She single handedly made the album and video relevant again. OMG this is such overstatement. For one, the video has been relevant again for awhile. Gaga deserves most of the credit for that. Even this year we've seen videos send songs like "Wrecking all" to new heights. As for making the album relevant again, that remains to be seen. There is no way way to know yet if this will have an affect on other artists and/or on the business in general. Plus, Adele had the album relevant as recently as last year with 21. beyonce has done something unique/great, but keep it to the facts. Her stans overstating things makes people resist giving her credit for the real things. please tell me this whole post is a joke. gaga deserves most of the credit? who?! gaga is completely over, her gimmick is done and her fanbase decimated. and there was nothing she did that made the video relevant outside of bad romance... no one gives two giant craps about her other five hour long turds of videos. pressed that beysus obliterated her career in three days? and adele is a fluke artist that comes around every few years. beysus is here to stay. bye

Might as well take away all of the credit previously given to Michael Jackson and what he did for music videos (among everything else). I agree that Gaga deserves a lot of credit for reigniting a lot of interest in the music video. I don't think she's solely responsible but I think the 1-2-3 punch of Paparazzi, Bad Romance and Telephone made the music video into a huge marketing angle. I don't remember them being anticipated before their release until Gaga made it such a big deal at the height of her popularity. After that, it seemed like everyone hyped their videos up and now it's the regular thing with release dates and preview clips and trailers.

She's not even close to a legend. Maybe in time, but in no way, shape, or form is she one right now. Kelly and Carrie have just the same chance of becoming legends. now this one i know for sure is a joke. kelly who? carry what? they are both beyond irrelevant outside fan messageboards and have long since left their career peaks behind them. beysus's career is longer than both of theirs put together and she's still slaying all your faves including these two randoms. yesterday was the final nail in their career coffins.

That's great and all except you just replied to a post that had nothing to do with Beyoncé. Spirited musical debates are fine as long as they stay within board guidelines, but please no one be looking for conflict for the sake of conflict.

The Beyonce fans are taking this way to far.
BTW, as of today, Carrie Underwood has sold more albums than Beyonce.

Speaking of ww.. Beyoncé's album sold 619k in the US and 68k in the UK but under 850k worldwide. Are iTunes sales really that low elsewhere? (France, Japan, Germany those are big markets in general..)

R Kelly and his old stinking black panties sold 130k? Britney geeeeerllllll he didnt promote either although he did include 2 pair of panties with his album (true story). Before anyone chimes in and says but Coco it was the GAGA effect, don't go there , COCO don't listen to stupid. She herself, gaga that is , is climbing the ladder in reverse i hardly doubt she has the pull to convince others to buy someone else's album.

This isn't a thread about the latest sales in Russia or something. If sales numbers are posted, I think we can assume the poster meant USA

Only a 71% drop for Britney Jean? Impressive! Well when 1st week sales are already rock bottomShe didn't have the typical lots of promo week 1, no promo week 2 going against her. I think that helped.

There were interviews and such during release week (and leading up to it) for Spears' album. The "Perfume" video debuted last week.
As this is the top sales period of the year, that also could have softened the second-week drop (though 70% still is in the range of typical second-week drops).
