Clive Davis, Larry Jackson (Senior VP, A&R for RCA Music Group), and Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald play a pure demo of "My Life Would Suck Without You" for Bill Maher on Sundance Channel's "Iconoclasts" back on November 6, 2008.

Not only that but you can't really make out what the song really sounds like either.

Clive Davis needs to retire. IMO he made "Never Again" flop. That was a good song.

After I read the lyrics, I watched that video with the demo in it. I actually heard the line "You're standing at my door" in it. :) I can't wait for it to come out!

So what's Kelly Clarkson's 'My Life Would Suck Without You' actually like, then? As our Twitter followers already know, we went to Sony HQ earlier today. Our mission was to have a little listen to the new Kelly Clarkson single, 'My Life Would Suck Without You'. What's it like? Well, you cannot escape the fact that the intro is so similar to 'Since U Been Gone' you will probably think you are indeed listening to 'Since U Been Gone'. Lyrically the song does actually lend itself to thoughts of being a sort of 'Since U Been Gone Part Two' and one could, at a push, see it picking up that song's story four years on with Kelly realising that despite the earlier song's defiant howl of independence she does, in fact, want her ex back. 'My Life Would Suck Without You' is about the fella returning tail between legs ("guess this means you take back what you said before, like how much you wanted anyone but me") and a relationship starting up again and being quite jolly in spite of all the previous nonsense. The chorus goes "we belong together now, forever united here somehow, you got a piece of me and honestly my life would suck without you". Except it's not just "my life would suck without you", it's "my life (MY LIFE!) would suck (WOULD SUCK!) without you". "I know that I've got issues but you're pretty messed up too" is another good line; we also like the middle eight bit with "being with you is so dysfunctional, I really shouldn't miss you, but I can't let you go". It is structured like this: 1. Long intro with 'Since U Been Gone' guitary noise. 2. Vocal joins guitary nose with drumbeat. 3. Song explodes into chorus. 4. Song pulls back into second verse. 5. Chorus 6. Middle eight: everything drops out, 'Since U Been Gone' guitar noise starts up underneath vocal, drumbeats and Since U Been Gone guitar noise lead into big whooshing noise into... 7. Chorus which leads to hilarious 80s rolling synth drumfill thing (we don't know what it is but you'll know what we mean when you hear it) which leads to... 8. Final chorus, sudden end, guitar noise, 'fin'. There is no bridge. NO BRIDGE! Production is halfway between 'Since U Been Gone' and Pink's 'So What', with some drum machines chucked in. The song is three minutes and thirty two seconds long - only two seconds away from the Optimum Pop Duration - and comes in at about 145bpm. This BPM means that nightclub rotation will inspire more in the way of hands in the air/pointing/shouting than proper dancing. The song is better than anything Kelly did before 'Since U Been Gone' and it's also better than anything she's done since 'Since U Been Gone', so it should keep people happy. It is a pop song. www.popjustice.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3321&Itemid=206

Watch at 1:13 and 2:24 and see how they react to the song. Those little kids have no agenda and are just feeling the song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbwhZJPLUvw

These songs must be pretty good- too many who have listened to it are saying so. i don't remember anyone saying who heard "My December" before it was released saying there would be smash hits on it- in fact, most were saying "it's different....."- but please- I point that out but it I meant nothing about the quality of the CD- I'm just saying in terms of radio/chart hits, and no one predicted that for the songs of MD and it seems all those who have heard this one are saying that so in terms of potential chart hits, it seems more than likely she may have accomplished that with this one (which is not bashing MD- she obviously was not going for that on that CD)

Maybe this is like WBT, it has no bridge, and it all comes down to a sudden climax of just ear drooling belt

They've dumped her and started this really intense relationship with P!NK. People can love more than one artist at a time. Kelly GODson's point was that Kelly has been more successul in other countries, and I'm quite sure MD was more successful in Australia than it was in the U.S. Also, didn't Australia have an intense relationship with Pink before Kelly came along? I don't think the world is quite that black and white and just because Pink is doing phenomenally well in Australia at the moment, as she has done in the past, doesn't mean that they've "dumped" Kelly.

My December is certified gold in Australia which translates to 35,000 copies. If that is more successful than her sales in the U.S. then that's kind of sad really.

Wasn't My December certified platinum in America?
Platinum in the U.S.A., gold in Australia translates to - Australia loving her more. WTF?

Well she had a huge tour in Australia playing to 10,000-14,000 people each show.... Never Again hit Top 5 and I believe almost stayed on for a year One Minute hit Top 15 airplay without any promo Don't Waste Your Time also hit Top 15 airplay I think
Australia didn't ditch Kelly during My December at all.

^ She should've kept her original tour dates in the U.S. Even if every venue wasn't selling out, I'd rather had seen her solo than had to wait a year and see her with Reba.
