New country single. She performed it on the CMT Awards and Taste of Country confirmed it as the new single.

Thank you! Looks like NashVegas was onto something afterall This should easily take Taylor to #1 on the Country airplay charts! Its by far my favorite song on the "Red" album! Can't wait to see it go for adds supposedly in July!

I really don't see this as much more of a country song than "We are never ever" was, so I personally can't imagine it will do that much better.
Maybe I'm just bitter because "All Too Well" was the only deserving choice in my book. It will be a HUGE travesty if it never gets released. Plus I've never been a big fan of this song.

It's certainly not traditional country in any sense, but I also don't think it's any less country than anything she released from "Speak Now" except for "Mean." I'll be surprised if it doesn't at least go top 10. I think it's a good choice for the summer. Ignoring WANEGBT, I'd like to see... 01. Begin Again 02. Red 03. All Too Well 04. Come Back... Be Here or Stay Stay Stay I also really want Treacherous released but I don't know if she'll have enough time to release another single if they want to keep up her 2-year album cycle.

Perfect single choice for the summer. "All too Well" after this and I will be a very satisfied fan.

This was an obvious single choice. When does this go for adds? Minus the reverb at the end of each chorus, this sounds like a usual country-pop/ pop-country Taylor release. Not sure about number 1 because of Taylor's not-so-good relationship with country radios at the moment, but Taylor is a big enough name to make this a hit.

Great choice, especially if they're doing it as a dual format release. Follow it up with "Stay, Stay, Stay", close the album with "All Too Well", and I'm happy.

LOL at "not so good relationship with country radio", she has the #1 song on country radio with the highest radio audience in over 8 years. This should easily be another Top 5 hit for her. I think it hitting #1 will come down to the timing but judging from the reception she got tonight I think she'll be fine.

And it's nice to see Taylor pick up an instrument for an awards show performance. I think she's better with an instrument than she is with choreography. Also, her voice sounded great tonight!

The obvious choice! This needed to happen. I love this song and it has strong lyrics but so different from Taylor's other really strong lyrics. If she follows this up with "All Too Well", this will be the most wonderful era. She can do whatever she wants after that.

The best choice. I was beyond thrilled when I finally found out that Taylor was singing this on the show. It is personally my favorite song of the album and it also meant one thing - a single release!
I can see this crossing over to Pop (if her team pushes this over there as well) and then it'll be a big hit for her altogether.
And did anyone notice how the audience was singing along to the song during the performance? I was shocked to see how well-known this song already was to a Country audience!

Was hoping this wouldn't happen. This has been one of my least favorite tracks on the album, and it is one of my least favorite singles from her ever. I just don't see anything great about this song, especially the lyrics that many on Pulse seem to rave about.
Regardless, I'm sure this will go at least Top 5.
I REALLY hope she's not going to leave "All Too Well" a hidden gem forever.

Not sure why people think "Red" will be the last single - especially for Country radio. I expect they are going to mine the album through fall and winter. There's too much good stuff left.

Anyway I like this song and think its another career single, but I agree that the 're-eh-eh-ed' parts are not really suited for country radio, and I do want 'All Too Well' to see the light of day.

I don't think this is TOO pop for country radio, but it certainly sounds very pop. I think it's perfect for a multi-format smash hit, and I'm sure it will reach #1 on the HCS chart. There might be a few stations that don't jump on board this without hesitation, but I still think it will be a top 10 smash hit. Very glad to see this being released, although I really wish they would release "All Too Well" or "Come Back... Be Here." Those are two of Taylor's best songs of her career.

Pretty similar to Tim McGraw's recent era, this will be the first single I'll be actively rooting for this era (country-wise, that is). Top 10 should hopefully be no problem for her.

Really glad this is the next country single. I hope they announce the add dates and if it's going to be released to pop too.

I'm sure this will crossover to pop, why is probably why they have yet to announce Taylor's next pop single, even though "22" peaked a good while ago. The label is probably planning to release "Red" to both formats at the same time (probably the same exact date), so they are waiting for "Highway Don't Care" to finish its run.

"Everything Has Changed" sounds more "country" than this track- why don't they just push that track to country? Maybe because it's not so different, stylistically, to some of her other ballads promoted to country.

If this song didn't have the "re-e-e-e-e-e-e-ed" after the choruses, nobody would be saying it is pop IMO.

I think this could crossover, if given the right push. I think it appeals just as much to country as it does to pop.

Honestly, if Taylor was singing Re-e-e-ed neck nobody would bat an eye

I'm a little bummed out because I was really hoping for All Too Well, but I've gotten every one of my favorite songs released and I actually do like Red a lot, I was just hoping All Too Well wouldn't be left in the dust. I'm hoping it's still released after. It looks like Everything Has Changed is the international single, but to be honest, with country on board for Red, and this being a semi decent Pop track, the AI could be big enough to propel the track high on the charts. I don't think it's as Pop friendly as some of you are suggesting, it's about as Pop friendly as her Speak Now tracks, which never cracked the top 10 on Pop, but that's okay, as long as country embraces it - that's all that really matters at this point. The Red era seems to have catered more to her Pop fans than her country fans so even if Pop doesn't fully embrace it, I'm hoping country will and I'll be fine with it. Plus, if this is another country hit for her, it'll only clear the path for her next single which I hope and pray will be All Too Well.

Honestly, I would have loved All Too Well as a single. But given Taylor's reputation as serial-dater, ATW will just be dismissed as another whiny song, thus preventing it to reach its full potential as a single. Red is about a break-up but it does not sound as whiny as ATW.

I don't think "All Too Well" would be interpreted as a "whiny" song at all. Taylor does not insult or complain about the boy even a bit. It is more nostalgic and more of a soft ballad reminiscing about her old lover whom she apparently still loves and misses greatly. Her whiny songs are "We Are Never...," "Mean," "Should've Said No," "Picture to Burn," etc. She has all kinds of love songs like this that aren't considered whiny at all. This seems like a classic Taylor song to me, very similar in style, production, and vocals to some of her earlier music. I think, despite its length, radio would eat up "All Too Well" as it sounds more country than her other songs on this album. I believe it screams "classic Taylor hit" more than any other track on the CD and do fully expect the label to release this after "Red."
Also, let's keep in mind that even her "whiny" songs about "dissing" an ex-lover have been huge hits at country radio and those have developed Taylor's reputation and unique style. Even if she were to release a song similar to "Mean," I'm sure it would still be a #1 hit. The reason she has been struggling for success with her latest two solo singles is because they have not sounded very country at all, and I guess that could possibly happen to "Red," but I don't really expect it. Radio has never shown any opposition to the theme of her songs before.

^ While I agree with most of what you're saying, are you actually implying that Begin Again wasn't country? That song was pure country.

^ While I agree with most of what you're saying, are you actually implying that Begin Again wasn't country? That song was pure country. To me, "Begin Again" sounded mostly like a pop song by a pop singer, laced with a bit of country instrumentation. I say this not to restart an argument about "Begin Again" (after all, country radio today has limited interest in actual country sounds) but to make the point that its musical pedigree is not beyond dispute. In any event, I think "Begin Again"'s struggle on country radio had less to do with its sound and more do with the increasingly polarizing nature of the artist who sings it. Red as an album has proven to be the tipping point for conventional wisdom about the kind of artist Taylor is, partially because its highest impact singles have all been pop format hits, partially because Taylor's televised performances have mostly been geared toward pop spectacle, and partially because of the nature of the album itself. It is only natural that country radio listener interest in Taylor would have waned as a result. Not helping her case are trends at country radio: the outbreak of backwoods-centric frat boy country-rock anthems serves an audience that probably doesn't overlap too much with the audience likely to appreciate Taylor's girlish pop musings about the ups and down of love. All things considered, and despite the success of "Highway Don't Care," I think the overall space country radio is interested in devoting to Taylor has shrunk, and I think that will impact "Red," as well. It's nothing that Big Machine won't push through as usual, of course. But I also think the song itself is weak -- the melody is a retread of past Taylor hits like "Mine," the lyrics are a mess of jumbled and not especially powerful metaphors, and the song feels more like a bland summary of Taylor's canon than a fresh addition to it. I will admit, though, that my initial thought that "Red" would need a remix to knock out the electro "Red" stutter is irrelevant after Blake Shelton inflicted "re-re-re-re-redneck" on us.
