Why do I start what I can't finish?

This is the most refreshing EDM track to break out in a long time. I wish this type of EDM was dominant in the pop scene. I guess time will tell. This just doesn't seem like a song that would smash on Radio. ..and that's the big issue. Pop radio has spent too much time pandering to all audiences with safe, predictable music, but with this, and "DIL" blowing up, this could be the most exciting year Pop has been in a long time. I'd say screw Adult top 40 and bring on the frenzy. I'm not saying that kind of music, or all of it is poor for say, I just would just like to see hotness like this get the equal amount of mainstream success. I'd say we'd have to make the Alternative format a tad bit heavier and lessen the crossovers, while retaining support for core artists, but I've ranted enough about that. 2012 was rather interesting with songs like "We Are Young", "Ho Hey" and "Somebody That I Used to Know" crossing over from Alternative to Pop, but in 2013 the crossovers were mostly pretty bad. "Demons"? "I Will Wait"? "Sweater Weather"? "Safe and Sound"?. 2014 looks good, with Arctic Monkeys, Cage the Elephant, Bastille and The 1975 getting some push to mainstream. However, to make the pop scene more interesting, we should have some Active crossovers. This will probably never happen because the current EDM-suited listener probably won't want to sit through songs by Five Finger Death Punch or All That Remains. It'll probably be too heavy for them. However, in the mid-2000s, we had some Alternative hits (which would probably be dubbed Active by today's standards) chart highly on the BB Hot 100. Songs like "Miss Murder" by AFI, "B.Y.O.B" by System of a Down, "The Hand That Feeds" by Nine Inch Nails, "Through Glass" by Stone Sour, "Uprising" by Muse, "Face Down" by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, "Hate Me" by Blue October and "Scars" by Papa Roach did decently on the Hot 100, but today, they'd be too heavy for Pop listeners. Still, there's still a softer side to Active. "Lola Montez", "By and Down" and "Romantic Dreams" are more artsy-leaning instead of your typical testosterone-fueled cock rock song.

When was the last time an instrumental song charted this high? Sorry if this has already been asked.

When was the last time an instrumental song charted this high? Sorry if this has already been asked. There were instrumental hits at CHR/Pop in the 70s, 80s and 90s too. If we're talking about (non-disco) dance music only, the earliest I can think of that was a dance instrumental is Robert Miles' "Children" (#17 CHR/Pop in July 1996). Some others that went Top 20: Love Unlimited Orchestra - "Love's Theme" (#2 CHR/Pop 1974) Walter Murphy - "A Fifth of Beethoven" (#5 CHR/Pop 1976) Meco - "Star Wars Theme" (#1 CHR/Pop 1977) Chuck Mangione - "Feels So Good" (#4 CHR/Pop 1978) John Williams - "Theme from Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (#13 CHR/Pop 1978) Herb Alpert - "Rise" (#1 CHR/Pop 1979) Chuck Mangione - "Give It All You Got" (#12 CHR/Pop 1980) Vangelis - "Chariots Of Fire" (#4 CHR/Pop 1982) Harold Faltermeyer - "Axel F" (#3 CHR/Pop 1985) Kenny G - "Songbird" (#6 CHR/Pop 1987) Kenny G - "Silhouette" (#16 CHR/Pop 1988) David A. Stewart & Candy Dulfer - "Lily Was Here" (#12 CHR/Pop 1991) Kenny G - "Forever In Love" (#9 CHR/Pop 1993) Clayton + Mullen - "Theme From Mission: Impossible" (#11 CHR/Pop 1996) I was going to include MFSB's "TSOP" which hit #3 in 1974, but that had a few background vocals (although I guess that's fairly similar to this and "Levels"). The same goes for Van McCoy's "The Hustle" (#1 in 1975). Those are the instrumental hits I can think of off the top of my head (there were definitely more). So basically, there were major instrumental hits in every decade the CHR/Pop chart existed with the exception of the prior decade. That said, it's the highest-peaking instrumental song in almost 20 years, passing "Sandstorm", "Auld Lang Syne" & "Levels".

I was aware that the 70s were the heyday for instrumental hits, but its crazy to think that there haven't been any big ones since 1996. Hopefully Animals and Turn Down For What will change that.

That LA and San Diego Power Rotation :) I feel like it's been on power rotation in LA/SD since December. It's been doing so well out here and I'm glad its finally catching on elsewhere. Deserves top 20 for sure.

They still censor "f**king" Really? I always thought that "fucking" was uncensored. Anyway, that explains why it was difficult to me hearing that word, but I always assumed it was the effect on the vocals

I mean, it's not like a normal censoring at all because you can still basically hear the word, but it's definitely been tampered with. I guess it could be just a vocal effect, not really meant to censor it. I'd rather have it be normal haha

When was the last time an instrumental song charted this high? Sorry if this has already been asked. Harlem Shake? Glad to see this song doing well, but really surprised it's having the success it is on radio. I've started to hear it quite a bit in my area recently. I wonder where it will end up peaking on the H100? My guess is right around 20, maybe a little lower.
