For the past week or so, "Powerless" by NF hasn't had a bullet. It's been in the -10 area. That's not too bad, hopefully it can bounce back though because this is a GREAT song. (current #1 on my chart). It would be a shame if they first single from her new album is a flop.

It could get the bullet back tommorow, since it had 1754 spins last Monday. It would be nice to see this spend at least one week in the top 30, mainly because it's a pretty unique sound for pop.

I'm disappointed that "Powerless" is flopping. I was hoping for a top 10.

I hope she can regain her bullet! It's my second favorite song on the charts right now! I don't understasnd why my two favorite songs by her flopped! Maybe radio just somewhat forgot about Nelly Furtado.

There was one DJ on Hitmakers who thought that a non-banjo edit would be more accessible, so now a week after theres now a non-banjo edit on Allaccess. Maybe this will somewhat help the airplay and sound a little more radio friendly.

Maybe radio just somewhat forgot about Nelly Furtado. Is your other favorite "..On the Radio"? That was my other favorite song by her, aside from "Powerless"! I like both of these 2 songs WAY more than "I'm Like A Bird" and "Turn Off The Lights" About "Powerless," the video should be out any day now and it's supposed to be a very unique and colorful video. Maybe this will help... but usually releasing videos don't help songs that are already slowing down ("Damaged," "Stand")... they only help if the song is still picking up ("Stacy's Mom," "Hey Ya"). I guess we'll just have to see.

...and people thought I was crazy for calling this a definite flop. To be honest, you're the only one I can think of either on the boards or in real life who doesn't like this song. I just don't think it's too radio-friendly (despite the fact that it has a good hook and nice beat).

It wasn't so much thinking you were crazy as much as it was hoping to God you were wrong.

I heard this song on the radio for the first time last night. It seems like an odd choice for a first single coming off of an album that had a lot of success around the world. The song is too whiney to be a first single, IMO. While I'm sure she truly feels what she is singing about in the song, it was an error releasing it as a single.

I like Nelly... her debut album was good. I've heard this song a bunch of times now and it does absolutely nothing for me... I think it's annoying and plain weak. No surprise it's flopping. Also, even if you like the song, I don't see how you could think this song is appealing to your average radio listener.

As of the last update she is still at #31 but she is at 0. So no bullet but no spin loss which is a good thing. Maybe this song will pick up when "Folklore" is released. BTW when is "Folklore" being released? I can not believe this song is flopping. I am very disappointed >:(

Well I knew it would flop too, but undeservingly. I guess 2003 is the year of ignoring good songs by talented people

I liked the song but it didnt seem like Top 10 material. Hopefully her 2nd single will do better.

I don't like the "no-banjo" edit. It makes the song sound empty. Too bad such a great song is flopping. The bass in the chorus is incredible, it gives me the chills.

"Powerless" is still hanging on to the #31 spot but has lost a bunch of spins it is only at +11. It was up to over +50 just yesterday >:(

Well I knew it would flop too, but undeservingly. I guess 2003 is the year of ignoring good songs by talented people Wasn't that mostly 2001 and 2002? You guys can't say that 2003 was a bad year for artists though just because one is flopping. A lot of people were happy and surprised that Jewel and MB20 got a hit, then there were hits from other artists like Train and Evanescence that were pretty unexpectant. I'd say 2003 was probably the best year chartwise since maybe 2000 or 1999. It is unfortunately that Nelly isn't Top 10 right now but can we all honestly say we thought this song would be huge?

A lot of people were happy and surprised that Jewel and MB20 got a hit, Yes, the fact that those 2 had Top 10 hits really restored some faith in radio for me. But it was kind of made up for by "Stand" being completely ignored and the snubbing of "Damaged." I'd say 2003 was probably the best year chartwise since maybe 2000 or 1999.
I agree and I don't agree. The first half of 2003 was perhaps the all-time worst the Pop chart has been. The second half of 2003 has been the greatest since, as Mike said, 1999. So many great songs actually have been given a chance in the second half... it just would've been even better if songs like "Bright Lights" and "Why Can't I?" also got Top 10... maybe they still will, but probably not.

The video premiered today on MuchOnDemand. It just shows Nelly Furtado in different scenes, a fun video. It's my second favourite from hers, behind "...On The Radio (Remember The Days)."

I liked the video too. It broke the top 30 which is good news, but it's rising slowly and I do mean slowly.

I hope she can hold on and stay in the top 30 atleast until the next update. I have a feeling this song might pick up a little bit in the next few days.

Has anyone else listened to the album yet? I caught it on MTV's Leak, and it is a mess. An unfocused trainwreck. But I do love "Powerless."

I thought the cd was incredible- eclectic, but I expect that from an artist like Nelly. My favorites are Try, Boat, Explode, and whatever the last one is called.

I'm so sad this song is flopping. It's killing me. I love this song more than anybody will ever know. I can't describe. you know how sometimes you feel a song was made for you? Everything about it is perfect to me. When I make music, I always have a vision of a perfect song.. but I can never achieve it. If I made this song, this would be it! Nelly F stole my idea >:( My favorite song this year! The video is GREAT too.
