Come Around Sundown comes out October 19th. No news on the first single yet, but you know that's coming soon. Discuss.

I guess we'll never hear any song from the album, news just came in that they have cancelled the release of this album because a pigeon shat on the lead singer on the way to the studio.

^ Quite shocking news. There's still Cage the Elephant's new album to look forward to, though.

Those jokes are especially funny to me because, while I wasn't at the show, it happened at a venue I've been going to at least once each summer for the past 13 years. While I'm not saying KOL didn't get pelted a few times, all I know is I didn't notice one pigeon up there three nights earlier at the Mayhem festival. :)

I really liked their last album until they became pretentious and Use Somebody started getting played on AC.
I'm expecting a very radio-friendly album, of course, they weren't really aiming for that!

From the title, it sounds like the song is autobiographical, eh?

Sounds pretty cool from the live versions I've heard, I'm not going to give final judgement til I've heard it a few times in studio format....but I'm going to go WAY out an a limb and say this finds the top of the alternative board just on sheer name value alone plus the fact that IMO the top of the alt board is pretty weak. Most of the songs on their will not go down in history as fantastic songs and that includes the Catylyst, which I expect will get more recognition in the future for being a song that LP went out on a ledge to attempt.

I'm having a brain fart now onto how to post the YouTube video and that's pretty pathetic of me as a web designer, but here's a link to their official site that is now streaming it. radioactive.kingsofleon.com/Seems pretty mediocre to me as I think of them overall as a band. I'm really hoping this doesn't score a #1 and still stay in the Top 10 over two years later on most station's playlists, such as my local one is STILL doing to "Use Somebody."

I'm not a huge KOL fan either and didn't really like any of the singles off Only By The Night, but I like this better than all four of those singles, and like it close to "Closer" and "Manhattan" which I did admire once I'd been persuaded against my will to take a listen.

I thought "Sex On Fire" was decent, but it really grew on me. I still thought it was one of the most overrated songs I've ever heard, but then "Use Somebody" came along, which I didn't like much at first, but also grew on me a bit. Now, I just can't stand hearing it almost every day on my 35 drive home from work. "Notion" I thought was actually underrated and should have achieved more success and "Crawl" was easily my favorite single, but it did basically nothing. The only other song I really liked on the last album besides the singles was "Closer" and I guess "Manhattan" was decent.

in the long run... how do you guys think this is going to fair chart wise? I mean it's a pretty decent KOL track that could have easily been on any album prior to OBTN... but it doesn't feel like it has that lasting impact that "sex on fire" or "use somebody" had. it'll get a good debut and good few month run i think. but i don't see any station playing this 8 months from now.

I don't mind this song but there's something very weak-sounding about it.

KOL continues to move my soul and my spirit. My dream is to meet the Followills and tell them how much their music means to me; how it has become the soundtrack of my life. Radioactive stokes the fire of my love for this band and the video was very touching, watching their interaction with the children. I cannot wait til this album is released.

It's kind of a "mood" CD track, similar to The Catalyst I think - Alternative will like it, Triple A prob. will, but no way this is going to pop or even HAC

I'm actually surprised by how good this is since I'd set myself up to be disappointed. I was expecting some bloated arena rock mess, but this actually moves their sound forward. I wish they'd made more of the gospel choir, but apart for that I'm impressed.

Nothing groundbreaking, but a good solid rock song.

I've gotten the impression these guys don't really want this song to do as well as the OBTN singles. Not to say at all that they're deliberately decreasing quality, I just think they hate how overplayed "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" became. Glad they aren't succumbing to the expectations and putting out a song that's legitimately good and sounds like them, but isn't necessarily what people are going to expect following especially the success of "Use Somebody."

I like this a lot. I have really high hopes for the new album, after how much I liked Only By The Night. "Notion" and "Manhattan" were my favourites from that record.
