NIN comparison is spot on, it's like electro rock. THAT SAID it's sent me right back to Government Hooker, what a song set of sounds.

Listening to it more, I will say I’m pretty baffled about this being chosen as the lead. I’m definitely not getting chart hit from repeat listens.
I feel like either she deliberately wanted to go left-field for the first single and is waiting for later to release the “obvious” hits, or this album is going to be another Joanne in terms of not being very mainstream (not in terms of sound).

Instant love for this one. It has a NIN-esque crunch to it that’s just delicious and plays to Gaga’s strengths. Hope it connects! Yes the NIN feel fits her so well! I'll be very curious how this will do, doesn't sound like an obvious choice for radio. However if this can connect I would very much welcome more of this direction from her! At this point in her career I'd prefer her to create music that fits her and let's her experiment, and if she gets a hit then beautiful! If not at least she's creatively fulfilled.

Sounds straight out of The Fame Monster. I'm sure her die hard fans will love it.

Extremely disappointed. It’s very noisy and jarring and not catchy enough to make up for that. However if this is the direction of the album it will be great. Just don’t think this is a very good lead single. Doesn’t even come close to Applause for me. It’s a “for the fans” song for sure.

If Stupid Love (a bop, but not a popular kind of bop) could debut at #5, I have no doubt this has at least a good chance of a top ten debut from curiosity streams alone. It’ll be interesting to see what radio does with it given the tepid climb of DWAS, and the random dropping of ROM The one thing there though is she did in fact have huge momentum from ASIB going into that era, so Stupid Love is what got the benefit of that (kinda wasted imo, but I digress). That and the fact it was super duper inoffensive as a song, while this… well, may not be lol. and stupid love had cd, caseette, vinyl single on first week. (counted as digital sales because it was bundled with digital single)

Pls smash.

Classic Gaga, so good!! I was a little torn on the verses at first, but the chorus hits so hard. I love how the production sounds expensive and thought through. My only complaint is that there is a type of drum that plays through the song in the left ear that is too loud and distracting. Otherwise, I’m in love! I hope we get a video soon

I like it after a few listens. I’m just happy there’s a new album coming.

I remember feeling exactly that with “Born This Way” and eventually, that sound became her signature. I want jarring and noisy from Gaga and she delivered!

The darker stuff from BTW never got the full appreciation it deserved -- Government Hooker, Judas, Heavy Metal Lover ("I want his whiskey mouth all over my blonde south" is still one of her best lyrics ever), SchieBe -- so when Bloody Mary blew up randomly, it would make sense that Gaga would give us a taste of that this era.
I am glad to hear something fresh, that hits hard, and has real energy behind it. The song is pop, but her voice is metal, and its a much more approachable song than other ones shes done before like "Perfect Illusion". I would easily take an entire album of this from her.
From initial online fan reaction and critic reviews - this is being very well received.
EDIT: Also, if "Unholy" with much more jarring beats and lyrics can get a #1 hit, I think there is a place for this type of production on pop charts

This is much darker than I was expecting but it definitely gives classic Gaga and sounds like something from Born This Way or Artpop. It was a bit jarring on the first listen but I warmed up to it on second listen. The bridge and final chorus is my favorite part but the pre-chorus is very catchy and sounds TikTok ready. The fans are gonna love this but it doesn’t scream smash hit to me.

Took me a couple of listens, but I like this song a lot. I feel a mix of Born This Way and Bloody Mary from this
I'm not sure if this will be a hit or not, but I'm hoping it does

If this is the lead single, we can assume this song will be sent for adds on pop and should be moved to CHR/Pop forum, no?

It’s not bad, but not what I was hoping for.
I enjoy the darker side of Gaga but I really do miss the fun side.
edit: Happy Mistake would fit next to this nicely. The chorus is the highlight for me, but don’t love the verses.

Yes, we can assume the following should happen, but there are few instances where it's not. I mean, "I Luv It" by Camila Cabello with Playboi Carti and "Von Dutch" by Charli XCX were the lead singles from C,XOXO and Brat, respectively, but they're weren't pushed to radio. I'm aware Charlotte is an extreme case and can't be comparable here, but it should be taken into consideration. However, the aforementioned can be ditched. This is being sent to Pop and it goes for adds now.

This is very Fame Monster / Born this Way and I love her for that. It's a nice throwback to that sound but it doesn't feel dated.
I don't think it's necessarily gonna be a hit, sadly.

Right? Crazy that people can find a way to find this disappointing… easily one of her best singles in a decade.

**puts mf paws up**
10 years overdue, but it’s worth the wait. Genuinely excited for a Gaga era and world domination. What a fucking icon. Dropping this like she doesn’t miss a beat since Born This Way.

So two observations: 1. This is wonderful. A true return to form. 2. This will never be a big CHR pop hit lol.
