1D :o So happy for them! Love the album! Awesome debut for Lana too. She's really built a loyal following. The new EP is flawless. I actually expected lower numbers for Christina but to still be opening less than her last biggest flop? I don't see the album having much legs either. With her performances as of late doing more harm than good and the album not having any potential hits outside of "Let There Be Love". I think country radio would ignore "Just A Fool" but even if it did become this massive country smash, I can't see it doing anything for the album sales.

I wonder if Christina really stuck her hand out to M.J.B. considering how full of herself she is now post bionic, imagine back when ppl gassed her as one of the best young things in pop, yup i believe Mary cause she real and honest.

So she'll be lucky if she can even best Evancho's 41K? So much for Gold by New Year's.

I remember before Adele when Boyle was slaying all my faves with +500k sales every week for like 30 weeks straight. Poor that. Haha Simon.

Could we correct The Weeknd's name in the title?
ETA - thanks Cynthia!

TOP 15 GETS UNIDIRECTIONAL: In what will be the third-largest debut of the year (behind Taylor Swift and Mumford & Sons), One Direction will lead a Top 15 next week that could contain as many as 10 new releases. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend (not to be confused with The Weeknd):
* One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 535-560k Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 140-150k * The Weeknd (XO/Republic) 90-95k * Soundgarden (Seven Four/Republic) 80-85k Rod Stewart (Verve) 80-85k * Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (Chop Shop/Atlantic) 80-85k * Christina Aguilera (RCA) 75-80k * Lana Del Rey Paradise EP (Interscope) 70-75k Now 44 (Capitol) 65-70k * Deftones (Reprise) 60-65k * Green Day (Reprise) 60-65k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 35-40k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 35-40k * Susan Boyle (Syco/Columbia) 35-40k * Whitney Houston (RCA) 35-40k

Rod Stewart's album is holding up pretty darn nicely.

Looks like Soundgarden are doing a bit better than initial projections suggested. They look set for a Top 5 debut now. Never thought I'd see them outsell Christina Aguilera! Deftones could end up in the Top 10 as well and may even outsell Green Day! An interesting week for debuts overall.

Black Friday sales are going to play a huge role whether Rihanna or One Direction takes #1.

The less-than-spectacular showing at radio for One Direction's single (peaked at No. 50 on Hot 100 Airplay) sure hasn't deterred those fans.

What happened with their lead single? It made a pretty strong debut, then it just seemed to disappear.

Black Friday sales are going to play a huge role whether Rihanna or One Direction takes #1. I wouldn't count Taylor out. She barely dropped this week, and Rihanna is probably going to sell 200k the week of release (same as her past 3 records). If 1D drops 60%, that's around 250k, and let's be real, they're probably dropping 60% or a little more. Taylor is selling 150k this week with no Black Friday, 100k more copies with the help of the biggest day for sales of the year isn't that much of a stretch. She's also a lot more customer friendly than Riri. It's going to be a nail bitter.

I feel the problem is that "Live While We're Young" sounds way too similar to "What Makes You Beautiful", as if "One Thing" didn't already. 1D would do better if their singles didn't all sound the same.

No they actually make good music. I agree with that. I never said that their music is bad. I only pointed out that regardless of how good/bad their material is, they'd still be shifitng a lot of albums because their fans care about their looks first, music comes in second.

I can agree with that. And I definitely agree with ry4n, they drastically need different sounding singles. Which they've done with "Little Things," but that's a bad choice for other reasons. Smh at their team.

How long 'til OneD is replaced by another teen sensation? That's thy question.

girl bye with that Rihanna prediction, she's going to debut with 180-210k and get blocked from #1 just like it has been for the past 4 years.

It opened well but fizzled quickly on pop radio. :( It's already freefalling there. So the radio just didn't get behind it. In the UK, too, it debuted in the top three but then it just seemed to collapse.
