My scans of Selena's April 2010 Texas Monthly cover are up. The scans are up here! It includes new revelations that Y.S. sabotaged one of Selena's fashion shows, fired Selena's friends from her business one by one, stalked her lead fashion designer. There's so many new things on there, interesting read. outtakes from photoshoots were included.

Selena talking about working with Bryan Adams, David Byrne, Michael Bolton and other collabs she was planning on before her demise. This is one of her last major interviews, the day after the 1995 Grammy's and she's talking about meeting people, and her recording of A Boy Like That, and how excited she was to meet other celebs, even though people were yelling her name on the streets of LA and following her around, she still didn't see her self as famous.
this is a rare video, I've only seen bits and pieces of this interview, and this is only the first half.

La Leyenda debuted at #8 on the Latin album charts, and I think #3 on Mexican regional albums or something. I'm shocked that overpriced box set charted anywhere, but whatever that solidifies Selena's position as having the most top 10's(for a female) on the latin CD chart. I think she has 13 now?
Selena Gomez is also re-recording Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, it's unclear if this is for a project of Gomez/Disney or if its affiliated with A.B. Quintanilla.

OMG, so much news. Eva Longoria comments how Selena would have been bigger than all of us, and talks about her a bit toward the beginning. Aparrently some girl who wan a recent contest (which garnered Telemundo more viewers than they had ever had in history) Le Doble De Selena well the winner of that contest was signed by her father's recording comany Rumor has it he's going to try and get her to cover a lot of Selena's songs and become the next Selena, and live his dream, he's crazy and really old though, I feel bad for the girl all they are doing is exploiting her (her dad) just like he always has. There is the source A complete set list you can download of audio from a rare concert, quite interesting. That's the review from a fan buster who had been to that concert, here are a few of the pics he has in that thread, here's a couple.

voxxi.com/2014/03/29/selena-quintanilla-fashion-trend/playlist/selena-quintanilla-style/item/277847 That article is showing how Selena set all the fashion v tends years before some of these girls came around, she was a fashion d designer long before.www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/still-missing-selena-here-are-6-reasons-why-n66031Still Missing Selena: Here Are 6 Reasons WhyCOLLAPSE STORY BY RAUL A. REYES For Abraham Quintanilla of Corpus Christi, Texas, Monday marks an emotional anniversary. It has been nineteen years since the death of his daughter, singer Selena Quintanilla Perez, known to the world simply as “Selena.” She died March 31, 1995, after being shot by the president of her fan club. Selena was 23. Now 75 years old and the grandfather of 8, Quintanilla said it is bittersweet to meet fans of Selena, many of whom were too young to really remember the pop star who has sold over 60 million albums worldwide. advertisement “It makes me feel good that after so many years people still remember my daughter," he reflected. "But at the same time I would rather that she be here.” PAUL HOWELL / HOUSTON CHRONICLE VIA AP FILE Selena works on one of her songs in a Corpus Christi studio in March 1995. Selena's death struck a collective nerve, and the emotions have reverberated for years. When former President George W. Bush was Governor of Texas he named April 12th "Selena Day" in honor of her birthday, and there are still celebrations every year. There was a postage stamp issued in her name, and there is a Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas, Here are 6 reasons for Selena's enduring legacy: 1. Millions of Latinos related to her bicultural life. Selena was an international singing sensation who sold out stadiums, but lived in a modest home next door to her parents. She dressed provocatively and was called “The Mexican Madonna,” yet she married her first and only boyfriend. And like so many Latinos, she navigated two cultures and managed to be comfortable in both. In fact, despite her renown as “The Queen of Tejano Music,” Selena was not a native Spanish speaker. Her Latin music career was already taking off when she decided to study Spanish, so that she could feel more confident expressing herself. Selena’s death was a revelation to corporate America about the power of the Latino consumer market. In the aftermath of her passing, “Selena-mania” became a real phenomenon. advertisement 2. Her shocking death touched off an unprecedented outpouring of grief. Texas historian Joe Nick Patoski, author of Selena: Como la flor, recalled the day when Selena passed away. “I’m old enough to remember Dallas and JFK,” he said, “and it seemed like the same thing all over again. For Mexican-Americans in Texas, the reaction was intense and deeply personal. To this day, an entire generation remembers where they were when they heard the news.” In cities like San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Patoski said, impromptu shrines, memorials and vigils for Selena sprang up. He describes the public reaction to her passing as “amazing, heartfelt, and profound.” The Associated Press reported that after her death, there was a rise in newborns in Texas being named Selena; pop singer Selena Gomez, born in 1992, was also named for Selena. JEFF HAYNES / AFP-GETTY IMAGES FILE Estella Leak wipes away tears during a memorial tribute for the slain Grammy-winning pop star Selena on April 2, 1995 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. 3. Selena’s death was a revelation to corporate America about the power of the Latino consumer market. In the aftermath of her passing, “Selena-mania” became a real phenomenon. A special edition of People Magazine devoted to Selena sold out immediately (its success led to the creation of People en Español). According to Deborah Paredez, author of "Selenidad: Selena, Latinos, and the Performance of Memory," Selena changed the way marketers looked at Latinos. “Her death served as a cue to the larger culture that Latinos were becoming more visible, more important,” she said. “Selena spurred the growth of the Hispanic market. Our culture became a hot commodity.” 4. Selena had broad appeal among Latinos and non-Latinos. Her fusion of musical genres won her a wide and enduring fan base. “A range of Latinos really connected with her,” Paredez said. “She drew from pop, Tejano, calypso, Afro-Caribbean, and cumbia music, so she signaled across a lot of cultural identities.” What’s more, Selena posthumously achieved her dream of mainstream success. Her album, Dreaming of You (1995), became the fastest-selling album by a female artist in pop history. The Hollywood film about her life (1997), gave Jennifer Lopez the breakout role that made her a star. In addition, there have been books, a record-breaking tribute concert, two stage musicals, a national search for “Selena’s Double,” and innumerable TV profiles. Selena's husband, 44-year-old Chris Perez, said that even he was surprised by the success of his 2012 book, To Selena, With Love. “Our signings have been super-packed, and the fans have been great,” said Perez. 5. Selena’s loved ones have kept her memory alive. Her father is running Q-Productions, a management company and recording studio. Brother “A.B.” Quintanilla is a music producer. Selena's husband Chris Perez, who won a 1999 Grammy Award for his album Resurrection, is working on songwriting and an upcoming solo project, and staying in touch with fans through his Facebook page. advertisement “There haven’t been enough people like her in the Latino community,” said author Paredez,” so people continue to turn to her, to commemorate her.” 6. Selena the performer became Selena the "icon." Like other celebrities who passed away too soon, from Marilyn Monroe to John Lennon, Selena has become larger than life, almost legendary. Historian Patoski notes, “In our memory, she will always be young, she will always be full of promise.” Meanwhile, public fascination with Selena continues because Hispanics, even the younger generations, still claim her as their own. “There haven’t been enough people like her in the Latino community,” said author Paredez,” so people continue to turn to her, to commemorate her.” Selena’s husband Chris Perez said it is easy to understand why he - as well as so many fans - miss her. “I haven’t met anybody like her,” he said. “She was definitely one of a kind.” First published March 31st 2014, 6:08 am RAUL A. Selena was a huge influence on me as a child. I randomly heard I Could Fall in Love on the radio a couple weeks ago and I've been binge watching her perforamces, listening to her interviews and re familiarized myself with her catalog. Such an amazing talent. Every live performance was spot on PERFECT. Also in one of the radio station interview's I listened to I recently got to hear Selena sing a line from a country song and it just melted my heart. Its such a shame we never got to see Selena in the English market. I think she would have been just as versatile singer as KC.

Selena and Shakira taught me Spanish. My Dreaming Of You CD is one of the few CDs I own that is fatally scratched so I probably need to get a new one. My favorite songs from that album:
1. I Could Fall In Love 2. Dreaming Of You 3. Toro Relajo 4. Techno Cumbia (JAMMMM) 5. Como La Flor 6. Missing My Baby
There wasn't a bad song on the album though.

I have a goldmine of rare footage and audio even an alternate version for part of dreaming of you she recorded. She could have sang any genre, and she did. She actually performed country before latin music. Eva longoria said it right she would have been bigger than all of us. I hope that pig remembers everyday what she took from us. Her versatility was similar to kc actually.

Where's the alternative version of "Dreamin of You"?!? :o

There was an alternate intro or something, and there were other notes and vocal runs that were cut from the final version I heard.
I have a bunch of rare performances and parts of her from puro tejano among an other rare interviews. I'll have to check my vault.
Was just watching disco medley and it broke my heart hearing her singing "I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give" to die five years later.

Ever since I watched the Selena movie I completely fell in love with Selena and Jennifer I was 8 at that time. Although my admiration for J.Lo kinda decreased over the years Selena is still one of my favourites and nothing can touch this. I honestly would recognize her voice anywhere and I could not think of anyone else who sings with so much genuine emotions – every word she sang meant it, and it give me chills everytime I listen to her. I try not to think too much about the way she died. It’s really to much to handle for me at times. She was murdered by her own menager. Someone who supposed to take care of her. Someone to whom she was really friendly to, and expected nothing but the same in return. But this bitch shot her in the back instead and Selena knew who did this to her. It just so unfair that those with the biggest potential are taken away way too early Aaliyah, Jeff Buckley and Selena being just few of them. My ratings SPANISH: Si una Vez Como La Flor No Me Queda Más God's Child (Baila Conmigo) Amor Prohibido El Chico Del Apartamento 512 Techno Cumbia Fotos y Recuerdos Tú Sólo Tú Bidi Bidi Bom Bom ENGLISH: I Could Fall in Love Dreaming of You Missing My Baby I'm Getting Used to You Where did the Feeling Go? Captive Heart My Love Always Mine Is It the Beat? It's probably my favourire pic from her. Shorter hair really suited her imo.

Thanks for sharing your story.I agree on her emotional voice. Tu solo tu made me just want to die. Uou could just feel the pain and heartache.
I'm surprised she isn't more recognized on this forum considering nearly every major pop artist has cited her as a major inspirations and spurred an unprecedented Latin music explosion

I heard he has added another chapter and re-released it or something. It's that type of book where you know the ending but you don't want it to end. But I learned a lot of things about Selena that I didn't know. Selena was ahead of time in so manay ways. The things we see artists doing know especially when it comes to branding. She was doing 25 years ago.
