MTV has confirmed Maroon5 plan to release "Sunday Morning" as the fourth and final single off 'Songs About Jane'. Maroon 5's debut spent its first year slowly building momentum behind the lead single, "Harder to Breathe," and has since steamrolled the charts behind two more singles, "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved" (see "Maroon 5 Plan To Keep It Hot And Steamy In Next Video"). Now the band is planning a fourth, the piano-driven "Sunday Morning." " 'Sunday Morning' is probably the oldest song on the record," drummer Ryan Dusick said at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards (see "Usher And Lindsay Win Big, Ashlee Burps, Britney A No-Show At Teen Choice Awards"). "It was the first song that is kinda in the style that the record became. We were a different band before we wrote that song. It was definitely influenced by Stevie Wonder; at the time we were all listening to a lot of Stevie Wonder. Adam [Levine], also lyrically, it was a new step for him, because he kinda wrote it about something very personal to him and an experience that he'd just had, and it kinda shaped the direction of his lyrics, based on personal experiences." www.mtv.com/news/articles/1490217/20040813/maroon_5.jhtml?headlines=trueIt's still early and there is no word of an adds date, probably won't be for a little while at least, but it's news nontheless. Any predictions on how this will fare?

Yay! I'm sooooo happy they're releasing this.
It's the best song off the record as far as quality goes.
However, commerically, it isn't exactly the best single candidate. "Tangled" and "Must Get Out" would have been better selections.
Still, this is one band with a lot of hype right now, and it shall carry this track into the Top 20.
My Prediction: #16
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This song is very catchy and I think a great single choice... but it'll be at least another 3 months (perhaps more) before SWBL simmers down enough to release the next single. By then, who knows what'll happen.

nothing will ever beat no doubt's "sunday morning" for me I won't argue that No Doubt's "Sunday Morning" is also awesome. It's one of my favorite singles of theirs. Both "Sunday Morning" singles are great. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I don't see this doing much. I think even though Maroon5 is very hot right now, that it is the wrong single and will suffer the same fate as 3 Doors Down's Away From the Sun.

I don't get why people are saying that this isn't very radio-friendly or that it wasn't the right choice - I always thought this was the obvious choice for the fourth single if there was going to be one. Anyway, it's a great song and while it probably won't be as huge as This Love or She Will Be Love, it should still at least get to the top 15.

Two slow songs in a row. I don't see that working for them.

you guys call it mid-tempo, I call it slow. It's jazzy, I don't see it. Don't get me wrong, it's a quality song, but I don't see it catching on pop.

If it doesn't do well at Pop, it'll be because its an old song and a 4th single released to Pop about a year and half after the 1st one. Not because it wouldn't fit in at the format.

I honestly think this is their first wrong single choice.

I honestly think this is their first wrong single choice. You know, I agree, but in a way I don't. I agree: Must Get Out and many other upbeat songs would be great, especially after what looks to be a Top 3 maybe even a #1 ballad, a lot of wannabe fans could be turned off by the jaziness. I don't agree: Sunday Morning is like nothing else, and with the Christmas Season around, likely around when this song will be nearing it's peak, it will fit into stations lighter-based rotations a lot better, especially at AC once the xmas season is over. I see this one being another Bright Lights, which means, thought it may not chart as high as others, this will hang around a while outside of radio. It's a great song, and of course, as usual, I see this having some added instruments in the radio release. Predicted Peaks(s): Hot AC: Top 5 CHR\POP: around 15, decent longtivity in the lower 20's AC: #1 (this is on the Something's Gotta Give movie, good familiarity) AAA: Top 5 CHR Jazz: Top 5

When Maroon 5 return to the studio in early 2005, it will have been a long time since they made a record, but the band has been warming up, cutting a couple of covers for upcoming compilations. They did "Everyday People" for a Sly Stone tribute album (see "Maroon 5 Are Just 'Everyday People' On Sly Stone Tribute LP") and "Pure Imagination" from "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" for a benefit.
"There's a new compilation that Eddie Vedder put together to raise money for children," Dusick said. "I'm not sure exactly what the foundation is called, but it's a compilation that we wanted to support."
Speaking of benefits, Maroon 5 are planning a fund-raiser at Los Angeles' Troubadour on September 23. "We have a friend who recently just had a freak aneurysm in his brain and he's been in the hospital and we're raising some money to support him," Dusick explained.
By then, the drummer hopes to be back performing with his band. He's been "on the injured reserve list" most of the summer, with Gavin DeGraw drummer Matt Flynn filling in.
"I have a nerve that's trapped in my shoulder from playing the drums so much, and it took its toll on me," he explained. "We've been on the road for three years straight, so it's just one of those things where your body just gives out and says you gotta take a break. So that's what I'm doing.
"We're getting to the source of the problem," he added, "and I think I'll be all right pretty soon."

I like this song and I think it's awesome choice. Not really an obvious one but I'd be disappoint if it were 'Tangled' or whatever track 3 is called.

It's a good song, not the most commercial. I'd say this will help them at the Grammy Awards though!

This is one of my favorites on the album, but I don't think it's a great single choice. I would have preferred "Shiver" or "Tangled."

It'll be Top 10 at POP & HOT AC. I'll bet you a million dollars!!!!!!!!!!! To keep their top 10 streak running, I hope so. However...I just find this boring and lacking. I think it will get top 30ish for hype and then fall.

I like this, as I've liked all Maroon 5's singles. The jazziness will hurt it though. I think this will just barely make the top 10 on Pop. It will do very well on Hot AC.

Hopefully the video will continue their trend of improving over the previous one.

One of the most obvious singles on the album! Why must radio all have a similar sound to be a hit!? This is a fantastic track... #4 Michael New Orleans www.michaelduvic.com

Hopefully the video will continue their trend of improving over the previous one. "She Will Be Loved" was an improvement?Β Wow.Β For me, the video ruins the touching sentiment of the song.Β I mean, he was cheating on his girlfriend with her mom.Β It's a decent concept, but not for a song like that. I've liked all of Maroon 5's singles, but I have yet to like one of their videos.

I honestly think this is their first wrong single choice. There are better songs to choose from. I personally think "Secret" and "The Sun" would have been fabulous. But what do I know, I'm just the person who calls into the radio station if I like the song. ;)
