Catchy, but overplayed. I still listen to this song every once in a while.

One of the best songs to come out of the 90s!

I like it, though it didn't need that many weeks at #1. A few more to "Iris" would have been fine. Good thing I've never been a constant listener to pop radio or I'm sure I would have hated this song.

How many weeks did it spend at number 1? And how many weeks did Iris too? :)

Natalie spent 11 weeks atop the Chr/Pop charts, the Goo Goo Dolls spent 4 with Iris.

Natalie spent 11 weeks atop the Chr/Pop charts, the Goo Goo Dolls spent 4 with Iris. I never knew both songs were such huge hits, but especially Torn, wow :o Much deserved for both though!

Casey Kasem recently told a story about how Natalie considers this song both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because of it's huge success, but a curse because people's expectations of future success were raised too high as a result (and then she couldn't deliver an equally huge follow-up.)

Never got sick of this song. It seems the first single from each of her albums tends to be my favorite. I could listen to this, Wrong Impression (the radio mix) and Shiver over and over and over.
Peace, Ben

I like it but there was a version from 1996 by Trine Reine that was much better. It went to #1 in Norway (Rick Dees played a drop of it once).

I heard the dance mix by someone other than Natalie this weekend. I love all the versions I've heard so far.

Nice song , it's a shame that her follow-ups never got the attention they deserved.

I love it. Her follow up was alright, it didn't hold a candle to this.

I liked it for a little while in 1998, but by July, I hated it. I CANNOT stand to listen to it anymore. The video was dumb too.

Torn got to #47 on the Hot 100 in the first week of letting stations of all formats be eligible for the Hot 100

Natalie Imbruglia, the one hit wonder from down under. I liked this tune though, along with Smoke.
