Kelly Clarkson: New Single My Life Would Suck Without You Catapults To #1 On The Hot 100 SINGLE BREAKS THE EXISTING RECORD FOR THE BIGGEST LEAP TO #1 IN THE CHART'S HISTORY SONG ALSO LANDS AT #1 ON THE DIGITAL CHART WITH 279,605 SOLD THE FIRST WEEK ALBUM RELEASE MOVED UP TO MARCH 10, 2009 NEW YORK, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelly Clarkson's new single "My Life Would Suck Without You" catapults from the #97 position it held last week to the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, breaking the record for the largest leap to #1 in the chart's 50 year history. The previous record was set by Britney Spears' "Womanizer" which went from #96 to #1 in a week's time. This marks Kelly's first Hot 100 #1 since 2002's "A Moment Like This," which went from #52 to #1. In addition, the song holds the #1 spot on the Digital Chart with 279,605 sold in its first week. This is the 3rd biggest digital song debut for a female artist. "My Life Would Suck Without You" is the first single off Clarkson's fourth album titled All I Ever Wanted (19 Recordings/RCA Records). The release of All I Ever Wanted has moved up to March 10th. In her career to date, Clarkson has sold 16 million albums worldwide. She is the recipient of 2 Grammy Awards, 2 American Music Awards, 2 MTV Awards and 11 Billboard Awards. Kelly was on E News tonight. There's video at KCEMedia. Thanks for the video, beelzebub666 ! I also care very little about the "record" that Kelly broke, but doing so has it's positive buzz perks. This story already has made it to the front page of Billboard, yahoo, and soon to be other media outlets. What is far more important, I believe, is the #1 spot that Kelly so deservedly earned- well done Kelly/RCA/Strarstruck ! Amazing to see what having the label behind a hugely talented world-class artist can do ;)

so.. biggest leap to #1 in history. the only artist who broke the above record separately twice. first and only American Idol to have more than one #1 song on Hot 100. first and only AI to have #1 song on Hot 100 with the song that is not a coronation song. biggest jump ever? With only 2 weeks on radio, and she is only about 1,000 sales behind the most digital sales on debut week for a female artist. This is only the BEGINNING. keep yourself ready for it!!!

Well I am sure someone will beat this new record of biggest jump from Kelly soon and i don't even think it's a big deal so I'm not sure why even Britney fans wanted to keep it. it's more of a technicality achievement than anything else- many songs have gone to #1 in it's first week- that it ended up #97 is just sort of a fluke. It's not like it has been out for awhile and was at #97 and then people discovered it and put it in at #1. Now THAT would be an accomplishment. ???

Kelly actually has four American Music Awards. She won Artist of the Year and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and was nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist + Favorite Pop/Rock Album ("Breakaway") in 2005. She won Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist in 2006.

Can I just say how cute/adorable/awesome the video is?? She looks beautiful and it is nice to see her in playful mode.
And actually the video has helped me see the song lyrics in a different light...I know Kelly has explained the lyrics in recent radio interviews, but I really wasn't buying it...with the video...it helps me see the lyrics in that content.

Kelly looks absolutely adorable in the video - I love when she's by the window singing like in your avatar, kcchica. This era is off to such a wonderful start. I hope the second single does well. As many of you know, I'm a die-hard Mariah fan... and a bad second single choice completely ruined her era, but I think things are going to be different for Kelly this time around!

From EW.COM: PopWatch BlogKelly Clarkson: Her new video does NOT suck! (Nor do the five other tracks that we've heard!)If you happen to wander past my office at any point during the day, odds are you'll hear Kelly Clarkson's infectious new single, "My Life Would Suck Without You," playing. (Or "Elevator" from the new Pussycat Dolls album. Judge away, PopWatchers. I certainly would.) But Clarkson fans like me can rejoice because the former American Idol just released the new video for her hit single (which has broken records by leaping to No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart). Basically, a less angry "Since U Been Gone," the video has Kelly playfully arguing with a very hot fella. Who are you, sir? Maybe we should do introductions over drinks? But there's even more fun to come: I heard five tracks from Clarkson's album, All I Ever Wanted, and it's thankfully more Breakaway than My December. The second single, "I Do Not Hook Up," penned by Katy Perry, is a sassy delight and refreshingly prude with its non-promiscuous message. It just made me all the more anxious for the album's March 10 release date.

"thankfully more Breakaway than My December" Wow, why so much hate for that album? It was amazing. And if the other tracks all sound like MLWSWY then that's not a good thing. I don't like the I Don't Hook Up demo, but I have hope for the other tracks still.

Hook Up is going to be such a smash. I can't wait until everybody suddenly changes their opinion on it once they hear Kelly sing it. :)

I think it's a fantastic Pop song and with Kelly singing it I'm betting it will go to #1. Supposedly Kelly had some of the lyrics changed so if the lyrics as they are now put some people off then maybe the new ones will be more to their taste.

No dates have been announced, but the press release says that there will be major promotion for the week of March 9th, so expect most of them to be around that date.

I have a feeling this album will have huge opening numbers. As big as Britney, if not bigger.

I don't think she will open with Britney numbers but they will be better than the last outing and hopefully #1 which would give her again another record of the first Idol with two #1 albums on the Billboard Album chart.
