Yeah, now all we need is #75, a song that debuted on the R&R chart at #21 in 1986.

Nope. That song debuted at #39. The song was the long-awaited single for a very popular 1980s band, who produced some of Hornsby's material.

golden eagle boy is right! It is "Stuck With You".
(although "The Power Of Love" was also a good guess.
70) The second hit from this fun-loving girl, and to number one it went.
69) For the band who sings this song, it was their third Top 40 hit, their first #1 on R&R and their second on Billboard.
68) Another song that ran into "lyric problems" and fell short of the number one spot.
67) This song tied itself to the top spot for three weeks in 1981.
66) This song charted in this woman's third year on the Top 40 charts and was the number one song of the year.
GOOD LUCK!!

#66 wasn't "Miss You Much". 1989 was Janet Jackson's fourth year hitting the charts.
#68 wasn't "I Want Your Sex". That song doesn't appear anywhere on the chart, nor do any of George's other solo songs, believe it or not. "One More Try" just narrowly missed hitting the list (I'm sure of this, as it was the number three song of 1988 and the number two song of that year appeared at #91 on the chart. So who knows, maybe "One More Try" would have made it had it been a spot or two higher on the chart.

Yes to 68, no to 66 ("Like A Virgin" was never the number one song of the year, since its chart run was between two different chart years)

The guess for Like a Virgin at 66 made me think of "Crazy For You", which was the #1 song of 1985. Is Crazy For You #66?
If it is, that would mean that the #2 song of 1985, REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling" is very near, and #69 is the only other one of this five unguessed.[/font]

Nope, you're wrong on both counts. Although "Can't Fight This Feeling" was REO's first #1 on R&R and second on Billboard, it was not their third Top 40 hit. They had several in 1981, a top ten in 1982 and a minor hit at the end of 1984.
Hint: The same situation applies to songs 66 and 69. They're both from the same year and the #69 song was the number two song of that year. That said, there's only one possibility.

YES! At last we can move on to the next set...
65) This artist was on NBC's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" this past Thursday, doing a terrible rendition of one of this year's biggest hits so far.
64) This is a song for blind sculptors everywhere.
63) This was the first in a string of many hits for a duo that charted mainly in the mid-80s. The male half of the duo had an instrumental on the charts in the early 1990s with another female partner.
62) Lipstick on the music chart, perhaps?
61) In response to the last line in this song: No, it's not, you've just gotten started with this monster album.
GOOD LUCK!!

Number 65 is not "Lean On Me". Remember - we're done with songs from 1987, since we've already seen the number one song from that year and there were no holdovers from that year that were bigger (not even "Faith" by George Michael). Moreover, we're also done with 1986 and 1988. Those were definitely the years when the chart moved the fastest.
Number 62 is not "Funkytown". That song only peaked at #7 on the R&R chart and did not spend a whole lot of weeks on the chart, so in fact, it's quite far from the Top 100 of the 1980s.
The song is from the early 1980s, though.
Oh yeah, songs 64, 63 and 61 were guessed right.

Oh yeah, the next five clues:
60) This was the only non-number one song that was on AT40's July 4, 1987 show "The Top 40 Songs Of The 80s - So Far"
59) This is the lowest ranked song that spent double digits in the Top Ten. However, seeing as it didn't hit number one and only spent fourteen weeks sort of explains that. It peaked at #2 in the late summer of 1982 and is by a group who'd had many hits before.
58) This song was #1 on the R&R chart right before the top song of 1981 hit number one.
57) This song is about a guy who's totally in denial about how he feels about his girl leaving him.
56) This is the only TV show theme to make the countdown (not counting songs that were adopted for TV show themes several years after their release)
GOOD LUCK!!
