I don't even think she will. Joss is unbeatable. Her & Joss are totally different types of music. And with a voice like hers, shes destined to crack the US.

She hasn't even broken the US yet. I don't even think she will. Joss is unbeatable. Why would you think that Delta won't crack America? Have you even heard her music? How is Joss unbeatable? Her album is only 'Gold' in America, still not 'Gold' in Australia and has only done mildly well in Britain. While in Australia Delta's album, "Innocent Eyes", has gone 15X Platinum and spawned 5 #1 singles while the album has also gone 3X Platinum in Britain and done well in a variety of other nations. Delta is a top priority for Sony USA and has had several meetings with it's CEO *including being flown to the Grammys for a meeting* and has signed with a U.S. management company. She's going to do very well in America.

If Delta doesn't release an album until July, she'll have to debut huge, which new artists rarely do. And check out the billboard charts, and you'll notice that Joss is slowly and steadily climbing the album charts. Oh, and I have heard Delta, nothing special. "Lost Without You" sounds like watered down Avril.

Joss Stone has a good shot at picking up Best New Artist. Norah Jones and Alicia Keys should sccop at least a couple. Britney Spears will not win Record of the Year and will not get a nomination there. Its a horrible pop song and she doesn't even sing on it. No one takes her seriously and she's never even won a Grammy before. Evanescence has a great shot at ROTY and rightfully so.

Dorr - Joss & Delta are TOTALLY different types of music, and if an album can go 18x Platinum in the rest of the world...chances are, itll do well here. Download "Born To Try" and give it a listen

Evanescence has a great shot at ROTY and rightfully so. Do you think that My Immortal could double for song of the year? How many songs double for record and song of the year? The last artist to do that was Norah and before that U2. I doubt they will because Norah and Alicia could likely be in those categories and we all know how the Grammies love those two artists. How could I forget Joss? She has a chance at Best New Artist, but her album was just a bunch of covers. I don't think the Grammies will be looking at her as much as other female artists at least not yet.

I can't believe all the credit this girl gets and all she has out is an album of covers.

The album of covers was only meant to be a demo album to get Joss a record deal. She will have a proper studio album well before the end of the eligibility period, and "Fell in Love With a Boy" is the only song that will be released from "The Soul Sessions"

Hopefully Jet will get a nomination for Best New Artist or Best Rock Performance or Album, their debut is amazing. ROTY is tough, it's between Evanescence, Norah, Alicia, & No Doubt, I'm going to say No Doubt out of those four, if nominated.

In my opinion I think people need to stop sucking-up to Norah Jones. She's good, but she's not that good. I would not have given her five Grammys for her last album. I've listened to it and it was no "album of the year." I really think Britney should be in the lead now for Best Female Pop Vocal performance and Best Pop Album, but I'm a little biased ;).
Thanks, Ben

"Toxic" should get nominated for Record The Year. Its a definite fan and critic favorite not to mention the fact that this is very different than cheese like "With You" or "Dont Tell Me". I would also love to see her get nods for Best Pop Vocal Performance for "Everytime" or "Toxic", Pop Collaboration with Madonna for "MATM" along with a dance recording nod and her album "In The Zone" getting nominated for Best Pop Album.

I hope The Corrs get a nomination or two for their single and album. They've already been nominated before for Breathless and an instrumental from In Blue.
I like Joss Stone up until the point when VH1 shoved her down my throat by playing her video non-stop.

I'd add Eric Clapton to the Male Rock category. Also Sheryl Crow's bound to get a nom for "First Cut..." don't know if she'll go rock or pop though.
Other potential females: Butterfly Boucher for "Another White Dash" and Carina Round for "In My Blood".
I'll attempt country:
FEMALE COUNTRY VOCAL PERFORMANCE Martina McBride, "How Far" Loretta Lynn, "Have Mercy" Gretchen Wilson, "Redneck Woman" Mary Chapin Carpenter, "What Would You Say To Me" Reba McEntire, "Somebody" Lee Ann Womack, "The Wrong Girl"
MALE COUNTRY VOCAL PERFORMANCE Kenny Chesney, "There Goes My Life" Tim McGraw, "Watch The Wind Blow By" Alan Jackson, "Remember When" Keith Urban, "You'll Think Of Me" Toby Keith, "American Soldier"
COUNTRY DUO/GROUP PERFORMANCE: Rascal Flatts, "Mayberry" Brooks & Dunn, "You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl" Lonestar, "Let's Be Us Again" SheDaisy, "Passenger Seat" Montgomery Gentry, "Hell Yeah"
COUNTRY ALBUM: Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose Kenny Chesney - When The Sun Goes Down
COUNTRY COLLABORATION WITH VOCALS: Brad Paisley/Alison Krauss, "Whiskey Lullaby" Loretta Lynn/Jack White, "Portland, Oregon" Kenny Chesney/Uncle Kracker, "When The Sun Goes Down"

I agree with the poster who said "Toxic," won't get a nod for Best Female Vocal Performance...but I do think that "Breathe On Me" could have a shot there.
However, I am saying it now...I do think Toxic will nab Britney her first Grammy. Unfortunately, it won't be aired...I think she will win the Dance Song of the Year, the award Kylie picked up last year.

I bet "Breathe On Me" could fit in the Dance category as well, too. And doesn't the Grammy committee pick which awards are televised? It's probably an insanely long shot, but Best Dance Recording could get televised ;). Thanks, Ben

I thought that qualified last year and didn't make the "cut". I remember feeling disappointed. But his album just came out three weeks ago. I don't know how anyone could say "Toxic" isn't a contender in Female Pop Vocal. If "Overprotected" can get a nom, God knows "Toxic" should easily be able.

But his album just came out three weeks ago. I was talking about Sheryl Crow, hence the pun on "cut". I quoted more than I should have, tho.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mindy Smith get a couple of country nominations. She seems like a Grammy type

I actually see Britney being one of the biggest nominee's for the 2005 show. I could see
Record Of The Year: Toxic Song Of The Year: Toxic Best Female Pop Vocal Performance "Everytime" or "Toxic" Best Pop Collaboration: Me Against The Music Ft Madonna Best Dance Recording "Me Against The Music" or definitely "Breathe On Me" if she releases it. Best Pop Album : "In The Zone"
I also see Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Kanye West, and Usher also being big contenders

Agreed. The only way it won't get nominated is if they push Everytime instead. I can't see them push Everytime. Toxic will likely remain the most successful of the two so they'll probably push Toxic. It's the better of the two IMHO anyway.

And Song of the Year is the songwriter's award, so that means that the lyrics make-up a big part of the song. I really don't think "Toxic" is lyrically a "song of the year." Record of the Year, as of right now, maybe so, but once more songs get released "Toxic" will soon be forgotten. Thanks, Ben

Out of the record of the year candidates, the only three that I see getting a song of the year nod are:
Alicia Keys-You Don't Know My Name Norah Jones-Sunrise Evanescence-My Immortal
If anything, I think Toxic would probably be more likely to get nominated for Record of the Year.

I don't see MATM getting recognized, it wasn't that good of a song or that sizeable of a hit.

Thanks, Ben I dont see Toxic as being forgettin by the time nominations go in. The labels are also apart of the whole Grammy commitee and labels have a lot to do with getting their artists in for consideration. Saying Toxic will be forgotten is like saying "lose yourself" would have been forgotten this year and it certainly wasn't forgotten. I think Brintey will be one of the biggest nominees but I think she will only win 1 maybe 2. Britneys win will probably come from Me Against The Music for best Dace Recording, Madonna has quickly become and Grammy fovorite since Ray Of Light and the song was a excellent dance number, also Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals can go for "Me Against the Music" or "I got that boom boom" with the Ying Yang twins, since that category is normally for pop artists who collaborate with hip hop or another genre like Sting and Mary J. who won last year.

I don't think "Toxic" has a shot in hell at Song of the Year. Record of the Year is a possiblity, but even it's iffy.
MATM is probably a lock for Pop Collaboration and they could choose to submit either MATM or Toxic in Dance Recording. Either should be able to pull a nom and potentially a win.
