Is Kelly Clarkson for "Breakaway" eligible? Is it a joke to even consider that? I know "Miss Independent" was nominated last year, so I have to think that Kelly could maybe get in for Female Pop Vocal. But I suppose there is too much competition for this song to get nominated. Just a thought. i think it will definately get the nomination. Its a big hit for her and i think its a definately nominee...maybe even a strong contender to win.

What about?? Lashelle Griffin - Free Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance Yes, I had forgotten about this one. Lachell gave a STELLAR vocal performance of this song. I think that she could also get some Gospel nomination, because she has charted on the Gospel charts. She is the type of artist that may pull an upset and win!

EnVogues album "soulflower" was submitted for Grammy consideration. Not sure which song they chose for the group category, probably "loosin my mind" or "ooh boy" but does anyone think they have a chance? The Grammys really liked them in the past. They have been nominated toooooo many times and never won.

Ciara is going to get a Best New Artist nomination. Ray Charles is emerging as the frontrunner of Album of the Year. Alicia Keys is the frontrunner for ROTY & SOTY. Avril will be nominated for SOTY for the 3rd straight year. Kelly Clarkson is likely to be the first Idol to win a Grammy. Alicia will dominate the R&B awards.

All I know is Monica's "U Should've Known Better" BETTER recieve a nod for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Vocal Performance Female.
Karen Clark Sheard should recieve some Gospel nods too. "The Heavens Are Telling" is the bomb!

i am so hoping Tamyra Gray is nominated . Her album "The Dreamer " is to good to be ignored . :-*Tamyra's label unfortunatlly does not seem intrested in releasing a followup single to "Raindrops Will Fall" :'( so hopefully nominating that or maybe "Legend" which many of Tamyra's fans feel should be the second single would help her label realize they have a hit on their hand and release and promote it.

SOTY, she likely wont even be considered. Female pop performance she has a chance Nominations came out the first week of December last year I believe Kelly won't be considered for SOTY because she didn't write the song. Avril, however, has been nominated in this category for two years running, so there is a good chance she will make it three years in a row.

I'm a huge Kelly fan and know it won't be considered for SOTY. The only award I see her getting a possible nomination is Female Pop Vocal Performance

I think some of you are underestimating the power of Avril Lavigne. A SOTY nomination has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with Kelly. I don't it will get a nomination because it's a great song, but the blue ribbon panel absolutely loves Avril. They will definitely nominate her.
It was down to "My Happy Ending" or "Breakaway", so I went with "Breakaway". I still think it'll be there.

Do the Grammies have special soundtrack categories? I could see "Breakaway" going there. Female pop vocal could have both "My Happy Ending" and "Breakaway". Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" won over the Xtina-penned "Miss Independent" last time.
If they actually nominate Ashlee Simpson after that SNL disaster, I think i'll vomit.
CLAY AIKEN "SOLITAIRE" FOR POP MALE VOCAL PERFORMANCE!!!

As far as I'm concerned, they might as well throw 4 darts at a dart board to fill out the Song of the Year category, since anything other than If I Ain't Got You winning would be the biggest upset since, well, last month (Sox/Yanks, anyone?)

The nominations are on December 7th. E! Entertainment will be air them live as they are announced---11:30 AM Eastern and 8:30 AM Pacific... The only name you have to know this year is usher, usher, usher...we'll have to wait and see if he has his shirt on when he arrives to the ceremony...

Yeah, If I Ain't Got You should definetly win but I really hope Britney's Everytime gets a nomination in that category.

Is anyone forgetting "The Voice Within" ??? Sure it wasn't No. 1 for an endless amount of weeks but it's surely is a contender. Granted it was a fifth single but I definately see this being nominated for "Female Pop Vocal" or "Song of the Year". Quiz: Does anyone know the ONLY female singer to win both Female Pop Vocal and R&B Vocal Performance in the same year? And what were the song(s). The first person who wins gets a prize.
