Okay, I officially love this album. I love the gospel feel on "Hands Held High", I love the doom ska of "In Pieces", the hardcore feel of "Given Up", the epic U2ness of "The Little Things Give You Away", the hopefulness of "Shadow Of The Day", the playful beat of "Bleed It Out".......it's all good.
Bring on the new Linkin Park!

I heard "Given Up" on the radio and the DJ completely praised it. It sounded pretty good on my first almost full listen. Already has a ton of plays.

That's the PERFECT followup and probably the best song on the album. I can't see anything doing better radio wise than Given Up.

I think they should release "Bleed It Out" as a single eventually just to remind people that Mike still does rapping once in a while, otherwise people are going to start to think he's left the band. I think if they're going to release a slow song too, "Leave Out All The Rest" will probably be the one, just cause I think it's more suited for radio than "Shadow Of The Day" or "Valentine's Day". "In Pieces" would also be fun to hear on the radio. It would also be great to hear "The Little Things Give You Away" but it's too long and I don't think radio would catch on anyway, even though it's a brilliant song.

Wow this is a soft album...i'm going to reserve judgement until i've heard it a couple times because it took me 2 listens to love Meteora.

I've almost done listening to the album for the first time, and I think it's absolutely amazing. It shows the perfect mix of different Linkin Park sounds that we got from the previous two albums along with some new sounds that I never thought I'd hear from them. I'm much happier with something like this with so much variety than a Hybrid Theory or Meteora #2.

"Given Up" has to be one of the worst songs I've heard this year. I could go into a detailed rant about it, but I'll spare you guys.

I heard "Given Up" on my active rock station yesterday, and holy crap... Chester's scream toward the end is edging into Maynard territory. OK, to set the record straight... looks like Chester's scream here is 17 seconds, well short of Maynard's longest in "The Grudge", which was 24 seconds.

Their SNL performances of What I've Done and Bleed it Out kicked ass.

Yuck, there's a parental advisory on this album? "I bleed it out, diggin deeper just to throw it away." Instead of that group on facebook, "I remember when Pluto was a planet" I might start "I remember when Linkin Park's lyrics had substance."

The other rock station I listen to is being extremely reluctant on this. It's #1 and it's finally gotten enough plays to be in their top 50. Which is weird considering it was the first station I heard "In The End" on, LOL.

I used to be a huge LP fan, so telling me to eat it when I voice my opinion on the "new" LP isn't really gonna hurt me. I haven't listened to the whole album yet, I'm actually waiting for it to come out, but oh well.

Alright here's my quick review. As I expected, i'm disappointed and not because this is a terrible album but because this is not the band I fell in love with, plain and simple. After the initial shock, I listened to the album with an open mind as if I was listening to a brand new band. With that said...
"Given Up" could have been SO much better seeing as its similar to older LP material but its not very good, I listen to it because it's the loudest song on the album and the only one you can rock out too. It really makes me miss tracks like "Faint". "Leave Out All The Rest", "Bleed It Out", and "Shadow of The Day" are all pretty good, but not great. They continue to grow on me. "What I've Done" is the blandest LP song ever, I listened to it twice and I was bored of it. "Hands Held High" is pretty much a hip hop song which means I can only like it so much; the raps good and the marching band drum is cool but there isn't much to the song. "No More Sorrow" is pretty good too. "Valentine's Day" and "In Between" are boring, poppy, and just plain bad. "In Pieces" sounds like an 80's song which is a sound I don't like but the guitar part near the end is really good. Maybe it'll grow on me. "The Little Things Give You Away" I'm not sure about right now, its epic and complex and I won't pass judgement yet; I think I will grow to appreciate it.
I give the album a 6/10 for the 4-5ish songs I like; this coming from someone who would rate both previous albums 9.5/10. I think LP changed who they were and I don't think even them themselves are really comfortable with their new sound. It was really strange not finding even 1 song that I really loved on this album. My consensus is that this album's alright but they should change their band name.

Yuck, there's a parental advisory on this album? Yeah, after two albums without cursing, I rolled my eyes, myself, seeing an unpacked copy today that had the logo in the corner. When was this? (By the way, those lyrics look about the same as they always have, to me...)

Every negative review or comment I read about this album makes me sick. I guess fans only want bands to just pump out the same shit every single time and never do anything different, or at least that's how it seems to me. Fans are fickle like a tunnel is narrow. They don't want musicians, they want a machine. Fuck it. And it's not just Linkin Park, it's Finger Eleven, it's Papa Roach, it's the Ataris, it's any fucking band that tries to do something a little different and doesn't just rehash what they did before. Apparently change sucks.
This isn't directed toward anybody, I'm just speaking freely because I'm just horribly bitter about the whole thing. It's a sad sad world when a band can't change their sound or try to experiment out of fear that they'll turn off their fanbase.

I can't count how many times a new album has come out and I've had to listen to people s**t on it just because it's not the same thing as the album before. Can you believe someone actually said about this album that it sucks because they're not going to be able to mosh to the songs live? They're beautiful well-written songs and all some guy cares about is how he'll be able to slam himself into people during "The Little Things Give You Away", probably the best damn song LP has ever written, but apparently their fans don't give a s**t because it's not loud heavy screaming. God forbid anybody should listen to the lyrics and appreciate a hauntingly epic tune that doesn't have to do with "Shut up when I'm talking to you!"
"I'm as mad as I've ever been!"

They don't want musicians, they want a machine. f**k it. And it's not just Linkin Park, it's Finger Eleven, it's Papa Roach, it's the Ataris, it's any f**king band that tries to do something a little different and doesn't just rehash what they did before. Apparently change sucks. This isn't directed toward anybody, I'm just speaking freely because I'm just horribly bitter about the whole thing. It's a sad sad world when a band can't change their sound or try to experiment out of fear that they'll turn off their fanbase. I still have yet to hear the whole thing, but am just judging by the style of just "Bleed it Out." I really hope the whole album isn't like that. It sounds like they used to be really good, then Mike went apart for his solo thing, Chester separated for his yet-to be released solo style and they tried to come back together and separated like oil and water.

Like I said, I wasn't directing it toward you. In fact, if I was going to direct it toward anybody, it'd probably be the lunkhead Tunelab posters, but I choose to keep my comments generalized because I know they're far from the first and last people to get my goat.
As for "Bleed It Out", from all that I've read they seem to think that song is just a fun thing that they threw together. Mike called it a "fucking bizarre death-party-rap-hoedown". The lyrics sound like they're just about having fun, and the spirit of the song seems so too. The whole album is not like that though. All the songs seem to have their own individual flavour.

Their SNL performances of What I've Done and Bleed it Out kicked ass. on SNL i only saw Bleed it Out, and it was sweet (i was a little tipsy at the time also) but that song is really fun. as for the negative reviews, i think the album could have been better, but i like it still, i remember old LP i pretty much only liked the singles. but on MTM i think it has more depth, at least i like more songs on it. i agree now that Given up is pretty much terrible.
