I wouldn't use that as an excuse for 1D's radio showing- look at the Max-Martin-produced/teen-pop track of the late 90s/early 2000s. Backstreet Boys/N Sync/Britney Spears had tracks that sounded aline- heck, look how well "Oops..." did at pop radio, when it was practically a Xerox of "...Baby."

I filled my share for the worldwide (I'm from Israel) chart: today I bought as a gift Lana's Born to Die: Paradise Edition, Mumford & Sons' Babel & Amy Winehouse's Back to Black :)

Whitney's prediction is a let down and somebody tweeted Hits if that included her estimated HSN sales that was rumored to be between 22-27 thousand between the 2 nights. They said yes and an estimated gain due to her Tribute Tv Special that is airing tonight.

^Her GH (and other albums) saw a big spike in the wake of her passing. There's noting really great on this release to inspire big sales in tis debut week.

Since Christina's new CD will be on sale for $5 on Black Friday at Walmart and Best Buy, do you think that'll save her career?

Bieber still hasn't been totally replaced but they've definitely overtaken him. I wouldn't be surprised if another X Factor act does it, although they'd need another smash as infectious as What Makes You Beautiful. \o/

Chances are Lotus will drop substantially in rank in its second week. And radio is not going to jump all over a second single, given how "Your Body" has nosedived in airplay- she already had her big underperforming-lead-single-smash-second-single moment.
But, even with "Dirrty"- that managed to hang around a decent amount of time, despite a not-so-great peak. Radio has flushed YB like nobody's business; it had just five weeks on Hot 100 Airplay, compared to 11 for "Dirrty." And, "Dirrty" lasted longer at pop radio (15 weeks).

If they discount Xtina's album on Black Friday, wouldn't those sales won't get accounted for through Soundscan?

The discount cut off is $3.49, iirc. So a discount to $5 would count.

^The album probably is gonna get very lost in the Black Friday/T-giving week shuffle, $5 markdown or not.

she already had her big underperforming-lead-single-smash-second-single moment. I guess it can only ever happen once per person. Like being born and losing your virginity. Unless you are born again or a liar.

The tween girls aren't going to flock to a girl group, though. You never know. But yeah, it's probably Emblem3 next year. or The Collective. I can imagine them being really popular.

I can't stand Emblem 3. Even worse than The Wanted. Emblem 3 is so annoying. They're trying to be the US' edition of 1D. come one, boys. Try harder.

One could argue that they already beat 1D in terms of fitness. US fitness, not UK fitness (i.e. hotness).

Weren't teen girls enamored with the Spice Girls? SG had the whole girl-power thing, though, that made them appealing to young girls.

One Direction, the Weeknd, 'Twilight' Albums Aiming High on Next Week's Billboard 200 Chart November 17, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles As previously reported, One Direction is a near lock for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week. The group's second album, "Take Me Home" (SYCO/Columbia), should start with between 525,000 and 575,000 sold by Nov. 19, according to industry sources. No other album will come close to selling that many copies this week, so One Direction's path to No. 1 is clear. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Nov. 21. Elsewhere on next week's chart, watch for the Weeknd's debut album "Trilogy" to launch with 90,000 or so, while the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" soundtrack may bow with 80,000. Both sets should easily start in the top 10. Also headed for a big entry is Soundgarden's first studio release in 16 years, "King Animal." The album is looking to debut with around 80,000 as well. Pop diva Christina Aguilera is poised for a top 10 return, as her new "Lotus" will likely bloom with around 75,000 copies. It's her first studio album since 2010's "Bionic" arrived in the No. 3 slot with 111,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. One of 2012's biggest new stars Lana Del Rey could also start in the top 10 with her latest effort, "Paradise." Sources indicate it's also on track to sell around 75,000. "Paradise" is available as a stand-alone album and also as part of a deluxe reissue of her first full-length set, "Born to Die." The latter album debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year, moving 77,000 in its first week. On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), One Direction is No. 1 and the Weeknd is No. 2. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking, reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. As for the rest of the Building chart's top 10: Taylor Swift's "Red" is found at No. 3, Lana Del Rey's "Paradise" is sitting pretty at No. 4 and Aguilera's "Lotus" is in the five spot. At No. 6 is the new "Twilight" soundtrack, No. 7 is Soundgarden's "King Animal" and No. 8 is Deftones' new "Koi No Yokan." Rounding out the top 10 are Green Day's new "Β‘Dos!" at No. 9 and Rod Stewart's "Merry Christmas, Baby" at No. 10. Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 NEW One Direction "Take Me Home" 2 NEW The Weeknd "Trilogy" 3 1 Taylor Swift "Red" 4 NEW Lana Del Rey "Paradise" 5 NEW Christina Aguilera "Lotus" 6 NEW Soundtrack "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" 7 NEW Soundgarden "King Animal" 8 NEW Deftones "Koi No Yokan" 9 NEW Green Day "Dos" 10 3 Rod Stewart "Merry Christmas, Baby" The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.
