Aww. But I like "Given Up". I like that it just lets loose with everything.

My station played a couple songs from this album, and I have to say that I like how they seem to be going for a straight-up electropop vibe here. I feel like that was always the core of their sound, but they just added screaming, rapping, and distorted guitars on top. With the new sound I've heard on these songs, I think they're much more in their element, though they still haven't matured much lyrically. I'll definitely have to listen to the rest of the album - I still think "Given Up" is a trainwreck, and I got sick of "What I've Done" really fast, but the rest of the stuff I've heard sounds promising.

Eh. It's May. It's still early. It's why I said "if that means anything" when I told you.

In terms of song quality, the album isn't quite as good as it could (and probably should) have been, yet it's their most musically accomplished record by far. So far I've taken to "Leave Out All the Rest," "Hands Held High," "No More Sorrow," and "The Little Things Give You Away."
I especially appreciate how "No More Sorrow" is heavy and also considerably different from the sameness of "Linkin Park" songs on their first two records.
It worries me that "Given Up" and "Bleed It Out," arguably the worst two songs on the record, are being spun the most on rock radio, likely because they're the two (non-political) songs that are sonically most like their prior hits. After hearing this album, not only do Linkin Park not play new-metal anymore...they really don't even play hard rock anymore.
