BEST FEMALE POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE Britney Spears, "Toxic" Avril Lavigne "Don't Tell Me" Norah Jones, "Sunrise" Joss Stone, "Fell In Love With A Boy" Jojo "Leave (Get Out)" ? Sarah McLachlan "Fallen" Sheryl Crown "The First Cut Is The Deepest" "Fallen" is not eligible. It was up this year and lost to Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful".

Thanks, Ben Britney cannot submit "Toxic" in two different genres of music. So if she goes pop with "Toxic", that song can't go dance too. It seems more likely her record company will submit "Toxic" to dance and "Everytime" to pop to maximize ther nominations.

"Me Against the Music" will probably go Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals Yup madonna has gotten a nomination and won every year she put material out since Ray of light, with the exception of this year. Britney has been nominated every year she has been able to be nominated. Put it together and i think they will win

ROFL! Some of you guys are deluded. Britney will get hardly any noms, nevermind win. They constantly struggle to maintain their reputation, especially after Milli Vanilli, and wouldn't risk throwing it away. Besides, she can't even win a VMA.

She has been nominated 4 or 5 times already. twice for pop vocal performance. once for best new artist. and another for best pop vocal album. Considering the ITZ is better then anything she has ever done she wont have a problem sweeping the pop nominations......winning is another story. but i think Britney will win her fist grammy his year.

Britney has scored six nominations in the past. The general feeling is that is overdue, not that she would ruin the repuation of NARAS.

I could see "Toxic" going dance as well, but I'd prefer they keep it in the pop categories since it's the superior song and the pop categories are higher profile than the dance. Perhaps they can submit "Outrageous" in the Dance categories.

But if they want it to go for pop collab then i guess it cant go to dance.....

Do you think that J Records would push If I Ain't Got You for Alicia Keys instead of You Don't Know My Name?
I was thinking that because If I Ain't Got You is Alicia's most successful pop single since Fallin'.

Well for best r&b song they dont have a choice but to push "u dont know my name" because that category is for the 1st single off the album only. As far as the other categories.....i dunno. Usually the 1st single is the one that gets the most nominaions anyway eventhough other songs are able tobe nominated as well. But seeing as how there is not much of a difference in the 2 songs vocaly.....i only see them pushing her 1st single for the vocal performance categories and Record of the year.

No it's not. In 1999 Whitney Houston's "Heartbreak Hotel" and "It's Not Right, But It's Okay" were both nominated for Best R&B Song. In 1997 "Exhale (Shoop Shoop) and "Sittin' Up In My Room" were both nominated. 1996: TLC's "Creep" and "Red Light Special" were both nominated. 1994: Luther Vandross is nominated for "Little Miracles (Happen Every Day)" and "Heaven Knows".

Category 3 Song Of The Year (A Songwriter(s) Award. A song is eligible if it was first released or if it first achieved prominence during the Eligibility Year. (Artist names appear in parenthesis.) Singles or Tracks only.) That doesn't say first single released from an album. It says the song must be first released during the eligibility period. Meaning it can't have been previously released to be considered.

Does anybody think Switchfoot's Meant to Live has a chance?
If it's still eligible, it's going to definitely be in the running.

So ridiculous! ___________ Brandy may get a best contemporary R&B album nomination; I don't know about any song nominations at this point, and even the album nomination is shaky; there will be Alicia and Usher for sure, Anita Baker IF they decide she fits in that category. It could hinge on whether or not Faith evans fits into the deadline (which normally she releases in november, so she will miss it).

I can't see Brandy getting a nomination, being that she just released (in my opinion) her most lackluster album and single to date in her career.

I think Clay Aiken's "Solitaire" has a shot at Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and he has a distant possibility at Best New Artist. However, I doubt the NARAS voters would love a refrain with the words, "Damn, i'm sorry." That song'll be so dated by the time the nominations come out.
Kelly Clarkson probably could've gotten a nom last year for BNA, but her record label stupidly submitted her name the year before, when her debut single "A Moment Like This" was released three weeks before the end of the eligibility period, so she was ineligible. I honestly don't believe Clay was pushed by RCA/J last year, because they were focusing on the actual American Idol winners. Ruben's nomination was in a relatively non-competitive category that Luther was definitely going to win. They just needed to find four other songs to fit around "Dance with my father".
Maroon 5 should be a lock for a BNA nomination if they can get past the eligiblity concerns (Songs About Jane was released in 2002).
My prediction is that Alicia Keys walks away with multiple Grammys, again. Kanye West too.
And this?
While Britney's multiple nominations show that actual vocal performance doesn't matter in these categories, I still can't see this being nominated. Besides, I have a feeling he'd probably be pushed in the R&B category.
