You must be some type of huge at40 fanatic, cuz everything about your chart resembles that from what I've seen (I used to be, but then I started tracking Mediabase's full charts, then I no longer payed attention cuz the Mediabase charts are much more updated). LOL, I do love me some countdowns. :) In any case, listing these from 40 down to 1 gives y'all more incentive to check out the rest of the chart. ;)

Interesting to see "Haunted" on the chart. Hope it does well.
Rooting for 1D and my girls as always. Coldplay needs to move up faster.

Well, Kacey losing her bullet last week was definitely a sign that that could be her last week on top. This week, that comes to pass - and then some. :o :'( So, who's the new champ? Justin Timberlake? One Direction? Kylie Minogue? Or someone else's song leaving them all in the dust? There's only one way to find out... ;) Lahey's Lucky Star, josh: The headline question. :) @jf816: Christina Perri up three. surfy: "Rather Be" ties for the week's Biggest Move. hitseeker.: Anastacia doesn't zoom to the top but she does make a big Top 10 move. @drag27: Neither does Gaga, but she does go up three. @spiritanimal: DK up another four. Zeebz: Lana up two. Juan Carlos: "A Sky Full of Stars" breaks Top 30. Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: July 12, 2014 TW | LW | WOC | Artist | Title | Peak | 40 | -- | 1 | Neon Trees | I Love You (But I Hate Your Friends) | 40 | 39 | -- | 1 | Duke Dumont featuring Jax Jones | I Got U | 39 | 38 | 28 | 14 | Katy B | Crying For No Reason | 21 | 37 | 39 | 2 | Beyonce | Haunted | 37 | 36 | 37 | 3 | Jillette Johnson | Torpedo | 36 | 35 | 38 | 2 | Christina Perri | Burning Gold | 35 | 34 | 36 | 3 | Sia | Chandelier | 34 | 33 | 34 | 3 | Robert Glasper featuring Emeli Sande | Somebody Else | 33 | 32 | 35 | 4 | Ed Sheeran | Don't | 32 | 31 | 24 | 23 | SoMo | Ride | 1 (2) | 30 | 33 | 4 | Coldplay | A Sky Full of Stars | 30 | 29 | 32 | 6 | Mariah Carey featuring Wale | You Don't Know What to Do | 29 | 28 | 30 | 8 | Lana Del Rey | West Coast | 28 | 27 | 27 | 8 | O.A.R. | Peace | 27 | 26 | 19 | 17 | Ciara featuring Future | Anytime | 15 | 25 | 14 | 21 | John Newman | Losing Sleep | 5 | 24 | 16 | 24 | Darling Parade | Crash & Burn | 1 (2) | 23 | 29 | 5 | Glenn Morrison featuring Islove | Goodbye | 23 | 22 | 26 | 6 | Danity Kane featuring Tyga | Lemonade | 22 | 21 | 25 | 8 | Tegan & Sara | I'm Not Your Hero | 21 | 20 | 22 | 9 | Michael Jackson | Love Never Felt So Good | 20 | 19 | 23 | 6 | Seether | Words As Weapons | 19 | 18 | 21 | 9 | Nico & Vinz | Am I Wrong | 18 | 17 | 18 | 9 | Route 94 featuring Jess Glynne | My Love | 17 | 16 | 17 | 9 | Sarah McLachlan | In Your Shoes | 16 | 15 | 15 | 11 | Cher Lloyd | Sirens | 15 | 14 | 20 | 9 | Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne | Rather Be | 14 | 13 | 13 | 11 | Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX | Fancy | 13 | 12 | 12 | 15 | Jetta | Feels Like Coming Home | 12 | 11 | 11 | 16 | Coldplay | Midnight | 11 | 10 | 1 | 24 | Kacey Musgraves | Follow Your Arrow | 1 (4) | 9 | 10 | 13 | Sara Evans | Slow Me Down | 9 | 8 | 7 | 19 | DJ Cassidy featuring Robin Thicke & Jessie J | Calling All Hearts | 7 | 7 | 8 | 16 | John Martin | Anywhere For You | 7 | 6 | 2 | 18 | Justin Timberlake | Not a Bad Thing | 2 | 5 | 4 | 22 | Kylie Minogue | Into the Blue | 4 | 4 | 9 | 12 | Anastacia | Stupid Little Things | 4 | 3 | 6 | 16 | Lady Gaga | G.U.Y. | 3 | 2 | 5 | 16 | Berlin | Animal | 2 | 1 | 3 | 17 | One Direction | You and I | 1 (1) |
DROPPERS:Neon Trees - Sleeping With a Friend (from 40) Rudimental featuring Emeli Sande - Free (from 31) DEBUT CORNER:"I Love You (But I Hate Your Friends)": Yes, I'm going with an album track as a follow-up charter. I don't much care for their actual second single "Text Me in the Morning", though I'm very much into this one and definitely see another big hit for them here with it. Maybe not quite as big as "Sleeping With a Friend", but still big nonetheless. Really dig the lyrics to this one. "I Got U": Not quite as into this one as I was "Need U (100%)", but I do still like the energy in this one. I could see it stumbling when summer ends, but I won't really be able to tell until we get to that point. Kacey has the unfortunate distinction of setting a new chart record with her fall from grace this week, plummeting all the way to #10. :( Much as that hurts, though, she's already looking at a really high placement when it's time to review the year's biggest hits, and she's in her 24th week in the survey this week. That matches the big 7-week #1 "Sleeping With a Friend", which departs this week. Also in its 24th week this week, one that both will have to contend with, is "Crash & Burn". That oddly enough drops to #24 this week, and looks to only have a couple of weeks left in it at best. Meanwhile, One Direction secure their second #1 song on my chart with "You and I". It was about this time two years ago that the first, "What Makes You Beautiful", fell from that perch. But it appears that they might not have long to celebrate, as they find themselves facing down three big contenders for that top spot in the forms of Berlin, Lady Gaga, and Anastacia. This week sees three other Top 10 turnarounds - after three weeks at #2, JT drops to #6. Kylie appears to finally have run out of steam as she slips a notch to #5, though at her own 22 weeks, she's already done pretty well for herself as well. And DJ Cassidy appears to have hit a wall with his #7 peak the past two weeks; he drops one to #8. Clean Bandit's six-notch surge suggests it could be a future top contender in the weeks to come. Could the three who all hold this week right in front of them be the next ones to get flown by? It's definitely looking now like "Rather Be" will be the Jess Glynne feature to have a bigger peak. Glenn Morrison ties that six-notch jump this week, but he'll have a tougher go of it in the short term since his own jump puts him to the bottom of a big stack of bullets, and quite a few of those will not be pushovers. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. Until next week... :) -Mike

DROPPER:Katy B - Crying For No Reason (from 38) DEBUT CORNER:"F For You": Love the collaboration here. This actually seems to have a bit more of an "in the club" vibe than "Latch" did. Duke's "Need U (100%)" had that same vibe as well. It's tough to predict how this will fare, because the chart as a whole just keeps getting tougher and tougher. One Direction score their second week at #1, but with Berlin, Lady Gaga, and Anastacia not going anywhere, how much longer can they stay up there? Sara Evans joins the fray with a leap from 9 to 5 as well. Jetta scores an impressive Top 10 move as well, leaping in from 12 to 7, one notch shy of the week's biggest. That honor goes to "A Sky Full of Stars", up six to 24. Coldplay manage to score two accolades in one week, as "Midnight" also reaches the Top 10. Get a load of those difficult 20s. Every song in that area is bulleted, with 23-19 all holding from the week before. Something's going to have to give there, and soon. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. Until next week... :) -Mike

Love your chart this week. My favorites are "Midnight" which goes top 10, "West Coast" which inches up 2, "A Sky Full Of Stars" which moves up 6, "Lemonade" which stays stationary, "Sirens" which moves up 1 & of course "Slow Me Down" which hits top 5 this week!

• Good to see "Anywhere for You", "Into the Blue" and "Midnight" in the Top 10. • Go "Rather Be", "My Love", "A Sky Full of Stars", "West Coast", "Don't" and "I Got You". • Perfect debut from Disclosure to be honest. I prefer the original version, but the new one with Mary J. Blige is also good.

Totally copying Danny's method of picture-esque charts, because I'm a couple weeks behind and I really don't feel like going through and coding everything. And because - SURPRISE! It's actually much faster to do it this way. For that reason, I might stick with this more often. We'll see. For now though...I owe you guys two weeks worth of charts. And an answer to the question of is Berlin sticking it out at #1 or not? Headings will be missing for the two missing weeks - but whatever, I'm not going back to fix those now. Just need to remember to include them starting with the next chart and forward... Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: August 2, 2014 DROPPER:Darling Parade - Crash & Burn (from 40) Yes, red signifies the Biggest Mover, blue the Biggest Dropper. Distinction may or may not be missing on weeks where there's a tie for either one. Anyways, pretty much a normal chart week. Things got a little wonky the following week... Oh, and anyone notice how ladies are singing every one of the Top 5 this week?

Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: August 9, 2014 Yup, no debuts. And a fair bit of slow-down. Guess what I hadn't been doing much of during my off weeks? Quite honestly, just about everything that I'd been listening to that hadn't yet made my chart is now sounding stale, which has left me back at the drawing board and needing new music to listen to. Next chart should remedy that. :) Couple other things to note, about mid-chart: MJ was looking like he'd peaked at the beginning of the month, thus why he lost his bullet in his 4th week at #20. But you know...I'm not really ready to let go of it just yet, as evidenced by not only him regaining his bullet, but also moving up three notches to #17. The other, is the very next spot. Yeah...I'm not quite so out of the loop that I haven't heard about Danity Kane's recent split. Tegan & Sara pretty much lucked into their Biggest Move honor...but whatever. "I'm Not Your Hero" is worthy. :)

LOTS of action this week! Including: The first song to jump double-digits in the chart's Top 40 era. A new record for highest Top 40 dropper - though given the circumstances, it perhaps shouldn't be a surprise. After no debuts for the previous week, five songs blast into this week's chart. And after Lady Gaga hit #1 in last week's chart, can she hold onto it this week? @jf816 Lahey's Lucky Star @drag27 Zeebz hitseeker. surfy Juan Carlos josh @spiritanimal Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: August 16, 2014 DROPPERS:Lana Del Rey - West Coast (from 40) DJ Cassidy featuring Robin Thicke & Jessie J - Calling All Hearts (from 39) Kacey Musgraves - Follow Your Arrow (from 38) O.A.R. - Peace (from 35) Danity Kane featuring Tyga - Lemonade (from 16) After a week on top, Lady Gaga is the girl underneath once again, this time yielding to Anastacia, who wasn't going to be put off any longer as "Stupid Little Things" cruises into that top spot. And yes, "Lemonade" drops right out from #16 this week - knowing that the girls have split once again, and how they split...sorry, but I can't really keep listening to a song from such a failed project. Speaking of which though, once again the ladies have a lock on the chart's upper tier, though that could be soon to end, as here come Nico & Vinz and Seether. Looks like Michael Jackson's resurgence was no fluke - though "Goodbye" flies right by it, "Love Never Felt So Good" continues going up. Meanwhile, he has one of this week's five debuts with "A Place With No Name" cruising in at #36. Speaking of which, though Kacey dropped out with one song this week, the three of the five debuts that featured acts who weren't chart newcomers all gave double-ups to some of their respective artists, meaning that now we have five artists doubling up this week: Lady Gaga - "Anything Goes" and "G.U.Y." Kylie Minogue - "Into the Blue" and "Beautiful" Michael Jackson - "A Place With No Name" and "Love Never Felt So Good" Coldplay - "Midnight" and "A Sky Full of Stars" Jess Glynne - "My Love" and "Rather Be" Katy's 12-point jump pretty much speaks for itself, no? ;) Let there be no doubt that "This is How We Do" is here to slay. No Biggest Dropper this week, because as you can see, that's a four-way tie. "Into the Blue" and Justin will certainly go next week, Cher Lloyd probably also will (but might hang on), while "Midnight" will probably get one more week before departing as well. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. Until next week... :) -Mike

Actually...there's one more chart story I'd like to reflect on. :) I went looking up Cyril Hahn & Rochelle Jordan to find out more about them, and was surprised to find that Cyril's from Switzerland. That had me taking a look at the rest of my chart, to which I discovered something very surprising.
This week's chart features 22 songs comprised entirely of foreign (non-U.S.) acts, with portions of two other songs having foreign acts as well. Let's break it down: (for groups, I go by the country of group formation/origin)
From Britain/England: Ella Henderson (37), Cher Lloyd (30), Coldplay (27 + 16), Disclosure (29), Duke Dumont + Jax Jones (26), Emeli Sande (vocalist on 22), Ed Sheeran (18), One Direction (17), Charli XCX (featured on 13), Route 94 + Clean Bandit + Jess Glynne (11 + 5), Jetta (8)
From Canada: Rochelle Jordan (vocalist on 35), Glenn Morrison + Islove (12), Tegan & Sara (10), Sarah McLachlan (9)
From Australia: Kylie Minogue (39 + 38), Sia (25), Iggy Azalea (13)
From Spain: Enrique Iglesias (38)
From Switzerland: Cyril Hahn (35)
From Sweden: John Martin (15)
From South Africa: Seether (7)
From Norway: Nico & Vinz (6)
(Sidebar: All five of this week's droppers featured Americans! Featured act Jessie J is the only foreigner among them.)
Contrast that, however, with the Top 4 all being American (yes, even Berlin), and the fact that just two songs have hit #1 on my chart this year comprised entirely of foreign acts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ("This is What it Feels Like" and "You and I", with "Lay Me Down" also being a partial) Doesn't help, though, that three more - all Brits - were stopped at #2. ("Burn", "Latch", "Need U (100%)")
More than likely, both of those will change - the former pretty much has to, as there is but one song by Americans in the entire #18-#5 batch, that being Michael Jackson's. Anastacia and Sara Evans will be squaring off over #1 for the next couple of weeks, but after that, #1 will certainly be shifting elsewhere for a while. Katy Perry will almost certainly be a future contender, but even with a fast rise, it'll probably be a while before she can look at ascending the throne.

Well! Seems most of my weekly audience has apparently given up on me. :( No matter - the show must go on! And indeed, this week brings us two more Top 40 returns, one having been away much longer than the other. And does Anastacia maintain a grip on that top spot? Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: August 23, 2014 DROPPERS:Kylie Minogue - Into the Blue (from 39) Justin Timberlake - Not a Bad Thing (from 34) Cher Lloyd - Sirens (from 30) Anastacia scores a second week at the summit, while the female-opoly of the chart's upper tier comes to an end this week, as Seether cruise up to #5. This week's Top 5 definitely takes the form of past, present, and potentially future #1 songs, as Sara, Clean Bandit, and Seether will all be contending. For Seether, this is a golden opportunity to finally secure what was once denied to them, as "Broken" (featuring Amy Lee) was held to four weeks at #2 back in 2004, kept back by a 10-week reign from Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway". Taylor comes in at #39. I'm not sure how she'll fare, as while "Shake it Off" is good, I'm not completely bowled over by it. Maybe that's why Nickelback manage to come in higher, at #37. Chad Kroeger was in the Top 40 a few months back with Avril Lavigne on "Let Me Go", but for the band as a whole, it's their first appearance in my chart's Top 40 era. Same story with Tritonal + Jonathan Mendelsohn, coming in at #40 with "Satellite". This one I could see having decent longevity. Tegan & Sara match the peak of "Closer" with "I'm Not Your Hero" moving up to #8 this week, and they're not done chugging along with this one yet... After rocketing up 12 last week, Katy enters much tougher territory, only up 5 this week. Still, that ties the week's biggest upward move, shared by a not-so-surprising pair of Cyril Hahn/Rochelle Jordan and Michael Jackson. The latter two, I anticipate will be battling it out neck-and-neck going up the chart. Kacey Musgraves is also picking up steam after a slow start; "Keep it to Yourself" is up four this week and looks poised for more next week. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. Until next week... :) -Mike

Hey! Sorry I haven't commented in a while, I've been pretty busy. So now you have at least one audience member. I hope "Slow Me Down" can hit number one. I also like the debut of "Shake It Off". Great chart Mike!
