Ke$ha clearly isn't a big albums draw. It's not like she's had a HUGE-selling album- her debut didn't even scan 2 million, did it?

She'll be a slow, but consistent seller. C'mon , and the future releases will determine that.

maybe they forgot a zero or something. You really think Ke$ha would sell 800,000 albums this week?

I really don't understand why her numbers aren't bigger. It just doesn't make sense to me. Her last album went platinum, and it didn't get there fast. That shows that people actually really liked the album rather than just buying it out of the gate; it was a consistent seller. They know she can make a solid album if they bought Animal. She has a massive single out right now, and the album isn't terrible. It's almost Christmas, so she should be getting more sales there (granted, not many because a lot of parents shopping for their kids probably don't want to buy their young daughters a CD from a girl that is seen as a trashy alcoholic slut, but still some). Keha hasn't done anything wrong, so I don't know why the sales are so low.

maybe they forgot a zero or something. you are too funny. :) Her sales will go up thru the holidays and with each giant single she releases ( and there will be plenty), it'll go up another 100k...so it's gonna stay around for a while.

Yeah, especially when people hear kick a$$ lyrics like
"your sweet ass mullet caught my eye, now you got me jonesing for a mustache ride".

An underwhleming start for Ke$ha for sure, but it's definitely possible that with a nice string of pop hits things can turn around. I have faith.

I don't think people consider Ke$ha to be an albums-artist anyway. I think, if the album is good (I haven't heard it) then it could be a consistent seller but 1.35 million for her debut, while pretty good, isn't huge enough to say she's reached a point where she can expect bigger out of the box sales just yet. I'd say we can wait for that to happen while she racks up singles sales in the meantime.

Wiz Khalifa's Album Set for Highest Debut on Billboard 200 Chart December 05, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield ( keith_caulfield), Los Angeles Wiz Khalifa's "O.N.I.F.C." album will be the highest debut on next week's Billboard 200 chart -- but it might not be No. 1. Industry sources are forecasting the set to sell between 135,000 to 145,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Dec. 9. That might not be enough to capture the top slot though, as Taylor Swift's "Red" and Rod Stewart's "Merry Christmas, Baby," are both challenging Khalifa for No. 1. We'll have a better idea on how Swift and Stewart are selling later this week. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 12. Most holiday albums should see big gains on the chart next week, after the market adjusts itself after the post-Thanksgiving week slump. Thus, both Stewart and Michael Buble's 2011 "Christmas" album (which returned to the top 10 this week) are due to earn large increases. "O.N.I.F.C." is Khalifa's second studio effort, and follows his "Rolling Papers" debut in early 2011. That album launched at No. 2 with 197,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan, thanks in part to the success of his No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single "Black and Yellow." The new album, however, doesn't have a hit quite that popular yet. Its current single, "Remember You" (featuring the Weeknd), rises 98-82 on the Hot 100. It follows "Work Hard, Play Hard," which hit No. 17 back in May. Other albums aiming for sizable bows next week include Ke$ha's "Warrior" and Florida Georgia Line's "Here's to the Good Times." The former is tracking to move about 80,000 while the latter should sell 50,000. That shows that people actually really liked the album rather than just buying it out of the gate; it was a consistent seller. They know she can make a solid album if they bought Animal. The fact that her last album took awhile to hit Platinum (and it's not like it scanned much past that) is all the more reason this one would be the same. It's only her second full-length release. Look how long it took Rihanna to have a pretty decent sized #1 debut, and she was having hit after hit and multiple albums scanning over a million. Also you're assuming that the 1.3M+ people who ended up buying Animal all decided it was money well spent. People could have bought it after 3 hits and decided they only liked another song or two aside from those hits. Those people aren't about to turn around and buy her new album first week.

I'm an animal since the beginning, and I know that a lot of people don't like Ke$ha, she has a lot of work to do to show that she is more than a party girl that loves glitter and that stuff. General public doesn't see her as a true artist, musician or however it's said. They don't take her seriously. And that's what she's trying to do with Warrior, to prove that she has what it takes to be a true superstar / pop star etc... ,but she has a LONG way to go... Don't expect big numbers in the first week, but also she has so many catchy songs that can keep this album selling like the songs from Animal did. This a great sophomore album and if her team handle this fine, I can see this being Platinum at least. And if you read most of the Warrior's reviews, the critics are really impressed that SHE did such a great album, it's a good start in my opinion

Well, people were also disappointed when Katy Perry's Teenage Dream opened with less than 200k and it could be a consistent seller, reaching 2xplatinum with hits after hits I think Kesha has potential to do it. But 80k are definitely too low for her, because she's having one of the hottest singles of the year, almost Xmas and her debut album opened higher. Probably her 1 year hiatus (after Blow was released) hurts her a bit.

Ke$ha's numbers did not surprise me at all haha. She is more of a singles artist and Die Young has blown up at the gate but I think her shtick is getting old. People are seeing that now, resulting in these piss-poor numbers. But at least it's a top 10 debut :)

Kesha is not a holiday seller, she'll depend on how well the singles are doing later on (no matter the quality of the album). People are buying safe albums for Christmas.
And is 80k really much worse than 130k for example? The difference is not that big.
130k 50k 30k 30k =240k
80k 65k 45k 35k =225k

I don't think Ke$ha's new album is nearly as strong as Perry's Teenage, not even as good as her own debut album. Part of the reasons might be her quirky, rebellious charm starts to wear off, for me at least.

Not Deftones I suppose. An album that 1) is promoted well in a shop, 2) can be given as a gift without fearing being a bad person (TS, a holiday album)

YOUR TOP 15: Taylor Swift is no stranger to the #1 chart position, and she'll be returning to that familiar perch next week, with Wiz Khalifa and the holiday-suave Rod Stewart duking it out for #2. Here's how things look as the weekend beckons:
Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 155-165k * Wiz Khalifa (Atlantic) 135-45k Rod Stewart (Verve) 135-145k Michael Buble (Reprise) 100-110k One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 95-105k * Ke$ha (Kemosabe/RCA) 85-90k Blake Shelton (Warner Bros. Nashville) 75-80k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville) 70-75k Alicia Keys (RCA) 70-75k Phillip Phillips (19/Interscope) 65-70k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 60-65k Now 44 (Capitol) 55-60k * Florida Georgia Line (Big Machine/Republic) 50-55k Scotty McCreery (Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope) 50-55k Kid Rock (Atlantic) 40-45k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 40-45k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 40-45k
* Debuts
There sure are a lot of records in the Top 15 next week. Now if you'll excuse us, there's a gallon of eggnog with our name on it. (12/6p)

^ She's performing on X Factor tonight so maybe that could help her trend higher. I'd love for her to break 100K. Taylor's label should discount "Red". I can easily see it doing 400K-500K Christmas week if they do.

I wish RCA would react and discount Warrior to $5.99 on iTunes and Amazon. I guess it's ALL about the money for them. The best thing about Capitol is that they really seem to put an emphasis on chart positions and records.

Having the number 1 album of the week would be a nice birthday present for Taylor!
