Chances are this will be the last chart of the calendar year since R&R takes 2 weeks off. Liz Phair has made a rebound. Hopegully she'll make top 10 by the end of the week! And Outkast's bullet continues to shrink If Stacie Orrico can hang on, BeyoncΓ© could be as low as #8 this week!

I'm still shocked Liz Phair may be going Top 10. What the heck is holding her up? She is losing spins quite quickly at Hot AC, her only other big format, and her album is not selling quite so well.
Then again, I should ask Simple Plan the same question! ;)
By the way, what week has Liz Phair's "Why Can't I?", matchbox twenty's "Bright Lights" and Staind's "So Far Away" just went into in the Top 40? I swear Staind's "So Far Away" has been below the Top 20 forever, looks like he will go recurrent in a way very similar to Train's "Calling All Angels".
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Errr...I assume you're asking how long they've been on the chart. In that case, 12/19 will be week 20 for Liz Phair and week 17 for both Matchbox Twenty and Staind.

If they do things the same as the last two years, this is the R&R chart that won't be heard on AT40. They'll count down the 12/5 and 12/12 charts over the next two weekends, then do the year-end top 100 for two weekends, and then use the would-be R&R 1/3/04 chart from Mediabase (which wouldn't be published in R&R) for their first new countdown of 2004. So Liz Phair could get an R&R top 10 but miss out on AT40.
Outkast's slowing is to be expected for a song that's gotten to such a high peak spin count. I think it's safe to say that they'll have a hold on #1 into 2004.

I think I read that AT40 will be running the yearend countdown the weekends of 12/20 and 12/27... so likely they'll use the 12/5 chart next weekend, the 12/12 chart for the first countdown of 2004, and the would-be 1/3/04 data for the second countdown of '04 (I think that's how they've done it the past couple of years... the second weekend of AT40's new year they "catch up" by using the Mediabase stuff, resulting in some larger than normal moves). But yeah, in either scenario they'll miss the 12/19 chart.

Looks like Ludacris will pass her up with his first Top 10 hit with his worst song. Then Liz Pahir will probably lose her bullet. Although, she has gained since yeserday, hasn't she?

Yeah, Ludacris will definitely pass Liz before the final update. One of the worst songs on the chart preventing one of the best ones from entering the Top 10. :( And Trapt is still too far ahead of Liz to let both Liz and Luda in. Unless she has a MAJOR comeback Liz will not go Top 10 >:(

Didn't Ed say that in 3 weeks, they'd be counting down the yearend chart? That means that the 12/13 and 12/20 weekends will be regular charting... or is the AC and Hot AC versions of the show only one weekend dedicated to yearend?
I hope that the yearend chart is aired on 12/20 and 12/27 because those are the two weekends I'll be home to tape them off!

Ed said that the year end A/C show will be in three weeks. That's because it's only a one-part show, like last year, since so many A/C stations have flipped to the all-Christmas format. For the week that part 1 of the CHR Top 100 will be aired, stations that don't do the non-stop Christmas thing have the option of either airing the Christmas show or just doing regular programming.

OutKast is now down 2 spins from their Sunday-final-update spin total. There's still nothing that is going to knock this song off anytime soon though.
And Michelle Branch should make it to #20 or maybe even #19 by the end of the week.

aww Stacie lost her bullet...
what was her peak, #6? or did she only hit #6 in mid-week?
I would have LOVED for it to go Top 5, but this is still much better than anyone could have predicted, so I'm happy
Im happy to see "Hey Ya!" down to under 200 gains, that is very weird to see...but they are 1500 spins above the next closest competitor (Baby Bash, since 3DD don't have a bullet anyway), so they won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Perhaps No Doubt can go to #1? Or will they cool off soon as well?
I think Kelis is the next big threat to Hey Ya!, and it will go Top 20 this week, so that still gives Outkast a good 4-5 more weeks on top

Wednesday 12/10 Update
Outkast makes a nice leap into the 9200's at 9238, after settling out for a few days.
Liz Phair will most likely be backwards bulleted to #12 this week.
Whoa! :o Look at Britney and Madonna fall!
Bottom of the chart: These songs all seem to be moving at generally the same pace......which of them will go Top 20? Which will flop soon? which will go top 10 if any? What are your predictions?
Pink, Sheryl Crow, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Good Charlotte, Jay-Z, Evanescence, Kiley Dean, Murphy Lee, Jason Mraz, J.C. Chasez

Pink is still holding on, but is down a bit from last week, I think she'll hang on, but "Trouble" was near the top 20 when it's gains went down this low, could this be Pink's first single to miss the Top 20 all together?? If it doesn't pick up, I'll predict #26, if it does, #18, right now the song isn't any shape to go remotely near the top 10, even though I think it's better than "Trouble" Sheryl Crow has been slowly rising for the last 6 weeks, I see many possibilities for this single, I'm predicting around #18 right now, but I think it is a darkhorse for a potential top 10, if Pop will let it get there, it definetly deserves it. Beyonce, I haven't even heard this song, but judging from the way it's doing and everyone else's predictions, I'm going to say this won't make top 20, maybe #24. Kelly Clarkson, this song is soooo boring!! What a terrible choice for a 3rd single, I'm also thinking a non-top 20 here as well, #26, if she's even lucky to make top 30! Good Charlotte, this song has picked up over the past week or so, this is definetly their best release yet, I think it will at least get to the top 30, but this song may also stall in the 20's. Jay-Z, I don't much care for the song, but without Beyonce this won't get out of the 20's. Evanescence, nice song but I don't think anyone really knows what this is going to do, I think we'll have to wait and see for a few weeks, and if it picks up there may be a chance. Kiley Dean, just heard this today, not bad, but sounds very mediocre IMO, probably stall around #30. Murphy Lee, haven't heard this yet, but I just know I won't like it anyways. Jason Mraz, boring follow-up, It may even miss out of the top 40. J.C. Chasez, also haven't heard this.

Murphy Lee, haven't heard this yet, but I just know I won't like it anyways. You probably wouldn't, the son is very bland and easily blends in with all the rhythmic fluff.

I really like the Murphy Lee song. I am glad to see it going top 40. I am surprised at how much "So Far Away" , "Why Can't I?" , & "White Flag" are still gaining. These songs are pretty old. I can't wait for "Hey Ya" to start losing spins. I predict big spin losses when it finally does I am very happy to see Kelis gaining so much. Hopefully this song doesn't stop until it gets to #1. I thought Willa had an outside chance of making the top 40 guess not >:(

What's going on with Simple Plan? They seem to be making some pretty good gains. #3, #2? Maybe even #1?
I'm surprised how well this song is doing and seems to be even picking up.
This the last group of the Good Charlotte/Bowling For Soup/Simple Plan combination that I would have expected to have this kind of success. In general I don't like them. I really like this song though.

I also can't get over Simple Plan's success. I figured their third single wouldn't even go anywhere, now it has an outside chance of #1! I really don't see it going to #1 though, but then again I didn't see it going Top 10, and then Top 5, either.

"Perfect" is closer to "White Flag" (#26) in spins than "Hey Ya" so I'd say talk of #1 is probably premature.

Yes, but Hey Ya has a lot more spins than the more recent #1's so I accuse you of stat manipulation. ;) Nonetheless, it isn't even above 6000 spins yet, so while it may be a bit premature, my surprise was its strong gains after already making it to the top 5.

I'm also quite surprised at the success of "Perfect"
That song has been around since the end of August (the video on Much, playing on z103) maybe because they are Canadian, but still...Kiss 98.5 Buffalo has been playing it for a while too.
I did not see this song going Top 5, or even Top 10 for that matter
It is not my favourite of theirs though, I liked "I'd Do Anything" and "Addicted" better, with IDA probably my favourite of the bunch. Addicted comes in only slightly above Perfect.
I also like Murphy Lee's song, the beat is incredibly and it's just a catchy tune. Im very happy that it is making moves towards the Top 40 and hope it continues to rise, even though I know it's not going to be a huge hit on the Pop format.
I'd love for it to go Top 15 or even Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, but that may be a stretch. (It's at #17 now and has been stuck there for 3 weeks, only re-gaining its bullet this week)

I'm also surprised that "Perfect" has made the top 5... I didn't think it would come close to the top 10. So am I. There were so many points where I could say, "Oh, they're gonna stall there." Somehow they are still bulleted, but I'm definitely going to take my final stand and say, "They are going to stall at #5."

It will likely be #4 by tomorrow, since it's only 73 spins behind Beyonce (who's losing 683 spins/week).
