Sticky, please.
The gap between Jojo and Hoobastank is growing more and more narrow, though she still has 1450 plays to go.ย I'd say she should make it in two or three weeks if the upward trend of "Leave(Get Out)" and downward trend of "The Reason" stays the same or increases. Britney Spears seems destined to peak at #4.ย The only thing that can help her is a fast drop for "Burn", which probably will not happen. Also, it looks like #5 will be it for OutKast, since it only gains one play.ย But it sure exceeded most people's expectations for it. Maroon5 looks like it could drop out of the Top Ten next week.ย I think we can forget about it being the top song of the year, since Hoobastank will almost certainly surpass it by the end of the year :(

-Ugh, Nickleback's new song is at +327 anf D12's at +659, two songs that are over-rated already on this chart. -Los Lonely Boys climbing w/ "Heaven", very good, this song will definetely make Top 5, and perhaps even the top spot in one or two months. -Does anyone else see a sharp decline in the near future for Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue", or is it just me?

Wow, look at Finger Eleven into the top 30. (By the way, this song is about 9 months old already. It debuted on my chart 9/26/03.)

-Does anyone else see a sharp decline in the near future for Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue", or is it just me? I hope not. Besides, it didn't rise very slowly (decent pace) so I don't think it will fall that fast. The song wouldn't enter the Top 10 though, what with all the competition.

Britney Spears seems destined to peak at #4.ย The only thing that can help her is a fast drop for "Burn", which probably will not happen. As long as she keeps her bullet for the next 13 days she seems pretty much certain to peak at #3. Usher is falling fast enough, and there isn't alot behind her for a while.

Looks like Christina Milian will be making the top 10 this week. I can honestly say I never saw that coming when the song first came out.
But the question is, who will she replace? The highly probable candidate is Usher, but could a super fast rising new single by Maroon 5 spell an early exit for them from the top 10? They are losing more than Yeah! but have about 150-200 spins more than Yeah! at the moment.

Wow, look at Finger Eleven into the top 30.ย (By the way, this song is about 9 months old already.ย It debuted on my chart 9/26/03.) It's doing nicely, but can it pull a "Meant to Live"? I think Usher has juuuuust a bit too much airplay lol. Case and point, WEZB-FM in New Orleans. Assuming that the new version of If I Ain't Got You (featuring Usher) is being played.... Burn=112 Confessions Pt. II=111 If I Ain't Got You=68 Yeah=33 That's 324 times that Usher is being played in a week. That's 46 times a day :o :o :o :o I don't think I've ever seen chart dominance on the pop Mediabase chart in the year or so that I've been following it. Dip it Low has become a top 5 threat. Possibly a top 3. I can't see #1, but it's surprising me as high as it is right now. How Come (to my discontent) is easily going to become top 15. The song has grown on me but not that much. Let's Get it Started exploded out the box with almost as high a bullet as My Happy Ending, but for whatever reason has chilled. I think it can still recover nicely to another top 15 for BEP. Looks like Counting Crows in fact have a legitimate hit on the pop chart. Accidentally in Love is definitely hitting top 40 with the rate that it's picking up. Songs not charting: Brandy f. Kanye "Talk About Our Love"-This song is obviously going to make top 40. Whether it stays there is a different story. Modest Mouse "Float On"-An early pleasant surprise. The biggest songs to watch though are Kimberly Locke's Wrong and The Rasmus' In the Shadows. In the Shadows is going to be a smash. I can seriously see top 10 for it.

-Does anyone else see a sharp decline in the near future for Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue", or is it just me? No, because this is a summer song. The only reason it is still around is because it got a boost from the approaching summer. It struggling for awhile in the 20s as spring was heating up. Now it will stay in at least the Top 20 until near the end of August. Way to go Jojo! I am VERY surprised at this one doing as well as it is. She does have a voice though.

I really hope Mis-teeq can sneak at least a week in at #10. It's been too long since a British act made it...

I think Avril is going to level off around +600-700 soon. Her spin count jumped higher in the past day then the last few days.

The biggest songs to watch though are Kimberly Locke's Wrong and The Rasmus' In the Shadows. In the Shadows is going to be a smash. I can seriously see top 10 for it. Totally agree when it comes to Counting Crows. I even predict this could be their greatest smash in some time now. Kim Locke is proving me wrong, indeed! :o When I heard that song, I almost screamed "flop in sight". "How Come" has grown on me, too. At first, I also thought it was too dark for Pop radio, and how the subject matter would be a little too oblivious for Eminem's pop listenership (how many of them are really aware the song is about Royce The 5"9?). But with repeated listens, I actually began to realise how catchy the chorus is. As I wrote here before, I think Brandy's song is going to be a slow burner. It's one of those songs that doesn't get old too soon. And that's why I think it's going to be a hit, sooner or later. And I think "Float On" may be another case in point. Maybe the average pop listener finds it a bit leftfield at first. But with time, I think it becomes pretty obvious that the song is great, and that the guitar licks and the chorus are very hooky and addictive. About other songs not charting: DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL "Vindicated" / TRAIN "Ordinary" - I think we are going to have two simultaneous hits off of the "Spiderman 2" soundtrack. Both songs may not be immediate, but they grow with repeated listens. And Train's song has a really great string section. CIARA F/ PETEY deleted "Goodies" - The Petey deleted association may help her right from the off. But the song has a very insidious hook. And as soon as it catches at Rhythmic and Urban, Pop will embrace it without blinking. SHIFTY "Slide Along Side" - This can be one of the greatest Summer smashes in tow, the way it's gaining. TERROR SQUAD "Lean Back" - At first, I thought this was too rap for Pop. But the way it's gaining at Rhythmic and Urban, and the video playing a lot on MTV, I think we have one of the Summer's sure anthems in hands.

I hope not. Besides, it didn't rise very slowly (decent pace) so I don't think it will fall that fast. The song wouldn't enter the Top 10 though, what with all the competition. "Ocean Avenue" will probably be this year's song that doesn't make the Top Ten but ranks inside the Year End Top 40 (there always seems to be one or two of that type of song each year).

If Petey deleted is still in the top 20 6 weeks from now, I will probably hurl. And as much as I love Everytime, that song will probably be out of the top 10 by the time mid-August comes, especially with Outrageous stealing some of her spins. And Maroon 5 - yeah, I think that song might stick around, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go recurrent in 6 weeks.

I just downloaded Kevin Lyttle's song 'Turn Me On' and listened to it for what I thought would be the first time. No way! This song is old! I'm sure I heard it on the World Chart Show years ago or at least heard it somewhere. Any idea how old the song is?

I'm sure I heard it on the World Chart Show years ago or at least heard it somewhere. Any idea how old the song is? It was z103.5 here in Toronto's #1 song of the year in 2002, it was a HUGE, massive overplayed hit in the summer of 2002 on their airwaves, and they aren't even an "Urban" station. They played the remix with Alison Hinds though, which is better than the one that's being played on U.S. radio and video. The song is at LEAST 2 years old, but I'd imagine it's even older, probably around 3 years old. It's an awkward situation because this has never happened before, where a song was a big hit here in my city a few years back, and I loved it off and everything, and then years later it becomes a hit on U.S. radio, it's just weird to me. Especially since it's not the same version that was played so much here.
