You shouldn't have much to worry about, but I would have preferred it if bands like Drowning Pool, Bullet For My Valentine, and Sevendust could have gotten there as they've never had #1s. That said, all three of those bands got career highs, so that's awesome. And I didn't really like "Feel Like I Do" so I guess I wouldn't have wanted it to go to #1 even if I generally root for Drowning Pool to do well.

I'll give it 6-7 weeks before it goes to the top.

Moves 27-24 on the Alternative chart this week. It's slowed down quite a bit.

I don't think this is going to have as much longevity as Inside the Fire. I'll give it maybe 5-6 weeks at the top.

#1 on Active: 2 1 DISTURBED Another Way To Die 1794 1699 95 5.547 This certainly has struggled to claim the top spot, especially for a lead single of theirs. I happen to think the songwriting here is just lazily lame, and quite a few Portland friends of mine who enjoy listen to Disturbed agree. The musicianship goes some distance in saving the song from being a complete mess, but the weak lyrics are quite visible, and I'd argue even polarizing, given that Americans appear to be split along partisan lines about whether global warming is a real phenomenon or not (I, without question, believe climate change is an ever-growing problem we need to approach, but I don't necessarily believe the world is getting hotter so much as weather patterns are getting more erratic) Five Finger Death Punch may very well leave Disturbed's reign at a mere one or two weeks. And I'm also afraid that it won't even hit Top 10 on Alternative. Maybe #15 if they're lucky

This should have reached the Top 20 on Alternative based on the success of the singles from the last album. I really don't see why it's still stuck at #21.

This should have reached the Top 20 on Alternative based on the success of the singles from the last album. I really don't see why it's still stuck at #21. I think it's because "The Night" was still peaking not so long ago, that as far as alternative radio is concerned, this is almost like the 4th single off 'Indestructible'. If another year had passed, this probably would have gone top 10. Active rock doesn't need to hype to love Disturbed though, so thus it's a shoe-in #1 there.

Probably could be true, but there is also the fact that this doesn't really sound like anything off Indestructible. Also, this is going backwards again. I really want this song to do well so I hope it picks up.

Top 20 on Alternative:

About time this reaches here, even if it's because Letters From the Sky goes recurrent.

#1 album on iTunes. TAKE THAT KATY PERRY!

#1 album on iTunes. TAKE THAT KATY PERRY! I think it was pretty obvious from the beginning Katy Perry would have her week at #1, then Disturbed would be #1 the following week. Katy Perry lacks the established tried-and-true fanbase Disturbed has. The former just isn't the type of artist that inspires legions of listeners to buy the record at once; whose success is more based on how well follow-up singles will perform for her, much like most Mainstream Top 40-centric albums ("Animal", "The Dutchess", "One of the Boys", "The Fame", etc.) prove to be. Perry is a singles artist, who isn't seen yet by most listeners as a serious artist and more a bewitching flavor-of-the-year, which time will tell if she has any longevity in the industry. Disturbed, in contrast, are widely seen as serious artists with a disciplined work ethic. Moreover, they are increasingly being seen as elder statesmen in their genre, which translates into impressive longevity on their part. When you have that, you're more likely to draw strong opening week numbers in record sales, which indeed has been demonstrated with the three previous releases from Disturbed despite the lack of crossover airplay and limited commercial promotion. I'd bet the farm that more people know who Katy Perry is than Disturbed.
I'm not saying that this correlates to record sales, but I'm just saying...

I'd bet the farm that more people know who Katy Perry is than Disturbed. I'm not saying that this correlates to record sales, but I'm just saying... I never argued more people know Disturbed than they do Katy Perry. What I'm saying is that, when it comes to the music and artistry itself, I think Disturbed has a far more solid "I've heard of them!" to "I've listened to their material and I appreciate it!" ratio than Katy Perry does. There's no doubt Katy Perry has had plenty of hits already, but it seems she is just as well known for being a tabloid fixture than a singer/songwriter, and to many her music isn't seen as art but rather a capitalizing on youth culture and writing declaratory wallpaper anthems from it that appeal more to instant gratification than long-term staying power. Even though I think Draiman exaggerates it when often touts the band's work as "all killer, no filler" in that they do have weaker album cuts, it is also true that Disturbed seem to be regarded as closer to an album artist than most. And when it comes to consistency commercially, I predict Disturbed will easily be the far more resilient act than Katy Perry (or about any Mainstream Top 40-centric artist besides Lady Gaga and Beyonce, for that matter) Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

After 10 years of rock success, no one beyond a rock fan has any idea of Disturbed's existence. That tells me that they will NEVER have staying power beyond a rock niche. So elevating Disturbed above a Katy Perry or Lady Gaga or Beyonce, who have conquered the music industry as a whole, makes no sense to me when they aren't even in the same league! I admit that I don't have a sense of the record sales for the last record for each of Katy Perry and Disturbed, which I would be curious to know. But I will still hold that in combining record sales, single sales, touring, general marketing, etc., etc., Katy Perry will blow Disturbed out of the water not only when comparing the two current records but when comparing their complete final career works as a whole. Nothing against Disturbed, but they are small potatoes. A rock band with a wider audience, such as Linkin Park or U2, would be a better comparison.
