Www.selenaforever.com/SelenaPictures2/sel%2032.jpgRare pic taken shortly before her death. Has anyone ever heard the Con Tanto Amor mix? Its amazing, her brother did posthumously. Gotta get around to reading that book asap. She passes away 17 days before her 24th birthday and it's about to be 17 days until my 24th birthday, eerie.

I'll be going to the Latin Billboard Music Awards tonight. Jennifer Lopez is doing a tribute to Selena. Can't believe it's been 20 years. :(
I first discovered Selena when I was 6, her murder was being reported all over the news and it was such a sad story. I'll never forget hearing "Dreaming Of You" and "I Could Fall In Love" all over the radio. Once the biopic released, my family and friends watched it a million times and we all became fans.

it's cool that J.Lo regularly mentions and pays tribute to her still, feels like yesterday I was watching her death unfold on CNN. I was convinced her killer was going to shoot herself as well. Selena graced a stage like few others.

Dreaming of You never ever ever fails to make me cry. Literally, I will cry even if I hear the first note.

This is my jam right now. I can't stop listening to it. Muevele, muevele y alto...
I was watching Selena Vive (2005) and I don't see how some of the performers felt they were paying tribute to Selena, they were a hot mess! Shaky vocals, lip syncing, inappropriate dancing and clothing for this kind of event. Not to take away from some of the night's great performances by Olga Tanon (La Llamada), Ana Gabriel (Tu Solo Tu), Gloria Estefan (I Could Fall In Love), and India (No Debes Jugar). Whoever put this show together should do a complete revamp soon and get adequate performances, Selena deserves better.
Ana Barbara butchered La Carcacha.
I don't know what Alejandra Guzman did to Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.

I just watched a video stating Selena could have been saved but her parents didn't allow her to have a blood transfusion since they were devout Catholics?

That rumor has been around since 95. It's not true. By the time she got to the hospital she had already lost way too much blood. She also wasn't pregnant at the time. Which is another common rumor the resurfaces every few years.

Yeah that's a fake rumor. She was dead by the time she got to the hospital. The bullet hit her in that main artery one has on the side of the neck.

Indeed, the placing of wound was very unfortunate. She was basically bleeding to death on the lobby floor. Her biggest mistake was underestimating Yolanda. Selena didn't realise how dangerous she was before it was too late. Maybe it wouldn't end up like this if Chris went with her. But we'll never know... The killer was so desperate and unstable that she could shoot them both.
On more positive note It's still my fav Selena performance... Her moves & voice. That look. She's giving me major 1980s Janet vibes..

Telemundo has produced a telenovela about the life, death, and career of Selena called El Secreto De Selena. Fans are outraged about it before it has even aired. The trailer that was released last week contained some graphic scenes of the murder. Selena's father is trying to block the airing of the program.

can't say I blame Abraham for trying to block that particular TV show from airing Whatever they're using as a basis for this is an account of when they say happened which may differ considerably from what actually took place. If they really wanted to make a program like this, perhaps they could have changed the names and some situations and fictionalized some of it and done it that way. Given the way she died, they need to be very sensitive to how they are portraying everything. This is really tacky and unnecessary, considering that the movie with Jennifer Lopez is so well done and covers everything without being sensationalized or campy.

I'm disappointed that they want to capitalize off of Selena's murder. It's in poor taste. They need to pull the show.

The second bullet never enter any part of her body because it had missed while she was running away from Yolanda.

Yeah, I was 7 when she died. I probably didn't know much about her until I watch her story on "Behind the Music" on Vh-1 and the movie. I remember when I was little, every time I would see a Days Inn motel, it made me think about Selena and how she ended up dead at a Days Inn motel.

The killer was so desperate and unstable that she could shoot them both. On more positive note It's still my fav Selena performance... Her moves & voice. That look. She's giving me major 1980s Janet vibes.. Yeah, the BIGGEST mistake she ever made in her life was going to that motel room alone. I've read statements from her father saying that he believed that Yolanda had made multiple attempts before to get Selena in that motel room alone, but couldn't, because there were "too many witnesses" around that had stalled her malicious plans like her fans and husband. Yolanda had even tried the night before she killed Selena, but Chris, her husband, told Selena that he didn't want her driving alone at night and that it was already getting late. Unfortunately, he didn't know that Selena had agreed to meet with Yolanda that following morning. Had he known, I'm sure he would have went with her. I have read his book and remembering him saying something like "Damn it, Selena!!! You should have never went to that motel room alone", after he had learned about her passing. The poor guy had spent years feeling so guilty about not being able to protect Selena from Yolanda. Gosh, I really can't stop thinking how heart-wrenching this is, and what Selena's poor family had went through. Yolanda is supposed to get out on parole in the next five years, but she would be much better off staying in prison for the rest of her life, just knowing that she's much pretty one of the most hated woman on the planet.
It's very difficult for me to forgive someone who is principally responsible for why Selena is no longer here with us, and had such evil intentions in her heart. She is the reason why Selena was never able to fulfill the rest of her dreams...like completing her crossover album and having children. I just read an old interview last night, where she mentions that was all what's left for her to accomplish. Yolanda took away so much. She took away Selena from her fans and family for her own selfish, senseless gain.
Sorry if I'm rambling, but I just love Selena so much and get really passionate when it comes to her, her death is one of the few celebrity deaths that still struck a nerve to me, and that I just simply can't get over. I never knew her personally, but it's like losing a family member. She had the kind of personality, looks, talent, and music that made you want to fall madly in love with her, and even if you take a break from her, the interest in her just keeps getting resparked.

Becky G, Pitbull & A.B. Quintanilla III to Headline Selena 25 Years Tribute Concert: See the Full Lineup
2/18/2020 by Jessica Roiz
A Selena tribute concert is on its way in celebration of the late Mexican-American singer, whose music continues to connect people of all ages, races, and cultures together, Billboard can confirm.
Dubbed as Selena XXV-Veinticinco AΓ±os and honoring 25 years of her legacy, the announcement was made Tuesday morning (Feb. 18) by Q Productions, at the helm of the Quintanilla family. The one-day concert will take place from noon to 11:45 p.m. (local time) on Saturday, May 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The star-studded lineup includes Pitbull, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, A.B. Quintanilla III & Los Kumbia Allstarz, Becky G, Elida & Avante, Ruben Ramos, Pete Astudillo, Gilbert Velasquez, Ricardo CastillΓ³n, Ally Brooke, Isabel Marie, and The Lab, who are all gathering to pay tribute to the βComo La Florβ singer, who passed away March 31, 1995. The event is set to close with a memorable laser tribute show presented by H-E-B.
βWe are excited to bring this ultimate fan experience to honor and celebrate my sister, Selena,β said Suzette Quintanilla, CEO/president of Q Productions in an official statement. βOver the past 25 years, her influence and relevance have only grown throughout generations. Through our father, Abraham Quintanilla, we were taught to persevere in the face of adversity and to work hard to accomplish our dreams. Those core values, along with her amazing talent and ability to connect with people has helped sustain Selenaβs legacy and it is what makes her an impactful and an important role model 25 years later.β
Known as the Queen of Tejano, Selena and her brother A.B. Quintanilla, who produced her biggest hits, single-handedly revolutionized the Tejano industry, incorporating their Mexican-American background in music.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, she overcame many obstacles while keeping it classy and real. With her bedazzled bustiers and high-waisted pants, she managed to be sexy without objectifying her image. Her music, including timeless hits such as βBidi Bidi Bom Bomβ and βAmor Prohibido,β had a universal appeal. She ultimately put the Latino community on the map by breaking barriers and making history as the first Tejano artist to nab a Grammy in 1993.
Selenaβs legacy continues to shine on the charts, on social media, on street murals, in clothing lines and makeup brands, as an example of a true Latin icon in pop culture.
βMy family and I are excited to celebrate this special moment of her 25 year legacy in San Antonio, Texas with her fans around the world,β Quintanilla expressed. βSan Antonio and the Alamodome have always held a special place in our hearts and weβre honored that the city of San Antonio has welcomed us.β
In the official statement, San Antonio Texas Mayor Ron Nirenberg noted that the city is committed to make the Selena XXV - Veinticinco AΓ±os tribute concert an event to remember.
Tickets range from $40 to $200 and are already available at the Alamodome Box Office or via Ticketmaster. For performance schedules and other concert information visit www.selena25.com.
