I'm intrigued by this. Is there any particular reason why DMB doesn't appeal to anybody here? Seems like they would, considering.

I like DMB. I don't own any of their albums, but I like them. And I'll check out their new album. Maybe I'll keep it if it happens to appeal to my liking.

I like them a lot. I just haven't liked their recent stuff as much as their old stuff. Well really, I just loved Before These Crowded Streets. One of my all-time favorite albums. Even metal-heads can dig that one. Otherwise I've just liked scattered material over their career.

I prefer DMB to Counting Crows and Third Eye Blind actually. But don't ask the 90's me about it, I was a much bigger 3EB fan in my single-digit years, and I really didn't care for DMB much until recently, like 3 or 4 years..

Before These Crowded Streets is their best album easily. It's such a classic, it should be heard by anyone who enjoys good music!

April 27th is the add date. It's going to Alternative and Active.

I've never owned any Matthews material except for the live DVD at Central Park. And that's only because they covered Cortez The Killer with Warren Haynes. Clearly the highlight of the concert. But I agree that this band doesn't seem like the Modern or even rock type at all. Just another Grateful Dead or Phish to me, which isn't a bad thing. But that just raises the question of why Phish was never big on Alternative either. They certainly tried with "Free" and "Heavy Things". Where I went to college, the Active Rock station played Phish's "Bouncing 'Round The Room" a few times a week and no one complained that they were playing it next to Staind and Limp Bizkit. I even heard "Bouncing 'Round The Room" on the neighboring market's CHR station once! I don't understand why Alternative radio shuns the jam bands so much. Another example: XM Ethel used to play some old-school OAR ("King Of The Thing", "Delicate Few", and "That Was A Crazy Game of Poker" are a few I remember hearing), and it didn't sound out of place next to Anberlin or the Ting Tings. Anyway, as for DMB, I mostly agree with crash46. Their last truly great album was Before These Crowded Streets and these days DMB shows are more about nostalgia than the band's current output. There were a couple of great songs on Busted Stuff, but for the most part, post-Crowded Streets DMB just doesn't resonate with me. I'll keep an open mind for the upcoming album though, because you never know when a veteran band is going to surprise you.

I like it. I don't know how well it will do at Alternative though, or even Hot AC.

I like it, too -- I like all their stuff, though. They're so awesome live.

DMB seems to typically be a love-or-hate kind of band. I'd say I'm kind of lukewarm of them, on the other hand.
I liked the first two singles from Busted Stuff quite a bit, though. But "What Would You Say" is my favorite; that's probably the choice for most casuals.

This is the additional DMB classic that I was waiting for all these years. They're back to form this time- instant classic.

This is very good. Carter Beauford's drumming is killer as always. This should be big on alternative if people forgive them for their last album or two. And it is hard enough that it would sorta make sense on Active, though I have a hard time seeing lots of active rock stations jumping on it.

Well I'm not going back on what I said before, I just don't find this overly exciting....I will however say that this is better than I expected it was going to be. Nothing I can see myself going nuts for anytime soon but stranger things have happened. I do like the funky breakdowns in the song.
Does anyone else think he sounds exactly like Sting in this song?

It's awesome and fantastic!! This really deserves good airplay. I'm a huge DMB fan and I've been waiting for this one for a long time, I didn't know what to expect after SU, but this is better than I expected.

Well, I heard it on my local Alt. about 15 minutes after I'd downloaded it and played it. Totally unexpected too; they skipped right over "American Baby" and all of them (they did play "Grey Street" though).
It's alright. Long way to go before it's among their elite hits. But it's a good song.

This is the best single they've had in years. I like it quite a bit.
It's thrilling to hear Carter throw in all those complex rhythms and how effortless he makes it sound. Even in my prime, it would take me maybe a week of studying nothing but this song in order to nail it.

I'm surprised at how good this is. This may become my favorite single of theirs once I get used to it ahead of "What Would You Say" & "Tripping Billies."

Somebody said their station played it, right? So it is at least getting a handful of spins. Also, it did get something like five or six adds this week at alternative.
