Didi's audition was great, but I prefer Kat's voice on this. I hope Didi goes far though.

Terrified is up big time on iTunes and Amazon. Its now #31 on Pop and #65 overall on iTunes. It should be higher as there are 2 versions posting. One from the regular CD and one from the Deluxe CD. They are identical and I wish they would combine them on the chart.

Depending on when Hollywood week was, Kat's song may not have been released, and thus it wouldn't have been "Kat's song." Or, she may simply have been searching youtube for Kara songs and found Kara's version of Terrified. |

Hollywood week was in early January this year to accommodate Ellen but it still may have been too soon for her to know it was on Kat's CD. Still people are finding it as it is now up to #51 overall on iTunes and still climbing.
As I think we are nearing single #2 I think it will be hard for them to ignore the reaction to the song when picking which one to go with. I would prefer a different song for #2 but I'm ok with going with Terrified. I think it should be a single at some point just wasn't too excited for it to be #2. So if they go Terrified then How I'm good. I will say this is a good example of the power of Idol and that if people get to hear Kat's new sound they will buy it. The Idol exposure is just something you can't deny.

Didi Benami's performance of "Terrified" on the February 9th episode of American Idol may be gaining her some fans, but there's something she left out. The song "Terrified" is written by Kara DioGuardi (which Didi mentioned) and Jason Reeves. Jason Reeves is a songwriter who has worked with Colbie Caillat, Demi Lovato, and Katharine McPhee. On Didi's MySpace, she mentions that she has worked with Jason before, stating, "Special Thanks to Jason Reeves for being a magical genius collaborator. I look forward to seeing you again soon...and keep the magic flowing...."
So as much as Idol wants to portray Didi as a random waitress with a dead friend who decided to try out for Idol, she's actually a singer in Los Angeles with connections to songwriters. She hasn't exactly worked with mega stars, but she's clearly a lot more connected than the other contestants. That's a little different than the show's spinning it.
So I guess she knew the song from Jason.

Katharine McPhee needs to write Didi Benami a thank-you note. As a result of Didi's performance of Terrified during the "lines" episode of American Idol, downloads of Katharine's track increased by nearly 10,000 percent, from a couple hundred the week before to nearly 20,000.

I'm confused about all of these performances. I think she's performed nearly every song on the album. How are people supposed to know a Katharine song when they hear it if she's performing a new one for every tv appearance?

Honestly, her promo appearances for this album have been incredible...she's basically done all the big TV shows. If she performs the same song on all the TV shows, people will just flip the channel because they've already seen her perform it. Plus, they're still debating what single #2 is going to be (even though I'm pretty sure it's 'Terrified') so this is a good way to get feedback |

I agree. She's not trying to push a single anyway, she's trying to get people to buy her album. I'm sure she and the label are well aware that this album does not have much CHR potential.
