Other songs have been brought up because they are still getting recurrent airplay. "Only Prettier" is getting passed up because there is a lot of competition, and this song is not a lead single like just about all the others out there (Kenny, Taylor, Sugarland, RF, ZBB, Brad, Reba, Jason, and soon Keith). Sure, this song is moving up because other songs are going recurrent, but isn't that how a lot of songs move up? Josh Turner, Easton, LBT, Rodney are some current examples. Miranda's song is moving up on her newly-founded starpower, indeed, but as I've said before, I don't think that this song (being a 4th single) was expected to blaze a trail up the charts. I wouldn't rule out the top 10 completely yet, but I'm not saying she'll get there either.

I'm SO ready for a new single.
The more I hear this song, the more I can't stand it.

I'm SO ready for a new single. The more I hear this song, the more I can't stand it. I'm also ready for a new single. This one just doesn't fit my tastes. But unfortunately I think it'll be around for a while...top 15 for sure and possibly top 10 if the chart works in her favor. The song is only 12 weeks old, and with it's slow and steady run, I think it could easily have a 20-25 week chart run... I like Miranda, just not this song. This doesn't appear it'll be a mega-hit, but still a decent hit. She's moved up some rungs on the ladder of major artists, and with "Revolution" having great sales and reviews, I'd expect another single (at least) from the album after "Only Prettier" peaks.

This is my favorite single so far to come out of Revolution... Likewise, and it may be my favorite single of 2010. Loving it.

-33 bullet today. Is this done? It's really hard to say, it seems like every week singles alternate. One week a single's doing really well and then the next week its not. Reba had a -48 bullet but managed to pick up some pace. Even though i dont like the song at all, it would be nice to see if miranda could make it 3 consecutive top 10s, i really dont think it will go to #1. And with all the lead singles out, i just dont know if it can go any further. But only time will tell, we will see by next week if it is done or not. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

I was actually thinking the other day that this song could be nearing its end. The audience gains have been slowly decreasing, and the chart ahead is too strong for Miranda to pass up a bunch of songs. It's 16 weeks old and barely in the top 20. In comparison, "The House That Built Me" jumped up to #1 in its 16th week and held the top spot for 3 more weeks. I just don't think the hook of "Only Prettier" is very good--it doesn't relate to a lot of people. The production scares me off, and the lyrics just don't fit well, in my opinion. Some people think this song could get a boost as the CMA's approach, and at first I thought so too. But last week I began to wonder if this song would fade away before then, and Miranda would perfrom a new song. Seems like the right timing. At best I could see this song hanging on and making the top 15, but even the top 10 is going to be far too challenging, I think. Tim, Toby, Lady A, Kenny will be coming soon, and I believe Trace Adkins still wants to get higher. Luke and Chris are slowly coming up, too, and I think they can still afford 25+ week climbs to their peaks within the top 10. I think Miranda's "Only Prettier" is mostly done, even if it does wind up reboudning a bit for a few more weeks. But it could just as easily start falling fast any day now if the bottom drops out.

Regardless of what this song does or doesn't do before CMA Awards, I don't think Miranda is singing a brand new song from a new album. Maybe another single from "Revolution" but more than likely she'll sing "House That Built Me" on the show.

I could see a performance of "The House That Builet Me", but I agree it isn't likely to be a new song from a new album. I expect at least another single from "Revolution" since it has a large number of tracks, many of which are excellent. Plus the album is loved by critics and continues to sell well, so I think there'll be at least one more single if not two.

No, i highly doubt she will sing THTBM, she will probably just sing another song from the album, maybe she will release another single from it, theres alot of songs that could be hits.

I was sure this would fly to the top. If it's peaked, then that's just too bad I guess. ![:-x](http://images.proboards.com/lipsrsealed.gif) . She's not performing a new song, she hasn't even started work on the new album yet (though she may have written some new songs here and there). THTBM is over, I'd rather see her perform 'Only Prettier' in an awards show setting than her previous hits.

The House That Built Me" is nominated for multiple awards on that telecast, it's a HUGE reason why she has all the nominations she has. It makes all the sense in the world to play it there, it's now one of if not her signature song.

^That's all true, for sure. I just meant it was over in terms of its chart run and performing the current single would be more preferable (at least for me, anyways).

I can't see her performing THTBM. She performed that on the ACM's, so I'd think she would want to do something different for the CMA's. I think OP is done also, so I'm hoping she'll perform a new single from the Revolution album.

Well you better buy some handkerchiefs from the store because i think it is dead. It will fall to #20 when tim and trace pass her, and then what? I dont see it getting any higher than that, its losing spins and audience - i know it sucks but this has flop written all over it, at least it made the top 20.

I'm still not surprised at all that this did poor compared to her other recent singles. There is nothing memorable about this song and no good hook.

I don't see any evidence that would make me say this song is dead. Here are its gains for the last 6 weeks on Billboard: 10/30: +1.108 10/23: +1.050 10/16: +1.408 10/9: +0.782 10/2: +0.938 9/25: +1.202 And after a rough start to this week, it looks like Miranda will rally for a small gain. She will not fall to #20 next week because Kenny and Josh Thompson should go recurrent, and Justin Moore might go as well. That means that even with Tim and Trace passing her, she will be at #18 or #19 next week. If you're going to analyze a song being "dead," then it's best to look at numbers from the last 5-6 weeks instead of the last 5-6 days.

You don't think that the We're just like you, only prettier bit is a good hook? Personally, I think it's fun and catchy. I thought that this song was doing much better than it has been, because I see the video and hear the song every time I have GAC or the radio turned on. I can see why the song is struggling. It isn't nearly as good as her two previous releases and the chart is crowded. I still think that this will hit the top ten, however.

I don't know that this is done yet, but I have my doubts that it'll reach the top 10. I think the best it'll do is squeak up into the top 15. I think Tim and Trace will get ahead of her this week, but she may be able to inch up a spot to #18 if 3 songs (Kenny, Josh Th, and Justin) go recurrent. But Luke Bryan and Chris Young can't be taken lightly, and I think for every song ahead of Miranda that leaves the chart, a bigger threat from behind will catch her. I think Toby and Lady A are coming soon, and Kenny's new one will be there in no time. The next wave could bring Blake and maybe Billy, new Sugarland and new ZBB...I just don't see Miranda doing any better than #13 or #14 at best...

I retract my previous statement, lol. Miranda's momentum is dying, but I'm sure that if she releases another single once the chart sorts itself out a bit, it'll do at least as well as this one. She could start working on her next album, as well, which would be make me happy. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0270.gif)

I'm just saying that I personally see this one coming up just short of the top 10. Tim will be long gone (ahead of Miranda), and Trace should pass her up too, but I don't know that he'll hold on for the top 10 either. It just looks like it could be at least a month before some of the oldest songs, or songs that'll hit #1, disappear from ahead of Miranda, and by that time I think some people from behind will come and catch her. If she keeps gaining the way she has been, she'll continue to inch her way up the charts. As rowdawg21 points out, her gains haven't been bad. This week has certainly been a slower one, but she hasn't been exactly dying off just yet, either. Just not nearly as fast as THTBM. Luke Bryan has been having some nice gains, and I expect Chris Young to eventually contend for the top 10. Toby should easily be a top 10 if not top 5 or #1, and Lady A should be a top 5 or #1 as well. I just think that "Only Prettier" wasn't the best single choice, especially following THTBM. I wouldn've liked to see something better, as the production on this one seems cluttered and loud, and the hook does nothing for me.

I still maintain that this is a fantastic single (Don't quite agree with those who say otherwise). But I do think that the era should be reaching its end after the CMA awards. The 4 singles were great, but I think its time to get working on the next album! ![:giggle:](//storage.proboards.com/1258812/images/KYziZwTotWGtjvzyvGqr.gif)

I do feel that Revolution has paved way for something even bigger with her next album.

I still maintain that this is a fantastic single (Don't quite agree with those who say otherwise). I agree. This still sounds like a big hit to me. I have to admit that I'm pretty surprised that this song isn't up there competing for #1 with the other superstar singles. I do think that the song still has some more potential to grow, as some others have pointed out. I wouldn't rule out the top 10 yet, but then I wouldn't bank on it either. I'm hoping for at least one more single from Revolution. I really don't care which one gets released, because the album is stellar, but I think the era has some life left in it.

I'm really not at all surprised with it coming to a halt, the production in it just bugs the hell out of me and isn't a song that is very relatable to many people.
I hope she releases "Heart Like Mine" to close out the era, that's my favorite from the album :)

I think that, with the amount of tracks, high sales numbers, and critical acclaim for "Revolution", we may still get a 5th single. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 5th single or a lead single tho, it could go either way.
As for my dislike for "Only Prettier", I don't really know how to explain it. The first time I heard "The House That Built Me", I loved it. I'd never been a Miranda fan at all, but that song really spoke to me. Then I heard "Only Prettier", and it felt like her previous songs. Loud and kind of annoying, actually. But that's just my opinion. To me, this is the worst single she's put out. I really don't get all the love for the lyrics--I don't see much cleverness in them at all. They don't seem to fit the song, and it seems like the writers were trying to do too much. I don't know--THTBM sounded like a big hit (quietly suprising people), and this one just sounded...not good. Not the song to follow it up. I'm not at all surprised that this one is struggling. Seems to me that a lot of Miranda fans are surprised, where as people who aren't necessarily die-hard fans aren't as surprised.

Im not surprised this is struggling either, i dont like the song and think it was a terrible single choice. People think it will make it to the top 10, which i really dont see it doing. I also dont know why "The House That Built Me" was so popular, miranda sounds amazing on it but i found it very boring. The song that made me a fan of miranda was white liar. And the album has already gone platinum, so i dont know if they will release another single from it, even though there are alot of good songs on the album that could be hits.
