I have never been able to distinguish between 2/4 and 4/4 time. Is there a trick to it or do you just have to have a lot of experience with music theory? Thanks, Ben The start of a song usually gives it away because there's a repetition of the first 4 beats most of the time. It's really just counting it off. For example, 12 Stones' Far Away www2.allaccess.com/sounds/12stofar.ramIt's 4/4. Listen and count from the first beat 1 2 3 4 and keep doing it. Some songs are very tricky in finding out the time measure. For example, Cold's Stupid Girl. I forget the time measure of that song, but it's very peculiar lol.

I know there are some 3/4 and 6/8 songs out there, too (I can't tell the difference between those either, haha). I know that Musiq's "halfcrazy" is one of them and I believe Alicia Keys's "Fallin'" is one, too. I am prone to songs that are written in 3/4 or 6/8 because it seems less common. Thanks, Ben

This song should take off by the end of the month. It will be Top 20 by the end of July.

MAROON5 She Will Be Loved Producer(s): Matt Wallace Writer(s): A. Levine, J. Valentine Publisher(s): Careers-BMG/February Twenty Second (BMI); BMG/Valentine, Valentine (ASCAP) Label/Catalog Number: Octone/J/RMG 60950 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: June 26, 2004 Talk about a band that's having the last laugh. It took a year for Maroon5's gritty "Harder to Breathe" to score with mainstream America, followed by a fast dash to No. 1 at top 40, MTV and VH1 for the playful "This Love." Now, budding sex symbol and lead singer Adam Levine hits another bull's-eye with the third single from platinum album "Songs About Jane." The band reveals yet another dimension with the slower, more thought-provoking "She Will Be Loved," which finds Levine extolling, "I don't mind spending every day/Out on your corner in the pouring rain/Look for the girl with the broken smile/Ask her if she wants to stay a while." Without question, Maroon5 is proving to be one of the most versatile acts of the day. With the incredibly beautiful "She Will Be Loved," the group may well have delivered the summer love anthem of the year.βCT

Just heard this for the first time this afternoon on Kiss 108. I love it! It's definitely gonna be another big hit for them.

This is a definite chick song. Sappy as hell, but it's alright. I like the music much more than the lyrics, but it might grow on me.
As far as its pop success, I predict it'll peak somewhere between #9 and #12. This is a morning/rainy day kind of song and it's bad timing releasing this during the summer. I also think it won't take off until late July / August and might be a slow burner until the fall.

I'm starting to think this one has a shot at #1. It's a great song, the band is considered "hot" right now, and the song just doesn't leave your head.
Without any doubt for me this will be a top5 hit though.

I talked to a radio DJ this weekend and he gave me a 50/50 prediction on this song. He said this will either be the monster ballad of the summer, or it will flop.

It doesn't look like it's going to flop. It is already in the top40 and several stations picked it up meaning it would go at least top30 before it has even a chance to flop. Even if opinions drastically changed on this song it will probably go at least top 20. In any event, I'm saying Monster ballad of the summer.

This song has really exploded over the past week, I went from not hearing it at all to hearing it almost everytime I listened to the radio.

I wasn't impressed by the first listen of this song. It seemed a little boring. I will have to hear it a few more times to make up my mind.
However, I feel its huge bullet right now is because it is a "new single from new pop band" rather than it being a great song necessarily.

where can i find the slightly more upbeat version that all CHR Pop stations are playing? This really pisses me off when anyone does this, All-American Rejects, Train, Jagged Edge, and Sarah McLachlan all have done this and it pisses me off. I have to have this version, it drives me crazy.
Anyways, this will be #1 by September.

I also don't see why this wouldn't be another huge one for them. I can't believe people think it might flop.

no kidding, this has a +1100 bullet right now! Come on. I like Kevin Lyttle but he sure as hell won't beat Maroon 5 in peak position.
Only one other song has a chance from keeping M5 out of #1:
- Avril Lavigne, My Happy Ending
what else is there? D12, yeah right.......
anyways, I hope Modest Mouse starts exploding like how this did, you never know....
what's coming out this fall anyways? New Gwen Stefani could do some damage.

It will end up being either #1 or #2 by the end of it's run. I really think this is their weakest single though. . . it's kind of boring.

I'm surprised it's taking this long to pick up on radio. The single came out over three months ago. Even in my chart it stalled at #91, now it's rising up fast everywhere. Expect Maroon5 to be a three-hit wonder with this one (I mean if they were 2 die today, God forbid, they'll have a good career, they're the next Matchbox 20 after all. )

The single hasn't been out for over three months. It was officially the next single for about that long but hasn't really been released officially until maybe within the last two weeks. Congrats anyways! I'm hoping for #1! If this and Avril can hit #1 this year, 2004 could be the best year in music since the mid-90s!

i actually agree The Max, it's been a while, I'd say the last good year for music was either 98 or 96

There's really no obvious choice for the fourth single. These four tracks all can work: * "Shiver" if they want to be seen with a boy-band kind of appeal. * "Tangled" if they want to appeal more to their funk style. * "Must Get Out" if they're looking for merely a solid Pop hit. * "Sunday Morning" if they're seeking critical praise. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I don't think they have any more songs suitable for pop after "She Will Be Loved."
