true. most ppl have itunes accounts and ive been thinking that this whole time. ppl are actually trying to double the sales to say she would have outsold taylor with a full week despite the hype being spread at its height on the weekend during the highest sales push. that said its major no less but i think ppl dont look at factors...kind of like on hitsdaily they see 46% sales and try to guess off that...doesnt work like that. definitely should be at 1m before the end of the year though and probably 2-3x platinum by this time next year consistent with her 2nd and 3rd album. I have iTunes/Amazon accounts, but I'm waiting to see what the physical package is like before I decide digital v physical. If the physical is an attractive enough package, I'll choose that. If nothing special, then digital all the way. Can't underestimate the number of people who will want to give (or receive) a TANGIBLE item for Xmas! true. also cant overstate by baring in mind the ppl that normally buy cds but opted to buy the itunes copy be ause it was the only available and also the ppl that claimed to gift this weekend that normally would use your approach of gifting physical copies but used the only option out now doing via itunes. even i was going to purchase the album via itunes which i only do for ppl i stan for but since it was the only way then i decided let me wait until after the 20th when im already in arizona on vacation. i know my family is gonna play it and ill decide if i continue to purchase but i almost did purchase it on itunes because it was only available there.

Um..speaking of Garth, where is he? lol. I thought he was supposed to be #1 (before Beyonce became part of the picture late last week). I highly doubt HITS is 'holding out' on us, the full numbers almost always come out on Tuesday afternoon and this week is no different. We only know Bey's total because it was iTunes only, so as soon as the sales week was over that could be announced. I wish HITS would knock it off with the incremental updates, they don't serve any purpose anymore (not sure they ever did).

So true, areyouready- some people take things way too personally, even when comments and/or criticisms are presented respectfully and dealing just with the work. There are some out there, though, who are overly negative and even mean-spirited when they post about acts, and that's unnecessary, too. (We see it outside this board all the time, too). its all relative...some ppl have real lives, bills and other priorities that make this entertainment and a forum to truly debate and discuss things they are interested in and also gain perspective of those of similar interest yet different background , culture, age, status etc. while others invest so much effort and are extremists particularly in their actions. ppl that have things going on are more responsive those that fit in the other category are more reactive as they tend to vicariously live through these artists sometimes and act as if you critiqued their special needs baby sister and crossed the line when you just need to state your point and agree to disagree.

Are we going to get anymore 200k+ this month?!?! You're acting like 200k+ is a spectacular opening. It isn't. It's just baffling that it's enough for a #1 album considering this is the holiday shopping season. This album will still register her lowest opening ever. It still remains to be seen how it will sell in the long run. LOLz

I think you missed the point here which is about minimal to no loss of purchasing fanbase, as reflected in the album sales. For reference, Britney's earliest records sold more than any of the ladies I referenced, Avril's rate of decline with each record is steepest among these three, and Carrie has seen a 30-50% decline with each record but still managed to see over a million copies with her last studio effort. Therefore, I find it extremely impressive for artists like Beyonce, Pink, or Kelly Clarkson, while in the 12-14th year of their careers, respectively, as solo artists who see little to no decline in record sales, especially in Pop music- the most fickle and ageist fanbase. Beyonce's 618k digital sales record in just 3 days is beyond mind-boggling before considering her longevity as a solo Pop artist ! I'm no beyonce expert, but hasn't she seen a decline in sales with each of her albums too? Not hating at all. That's just the industry these days. Again, YOU miss your own point. Clarkson went from 6+ mil to under 1 mil. That is a decline you can never overlook. Her album after that still never scanned a million copies and neither did the latest effort. This latest album is a holiday album which really shouldn't factor, but it's doing very well for Kelly. I guess my point is getting 'C's all throughout college isn't as impressive as starting with an A+, then A-, then B+, because ultimately you fare better than the straight C student.

Buddy you missed the point. All this poster is trying to say is Kelly, Pink, and Beyoncé have remarkable consistency. Sure Kelly did fall from 6.3 to almost one million copies. However, you would have to look at the other variables why that was. It is a long reason so I will summarize, Clive sabotaging the record, a less commercial sound, Kelly feeling rundown and not wanting the fame, and only one promoted single. Since My December, Kelly has sold near platinum on All I Ever Wanted. She has sold platinum on Stronger, and soon to be Wrapped in Red (A Christmas Album). Not to mention her Greatest Hits went gold which is a pretty good feat. Wikipedia Album sales: Thankful: 2,776,000 Breakaway: 6,296,000 My December: 848,000 All I Ever Wanted: 974,000 Stronger: 1,085,000 ^Pretty consistent if you ask me. Also, when did 1+ million become a C............ Look at the charts over a million these days is a B or B+. You sell over 2+ million if you are Adele, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons. What is with this arbitrary letter ranking in the first place? It is to hard to compare sales from 7 years ago till now. You know how many factors have came to play during these last few years. Now we have ITunes singles, Spotify, illegal downloads, streaming on Pandora, Youtube to Mp3 downloader, and Youtube that deters people from even buying albums.

If just somebody brought up Mariah and her 90s success, then we'd have it all here I think.

Week 2 for Beyonce should be less than 617K simply because the initial buzz is gradually wearing off and by Friday it will hit stores and become widely available

If it weren't for that pesky Charlie Brown Christmas, would it be the highest-ranked older holiday title? (We have to wait for Billboard 200 results, though- last week, there was a three-spot difference in the rankings)

Wait I thought Taylor Swift was the only female ever to have any sort of obscure record ;) Obscure? I've been hearing about that record ever since the Eagles denied Brit Brit of it back in 07'. Get with it. Since it has only been about 8 hours or so, the only ones that will know about it are people here and others who continuously monitor iTunes/music news Otherwise this should be a slow seller and not get anywhere near #1Thanks for coming though. XO

The first comment was a joke.
The comment from last week you quoted, congrats - I got it wrong. I did not correctly guess that it would shatter records.
The first 3 days of this album was unlike anything that came before it.
