Who directed this video? MTV Hits won't list the director. >:(

this song reminds me SO much of Alanis' Mary Jane, not so much in voice but intent and style, only ALanis' is much deeper, darker and mature.

You think the lyrics are really similar? Wow. If I had those two next to each other, I would never think it was the same artist. Alanis' song is much more unique and...interesting lyrically.

The lyrics aren't similar at all, but the theme is somewhat similar, and the similarity stands out because it isn't a common lyrical theme (like a song about love or lost love).

How do yall feel about avril's acoustic live version of this song thats on her CD? Here is the link for those who don't have it. s13.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1CC2BDA73685AD9E59956B6856D305AFI think its really good! It has so much emotion and she sings it perfect compared to how sometimes her performances live arent that great.

easily the best song off the album, I heard three times today on the radio and I'm liking it more and more every time I hear it. Lord knows I couldn't say the same thing bout 'Don't Tell Me' or 'My Happy Ending' which I thought was . AWESOME THIRD SINGLE!!!

I agree. The more I hear this song, the more I love it. I've never been an Avril fan by any means either. This is by far her best song to date IMO

By the time they had realized the song was actually a hit, it had already been out for too long to quite make the #1 position. I was just looking at your signature. I stay in Marion country and I heard about that.

I ask again, who directed this video? I believe it was Diane Martel, who has directed videos for Christina Aguilera ("Genie In A Bottle", "What A Girl Wants"), Monica ("Angel Of Mine"), Mariah Carey ("Dreamlover", "All I Want For Christmas Is You", "Butterfly"), Stacie Orrico ("Stuck"), Alicia Keys ("If I Ain't Got You"), N*E*R*D ("Lapdance", "Rock Star"), and Justin Timberlake ("Like I Love You"), just to name a few. (Google is fun!) :)

I was curious about this the first time you mentioned it. I like her phrasing in the song, and I agree with you that she infuses the song with a lot of emotion. But she goes off-pitch a lot in the song, and it's distracting. In some ways, I would have preferred that she use her head voice earlier in the song (as she does later in the song). Anyway, I really like this song, and am really psyched that it is already doing so well on CHR/Pop. I hope it goes #1.

This song was off to a good start about a week ago, but it's really slowed down. What's the deal? After a few listens, I'm starting to dislike this track. First listen was awesome, but now the entire track sounds too repetitive of her last two tracks. I'm gonna change my prediction from number 1 to top 10. This might get lost in the shuffle of other new music.

Eventually it picked up again and went to #1

Well many (including myself) will tell you that going to #1 and peaking at #1 are synonymous terms. I hope not... :(

I like Avril's music, but she's hardly doing anything groundbreaking IMO. Nobody's Home isn't a great song IMO. Loveplastic I think you missed what I opened my post with, I said it's similar is STYLE and INTENT but Alanis' is better, just as you said so we agree

It's a stupid song with an even stupider video. Avril prancing round with a bad wig and crying into the camera makes for the most painful viewing ever.
It's like Avril is trying to make a personal connection with all the homeless kids in the all world; "She's so empathetic". Well, really she just makes herself look like an idiot singing to a meaningless song.

I love the song and the video. For once, she looks different. She looks EXACTLY the same in every single video, she never changes her hair. Here, she looks more womanly, she looks good.

This song has slowed down but its bullet is still above +500 so there really is nothing to worry about.

It went from +1000 to +500 in about a week, so I'd say there is something to worry about.

I love this song, however it’s hard to say if it will be as big as “My Happy Ending.” This one is a bit too mature for the format right now…and callout on the song appears to confirm this. It’s scoring high numbers with the older daytime listeners, but it’s just not connecting with the younger crowd like her last single did. We’ll see though…”My Happy Ending” is still sitting in the top 10 right now and that could be slowing gains for this one.

She's so hot in the Nobody's Home video (not the punk chick, the old style Avril with the band). For the first time I thought "wow, she IS beautiful".

This song was a huge flop in the UK charts. #24. It just shows that even though the video was played all the friggin time, doesn't make people care. If it's a s**t song, it's a s**t song; doesn't matter who's singing it.
Some quotes which I find sum up this song very well:
"Avril now targets homelessness for her special brand of ham fisted social commentary."
"I.e. the words 'highly' and 'inappropriate' spring to mind."
"Beyond the bold statement 'homelessness is bad' it's all a bit puzzling."
"The video throws even more fog on the matter. In it our heroine juxtaposes being homeless herself (by wearing an appalling birds nest wig which she washes in a service station sink) and performing at a classical recital in a nice frock."
"Hell is empathising from a passing limousine."
