I. The Draft
Anyone who wants to participate will get a "label." E.g. Krhazy Records.
We will then have a "draft," during which each poster can sign artists. Posters will pick one at a time, in an order randomly determined by me. Each round there will be a new order. Rounds will continue until each participant has 10 artists (or no poster wishes to add additional artists). Any artist can be signed.
II. Scoring
The winner will be determined at the end of the term by adding up the number of points each poster's roster has received. Points will be awarded as follows:
A. Billboard Charts. 1 point for every album/single released during the term that appears on a Billboard chart, PLUS...
All US Billboard charts qualify, including genre charts, digital download charts, and airplay charts.
A featured artist will get full credit for the song's performance if their name is included in the title of the song or in the artist "by line."
B. Year-End Critic Charts. 1 point for every album/single that appears on a professional critic's year-end chart, PLUS...
C. Awards/Nominations. 5 points for every Grammy, Billboard, VMA, or AMA nomination the artist gets for his/her music, PLUS...
D. Album Sales. 5 points if an album released during the term sells 500,000 copies, PLUS...
A formal US certification shall be conclusive proof that the album has sold the required number of copies. If an album does not hold such a certification but there is sufficient proof that Krhazy in his discretion is satisfied that the album has actually sold the required number of copies, points will be awarded regardless.
International album sales will count, but not international certifications. In other words, an artist who sells one million copies in Timbuktu will be awarded 10 points, even though the album might be certified 20x platinum in Timbuktu.
E. Metacritic Score. A number of points equivalent to 1/10th of the artist's score on Metacritic for an album released during the year, rounded to the nearest whole number (e.g. if the Metacritic album score is 74, artist will get 7 points. If score is 75, artist will get 8 points).
This score is to be determined as of the day point totals are submitted to Krhazy.
F. Challenges. I will announce label "challenges" periodically throughout the year. The winners of these challenges will be awarded points in the manner described in the instructions for each challenge.
G. Limitations. NO POINTS will be awarded for singles/albums that were released before the start of the game except that awards/nominations/year-end rankings announced during the term for singles/albums released before the start of the game will be counted.
For purposes of this game, "released" shall mean the SOONER of either (i) the adds date, or (ii) the day the single is released to iTunes or otherwise made available to purchase.
G. Example:
III. Dropping/Adding Artists
A. Dropping Artists. At any point during the game, a poster may drop an artist from his/her roster. When this occurs, the poster will lose any and all points the dropped artist may have acquired during the term.
B. Signing Artists After the Draft. At any point during the game, a poster may sign a then-unsigned artist to his/her roster (except that a poster may never have signed more than 10 artists at any given time). The poster will only be awarded points for albums/singles released (or nominations/awards announced) after the artist was signed. He will not get any points for albums/singles released after the start of the term, but before he signed the artist.
C. Notifying Others of Sign/Drop. Dropping or adding an artist does not need to be approved by me, and is effective as soon as you post in this thread what you are doing.
For the convenience of Krhazy and other participants, when signing or dropping an artist, a poster should post, in bold letters on a line of it's own, SIGNED: ____ or DROPPED: ____.
IV. Start of the Game
This game will start as soon as the Draft is completed. Round One of the Draft has been set for Fri. March 15th, 2013 at 7 AM EST.
V. Joining After the Start of the Game
A poster may join the game late, but he may only choose artists not already signed by other participants, and he will only be awarded points for albums/singles released (or nominations/awards announced) after his artists were signed.
VI. Responsibilities
Posters are responsible for keeping track of their own points throughout the term. At the end of the term, posters are responsible for submitting an itemized list of points they are claiming, to be double-checked by me. No points will be awarded if I ask for evidence to support a claim and you are unable to offer any, or if for whatever reason I decide that the evidence is not sufficient.
I will be the judge and moderator of the game. I will not participate and will remain impartial throughout. However, I will have discretion as to certain things, like deciding whether a year-end list is eligible to be counted, or whether there is sufficient evidence that an album has sold the alleged number of copies. As this is a new game, I reserve the right to change, alter, or add rules as the game progresses to keep the game fun and fair for everyone.

G. Example:
Brityonciah is signed to Krhazy Records. During the term of the game, she... Sold 150,000 copies of an album released before the term (0 points awarded) Released a new album that was certified platinum during the term and peaked at #2 on the Billboard Top 200. (10 + 7 = 17 points) Released two singles that peaked at #7 and #65 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. (1 + 5 = 6 points) Was nominated for two Grammys for her previous album and won both awards (20 points) Made #2 and #18 on the Rolling Stone's year end list for best albums of the year, for her two albums. (7 + 4 = 11 points) Thus, the amazing Brityonciah would have earned her label owner 54 points. |
