These topics just get started earlier and earlier! ;)
As far as the upcoming week, some of the biggest news will be what will happen with the songs in the "logjam" between 17-26. Looks like Christina might be able to break to the front of the pack later this week if her gains continue. Clay has a shot at a top 20 here. But the losers look to be Liz, MB20 (whose gains are decreasing! :() and Michelle Branch. Hopefully these songs can hang on there.
Andre 3000 is on his way to his first #1 pop record with "Hey Ya!", which could reach number 1 by Sunday if 3DD and Beyonce continue decreasing at current rates.
Will Britney hold onto the top 10 berth? Well, from above the news looks positive. Maroon 5 is dropping quickly and might fall BELOW Britney this week. From below, No Doubt is gaining but they might only jump 13-11 or even 13-12 this week if Nelly and Lil' Jon don't lose enough. So odds are certainly in favor of a peak of #10, but of course, that could change if major negatives come into the picture this week, which for some reason I don't see happening until next week possibly.
As far as the lower part of the chart, Linkin Park is losing some steam. I can't really figure out why. I thought this would be a no brainer for the top 40 hit, but they still have a shot, so we will see. Jessica Simpson continues her rise on the chart and could make 31 or 30 this week.

But the losers look to be Liz, MB20 (whose gains are decreasing! :() and Michelle Branch. Hopefully these songs can hang on there. It's a shame that the good songs are getting caught in the logjam. Another song that could be grouped into that category is Nickelback's "Someday", which has a decent bullet but isn't moving up much. I hope Britney can stay in the top 10... she deserves it! "The Way You Move" will enter the top 40 as "Hey Ya" hits #1. Has there ever been a case where an artist debuts the same week as another song by the same artist hits #1? (Of course, each song's by a different half of Outkast, but this could just be a technicality) Any recurrents this week? The Ataris and Justin Timberlake must be getting close. If enough songs fall from the top 40 (or Black Eyed Peas or Christina Aguilera falls out of the top 20), Eamon or Linkin Park could make top 40. Dashboard Confessional, Kelis, and Jay-Z all have the potential to make the top 50 this week. Maybe Jason Mraz, Beyonce, or Kelly Clarkson might make it in.

Yikes!! Matchbox Twenty down to +102, they could fall out of Top 20 next week :( Nickelback's gains are really starting to take off again up to +428. Christina's down, Chingy's up >:( of course the worst song would be the one with the largest bullet in this "logjam" It looks like 3 Doors Down could get a short time at #1 but it looks like Outkast may get #1 before the final update, but I still think they'll fall a few spins short this week.

I am so surprised about how well Chingy is doing! And I'm not happy. Looks like we'll have a new Nelly around the corner. Looks like Nelly Furtado can make Top 30 by next week!

At least Nelly didn't really turn out crappy until after "Dilemma" his first few hits were actually decent compared to rhytmic/urban music now IMO

Also, if BEP falls below #20, they will go recurrent as well. Christina still has another week or two I think.

I don't know why, but something tells me this is not yet the end for matchbox twenty. I feel they may repeat what Stacie Orrico has done for "More To Life" and suddenly get their bullet re-energized. After all, many singles on the current chart have modest gains and most of the Top 10 singles now have losses. This may help "Bright Lights" have a reason to gain again. Meanwhile, it is amazing how Liz Phair is still gaining when she is losing spins fairly rapidly at Hot AC plus her album is selling in small numbers right now. Then again, so is Simple Plan. Both Ludacris and Clay Aiken's bullets have diminished a bit, and this will leave room for Chingy and Christina Aguilera to make their way to the Top 10 possibly. The latter is quite suprising considering its her fifth single. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Jason's at #61. He will easily crack the top 60. He will probably jump ahead of Nick Lachey , Lillix , and Sheryl if his spins keep increasing.

At a time when rap is so popular, Ludacris could continue to have no Top 20s on CHR-Pop. "Roll Out (My Business)" peaked at Number 22. "Stand" goes from 40 to 73 spins. I thought that song was done. The Angie Martinez featuring Jay-Z song that's over two and a half years old needs to go recurrent or gold.

"Dilemma" entered the top 40 while "Hot In Herre" was number 1. And a few more examples I found after a quick peek at charboy's site: Avril Lavigne - "Sk8er Boi" debuted while "Complicated" was on top. Mariah Carey - "One Sweet Day" debuted while "Fantasy" was on top. Whitney Houston - "I'm Every Woman" debuted while "I Will Always Love You" was on top.

Why did they reease "Sk8er Boi" so early? "Complicated" could have done great great things if they waited a while.

I mean, that song got huge spin totals when it was at the top of the chart and shot up near the top of the year-to-date chart in no time. I don't think "Sk8er Boi" hurt "Complicated" at all.

'One Sweet Day' was all the way up to #4 when 'Fantasy' was still #1. It went 22-14-4-2-1 (on the Top 40) while those same weeks 'Fantasy' went 1-1-1-4-7 (or whatever that last week was)

'One Sweet Day'...went 22-14-4-2-1...'Fantasy' went 1-1-1-4-7 For the week in bold, I've always wanted to know how many spins separated "One Sweet Day" and "Name". I wonder just how close Mariah came to replacing herself at number 1.

We'll never know. I thought that 1 week at #1 by the Goo Goo Dolls was a Rick Dees fabrication to prevent Mariah from replacing herself. It looked suspicious to me at that time. (On Rick Dees, Mariah was in the Top 3 at the same time with 2 songs. One Sweet Day went 20-12-3-2-1.)

3DD has finally moved back in front of Beyonce, but alas it may be too late for them, as OutKast is less than 700 spins behind and gaining nearly +1200. :o Wonder how many weeks "Hey Ya" will spend on top?

OutKast might well reach the top before this Sunday's final update, or else it's back to 3 Doors Down. OutKast's gains are amazing considering they're so high on the chart. When was the last time a song gained 1,000+ while in the Top 3? "Hey Ya" should be #1 well into January I should think!

So, do you think that Outkast and 3 Doors Down could keep Baby Bash out of the top two until at least the 12/19 chart (which, I believe, would be the last one of the year), thus making 2003 the year without number two peaks?

"Complicated" if not more recently. Yes Complicated was gaining like +1000 when it was at like #3 or so.

"Beautiful" gained +1000 the first week back from the two week break when it was #1.
I think "Hey Ya" will reach the 9000 spin mark which was only achieved by "Beautiful" this year.

"Beautiful" gained +1000 the first week back from the two week break when it was #1. Oh yeah, I did forget about that, although that is a function of the two week break. But I forgot about Miss Independent. So, I guess that is the last one to do this... *sigh* Everytime you mention this 9000 spin mark, you ALWAYS have to say that beautiful was the last one to accomplish this. I think we all know by now that this is so. Saying things like this make us really think that you just like to throw Christina's successes in our faces, and that's how I at least lose some respect for you on these boards.

It looks like Simple Plan will make Top 10 next week. 3 Doors Down looks to hold off "Hey Ya" for this week, their loss is down to near -100, and their still 500 spins ahead of Outkast. How many weeks was Beyonce at #1?
