I haven't heard anything from the album yet, or even seen a track list. I imagine we'll have one before the end of the month. 1. Between The Lines 2. Take A Load Off 3. Huckleberry Crumble 4. Hickory Dichotomy 5. Dare If You Dare 6. Cinnamon 7. Hazy Daze 8. Bagman 9. Peacoat 10. Fast As I Can 11. First Kiss On Mars 12. Maver Yeah, that tracklisting was released all the way back on February 25th. Not only that but since then STP has streamed three of those tracks on Amazon for people to listen to. Way to stay on top of the game, Ziff.

I like top. My vote is for Huckleberry Crumble on the title alone.
EDIT : Nice timing, E.S.P.N. played Take A Load Off in their pregame show. Pretty good song for one listen. That is now my bet as the next release.

I wonder if they're going to release a second single soon?

Hardly, but still a step back. Which band is better is obviously debatable. Success is hard to tell because the tenure of each band is not comparable. But Velvet Revolver had a #1 album and #1 singles much quicker than Stone Temple Pilots did. I wholeheartedly disagree that returning to STP is a step back. STP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Velvet Revolver anyday, easily. So what that Velvet Revolver is a "supergroup"? That doesn't mean the music is better.

Sweeeeet they are still streaming them. I like what I hear...Hickory Dichotomy is a little odd, but I am loving the other two, Bagman and Huckleberry Crumble....maybe not what I was expecting from them, but great. I love STP, and I think almost not at all because of Scott Weiland- the DeLeo brothers are great! I mean I like Scott's vocals but I never loved any of his other projects like I love STP.

Never tried Amazon.com and the first time I hear a new song it won't be through a streaming source.
I wasn't implying Velvet Revolver is better than Stone Temple Pilots, but I still think they are. I only meant Weiland was used to being with these mega-stars, and now has to go back to the relative obscureness that is Stone Temple Pilots, a long forgotten band by many. But with the success of this single, it has to make the healing a little easier.

Relative obscureness? I mean I know G 'n' R is more famous than either band, but I'm pretty sure more people have heard of STP than VR.

Obscure as in hasn't been around in a decade. I'm sure the brand name of Stone Temple Pilots was big, but that's been a while.

Obscure as in hasn't been around in a decade. I'm sure the brand name of Stone Temple Pilots was big, but that's been a while. They haven't had an album out in ten years, but anyone who listens to rock radio knows who they are. They have lots of heavy recurrent play with several different singles.

Over and over in this thread, Artie shows his complete lack of intelligence .... there's just too many things to quote my head would explode.
I have to comment on one thing though.....Artie, if you really think STP is "obscure" because they haven't been around as a band for ten years you need to check yourself into a class on rock music 101. STP is regarded by many critics and fans alike as one of the best rock bands of the last twenty years and even are compared favorably to classic artists like the Rolling Stones. Now, honestly the only reason, and I do mean the only reason the DeLeo brothers are not as well known is because they were never ones looking to hog the presses with bullshit that had nothing to do with music. Guns N Roses honestly has as part of their lasting legacy so much inner strife it's almost embarrassing with all their members. The DeLeo's wanted to avoid all that when Weiland was pulling his drug addled antics. I do respect Slash but I would honestly put up STP's musical legacy against GNR's any day.

I agree that STP can stand up to GNR. GNR lasted just a few years with the original lineup. They basically have Appetite, Use Your Illusion, and Spaghetti Incident, if that counts. I personally do not even consider them GNR when Slash isn't there, so Chinese Democracy doesn't count. Axle is the only one left. STP on the other hand has had the same lineup the whole time. They had 5 albums in the 90s/early 00s. The first three had several huge hits that are recurrent today. They aren't obscure, unless you're 12 and only listen to top 40 radio. Then maybe.

Don't forget GN'R Lies. Some of the best drunken one-take acoustic recordings ever made! It's hard for me to accept Chinese Democracy as well. It's pretty much like the new Alice In Chains, a glorified solo album.
If they get another #1 of this album, obscure goes out the window.
But again, I wasn't comparing the quality of the bands. I just wondered how Weiland would react to being away from the all star lineup. No biggie obviously!

Ziff cannot imagine anyone not wanting to be in a band with Slash. It is just impossible for him to conceive.

Well, probably because it's true! The Clapton of our generation, who wouldn't want to record something with him?

I'm thinking Weiland is far more comfortable being in STP than he was in VR. I also the the supergroup trend is kinda over...Audioslave, Velvet Revolver, both dead. What do we have now, Chickenfoot? lol....

I imagine Audioslave will be back around the block before the end of this decade. They seemed to really enjoy making records.

I think we'll probably see new Rage and Soundgarden before Cornell and the others decide to regroup again for Audioslave. Things didn't exactly end well from Cornell's last words on the subject.

I think you're probably right, although from what I heard they only broke up for business reasons. Cornell was obligated to a different label than the guys from Rage, or something like that. I heard him on a radio interview a while back. I really enjoyed Audioslave. I saw them in concert and they were awesome. I enjoy the other two bands though, as well.

I think both of those will happen. But I also think Audioslave will regroup eventually. And I just noticed Hellyeah listed among supergroups. What makes them that??

Hellyeah is an American heavy metal supergroup, consisting of Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett, Nothingface guitarist Tom Maxwell, Damageplan bassist Bob Zilla, and former Pantera, Rebel Meets Rebel and Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul.
