The Weeknd should’ve released the snippet that has Playboi Carti instead since that generated the most hype from the São Paulo concert.

Dancing in the Flames is used in a lot of Apple/iPhone promo these past few days. Dunno if its just Youtube ads, but that might be a reason why it bounces back well after the weak 2nd day. Do remember that people would have to listen to the ad and got interested in the song itself for it to translate to streaming boost, so it seems to be connecting the song had a very decline day to day once they reduced the amount of youtube ads. song isn't connecting that much. it still has a chance in the long run but it's getting heavily promoted with autoplay and youtube ads.

I’m surprised the Lady GaGa/BM song isn’t making a bigger push on radio.

What he needs to do is get his ass out there and promote the track like After Hours, do a late night run, play SNL, do something. It's like he expected Apple to just do it all for him.

All Red has dropped from #1 to #26 on Apple Music in less than a week. Have we ever seen such a drastic drop before?

It's kinda sad to see acts like Abel and Miley who did so much creative promo during a pandemic yet these days they just do nothing. Abel doing late night performances is what got Blinding Lights off the ground, the song had mediocre debut numbers but within days he was up on Colbert performing the track, he performed at Kimmel a month later when the MV dropped and the song started really picking up steam, he then performed again on television on SNL right before the album dropped and sent it to #1. He has not done anything like that since the After Hours era, he's let all his tracks just coast and it's obviously not working since his solo songs in the last 3 years have sorta just done nothing. He needs to get to work and promote his singles again, he's a huge artist but he isn't Taylor Swift. Even without the GP, Taylor can get her floppiest of tracks to sit on the Hot 100 for 20 weeks because of how big and dedicated her fanbase is, The Weeknd can't do that and I love him but that's the truth. I mean promo didn’t hurt ofc, but BL was one of the most “destined to smash” songs I’ve ever heard. Can’t imagine it wouldn’t have caught on inevitably. The reason for the slow-ish start is bc Heartless was still relatively new and climbing on radio when he put it out. It’s almost like he/the label just intended to be a promo single at first not a proper one (l o l).

late night/live performance performance oesn't do much nowadays outside breaking artists.
his label is heavily promoting the single with the type of promo that's most effective nowadays. autoplay, youtube ads, and other adveristments.
the interest simply isn't there.

Sao Paulo with Anitta is going semi-viral on TikTok and Timeless with Carti is one of the most hyped tracks from the album at the moment, Trump even used it in a TikTok lmaooo, I wouldn't be shocked if he does a duel-release since both tracks have more momentum than DITF. Meanwhile an alleged leaker on The Weeknd's subreddit mentioned next Friday the second single is coming and it's another Max Martin cut.

It's a testament to how fragmented the social media experience is that I have no idea about any of the viral things you just mentioned lol. So far I'd say this is the least hype I've ever felt for an Abel album since The Hills turned him into an A Lister.

Meanwhile an alleged leaker on The Weeknd's subreddit mentioned next Friday the second single is coming and it's another Max Martin cut. Tbh i never thought DITF would be a good lead single choice. Wake Me Up, Timeless, and Sao Paulo were way much better single choices to choose from. It’s been known that Abel doesn’t exactly do best when it comes to lead singles. BBTM had Often, but The Hills/Can’t Feel My Face were the bigger songs, Starboy arguably did pretty well on its own, but Die For You is a weird case as it kind of did better on the charts a whole 6-7 years later. After Hours with Heartless but BL/SYT were the bigger hits. MDM with Call Out My Name and Dawn FM with TMB seems like the exceptions but only because those eras underperformed due to them being dropped all at once and had no other hits. I don’t think its fair to write off the HUT era just yet because if this pattern shows anything, it’s that Abel could see a huge hit from it.

Taste stays on top for a fourth week in a row, and with only a 3.52% drop this week, there seems to be sign of stopping its reign. Certainly not from any other song in the Top 10, although we did get a debut in the Top 5 with Playboi Carti's ALL RED debuting with 11.8M after a ton of hype, almost a full year's worth. It didn't have much longevity throughout the week so it does look like it'll be a frontloaded debut.
The Emptiness Machine was done 27.17% with was more than I expected for Linkin Park's comeback given all the controversy surrounding Emily. No Face falls back by 17.76% while Neva Play was down 18.07%. Shoort N' Sweet also has another great hold this week, only dropping 11.44% in its FOURTH week.
Aside from Playboi Carti, we had two other big debuts. Worrying news for The Weeknd who's big comeback single barely debuts in the Top 20 with 6.4M. It may be more evidence The Weeknd has peaked commercially, even though he remains a popular artist. On the other hand, Tate McRae's newest single - I'm ok It's ok - had a decent debut with 7M and is holding up well. The newest remix for BRAT - Talk talk with Troye Sivan - underwhelmed with only 2.9M in its debut week.
Notable Gains: Casual - 16.82% Shut up My Moms Calling - 15.88% Pink Pony Club - 14.17% exes - 13.85% My Love Mine All Mine - 13.76% LA PATRULLA - 12.94% Beautiful Crazy - 12.66% I Love You, I'm Sorry - 10.62% Work Song - 10.21% Beautiful Things - 10.21% Si No Quieres No - 9.74% Something in the Orange - 9.51%

Dancing in the Flames is used in a lot of Apple/iPhone promo these past few days. Dunno if its just Youtube ads, but that might be a reason why it bounces back well after the weak 2nd day. Do remember that people would have to listen to the ad and got interested in the song itself for it to translate to streaming boost, so it seems to be connecting final count for the week on US Youtube: 47 NEW The Weeknd - Dancing In The Flames 1,788,868

Country superstar Morgan Wallen made history this weekend with two sold-out performances at Knoxville’s Neyland Stadium, marking the largest weekend turnout ever recorded at the venue. With a combined 156,161 fans in attendance across both nights, Wallen shattered the previous record of 148,407, held by The Jackson 5 from their three-show stint in 1984. It's so weird seeing "A Bar Song" and "I Had Some Help" still as the top 2. And "Lose Control" back up to #7?! Come through new songs! "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" reigns, while "Good Luck, Babe!" jumps to No. 4.
Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” earns an 11th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, extending 2024’s longest command.
The hit, which became the Virginia-born singer-songwriter’s first Hot 100 No. 1 in July, is one of just five songs to reign for 11 or more weeks this decade, and the first since another country/pop crossover smash, Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” dominated for 16 weeks in March-August 2023.
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” also furthers the longest No. 1 run on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart this year, logging a 15th week in the top spot.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated Sept. 28, 2024) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, Sept. 24). For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram. Luminate, the independent data provider to the Billboard charts, completes a thorough review of all data submissions used in compiling the weekly chart rankings. Luminate reviews and authenticates data. In partnership with Billboard, data deemed suspicious or unverifiable is removed, using established criteria, before final chart calculations are made and published. ‘Tipsy’ Airplay, Streams & Sales “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” on American Dogwood/EMPIRE (with country radio promotion by Magnolia Music), totaled 75.3 million radio airplay audience impressions (down 2%), 28.7 million official streams (down 2%) and 9,000 sold (down 7%) in the United States Sept. 13-19. The track holds for an eighth week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart; rebounds from No. 2 for a sixth week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs; and dips 2-3 following 13 weeks at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales. Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot 100 in 2024 “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” extends the longest Hot 100 rule this year, and is one week away from doubling up on its closest competitor. Here’s a look at the songs that have led for multiple weeks since January: 11 weeks, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, beginning July 13 6, “I Had Some Help,” Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen, beginning May 25 5, “Lovin On Me,” Jack Harlow (*6 total weeks at No. 1, beginning Dec. 2, 2023) 3, “Like That,” Future, Metro Boomin & Kendrick Lamar, beginning April 6 2, “Not Like Us,” Kendrick Lamar, beginning May 18 2, “Fortnight,” Taylor Swift feat. Post Malone, beginning May 4 2, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Beyoncé, beginning March 2 Hits With the Most Weeks at No. 1 This Decade Meanwhile, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” ties for the fourth-most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in the 2020s. Here’s a recap: 16 weeks, “Last Night,” Morgan Wallen, 2023 15, “As It Was,” Harry Styles, 2022 12, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey, 2020-23 (*14 total weeks at No. 1, including its first two on charts dated in December 2019) 11 (to date), “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, 2024 11, “The Box,” Roddy Ricch, 2020 10, “Easy on Me,” Adele, 2021 10, “Butter,” BTS, 2021 “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is one of an elite 30 No. 1s in the Hot 100’s 66-year history to run up 11 or more weeks on top – an honor that just over 2.5% of all No. 1s have achieved. All 30 such hits have led since the chart adopted electronically-monitored Luminate data in November 1991, at which point longer reigns than before subsequently became more common; since then, a still-select 7% of all No. 1s have led for 11 or more weeks.
Chappell Roan’s First Top 5 Hit
Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” surges 7-4 on the Hot 100, surpassing its prior No. 6 high to become her first top five hit.
The song drew 22.3 million streams, up 10%, and sold 4,000, up 20%, Sept. 13-19; the Missouri native performed it Sept. 11 at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, where she also won for best new artist. The track additionally tallied 47.7 million in airplay audience (down 1%).
On the Sept. 21-dated Pop Airplay chart, the song became Chappell Roan’s first No. 1 on any Billboard radio ranking.
Feeling ‘luck’-y: “Good Luck, Babe!” becomes only the fifth top five Hot 100 hit with “luck,” or a variation, in its title. Chappell Roan joins a star-studded group of acts to enjoy such fortune – and she and Elvis Presley (and the Jordanaires) are now the only acts with top five hits with both “good” and “luck” in their titles:
“Good Luck, Babe!,” Chappell Roan, No. 4 (to date), 2024 “Get Lucky,” Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams, No. 2, 2013 “Lucky Star,” Madonna, No. 4, 1984 “With a Little Luck,” Wings, No. 1 (two weeks), 1978 “Good Luck Charm,” Elvis Presley with the Jordanaires, No. 1 (two weeks), 1962
(“Babe” steps: Meanwhile, “babe” appears in the title of a top five Hot 100 hit for the first time in 45 years, since Styx’s “Babe,” which ruled for two weeks in 1979.)
Rest of the Top 10: 'I Had Some Help' & More Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, keeps at No. 2 on the Hot 100, following six weeks at No. 1 beginning upon its debut in May. Sabrina Carpenter charts three songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, all from her album Short n’ Sweet, for a fourth consecutive week: “Espresso” holds at its No. 3 high; “Taste” drops 6-8 after it debuted at its No. 2 peak; and “Please Please Please,” which led for a week in June, slips 8-9. Carpenter is the first artist this year to log four weeks with three simultaneous top 10s; Taylor Swift ranks second with two such frames. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” descends 4-5 on the Hot 100, four weeks after it debuted at its No. 3 best. Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” holds at its No. 5 Hot 100 high, as it tops the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a seventh week each. Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March, rises 9-7. Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” repeats at No. 10, following two weeks at No. 1 in May and July, as it leads the multimetric Hot Rap Songs chart for a 19th week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a 17th week.
