10 weeks in a row at #1 on the Billboard RADIOFEEDBACK Chart. Most impressive.

Looks like this might end up as the biggest single of his career so far. If they roll out "Goodbye" as a followup to this, I'll predict the third release from A.M. will perform better than the second as it will get a quicker launch. "Lonely Eyes" is the only other track that should be considered.

This is doing quite well, but I'd say that "Gettin' You Home," "Tomorrow," and "You" are all bigger than this one. This is evidently getting great callout response and it's sales are respectable, but it doesn't look like his biggest hit yet. It should set the next single up pretty well though and it should be "Lonely Eyes" or "Goodbye," that I agree with.

That one doesn't seem all that big, but more like your average #1. I'd swap that one out for "The Man I Want To Be", a 3-week #1. I don't think I've heard "You" on the radio since it peaked, whereas I still hear "Gettin' You Home" and "The Man I Want To Be" fairly often. "Who I Am With You" looks like another Gold hit and probably a #1 in a few weeks, but it'll take some time 'til it gets to the Platinum status of "Tomorrow". I think "Gettin' You Home", "The Man I Want To Be", and "Voices" are all close to Platinum as well.

I wish I heard "The Man I Want to Be" on the radio more now and I agree that with it having spent three weeks at No. 1 it was a big hit at the time. But it peaked a bit lower on the Hot 100 (those other three I mentioned all made the Top 40), and I honestly almost never hear that one, whereas I actually hear "You" quite often. It's easily one of my least-favorites of his hits, but it seems to have been and remained pretty popular from what I can tell, so that's why I thought to put that above TMIWTB. It really depends on where you live sometimes I guess, so it's interesting to hear your perspective.

I'm not declaring it his biggest hit yet. Just saying it's got a chance to be that in terms of overall impact to his career and sales. I'd still say "Tommorrow" is number one. But this one has done more to impact CD sales, especially over recent days, than any single he's ever had. We'll see where it goes over the next few weeks. I have a hunch we may look back at this record as reviving whatever lost momentum he had when "Neon" stalled out at country radio over the Summer of 2012.
Be a huge mistake they don't go with either "Goodbye" or "Lonely Eyes" next as these two are sure-fire smashes (I personally prefer "Goodbye"). Then, he should be well on his way to the next level. Going with the title track or something else will negate whatever WIAWY is doing now.

I'm with jhomes87 on The Man I Want To Be being Chris Young's biggest hit. It is his longest reigning #1 at three weeks. I hope Who I Am With You becomes his sixth chart topper. It will be his first since taking the hat off (maybe that was a curse!).

And I wish he'd bring it back, because I loved that he wore the hat. Would like to see more stars rocking the cowboy hats personally.

The first time he appeared without his hat was at the Grammy Awards, February 13, 2011. I remember the date because we went to a Grammy Event right after that in LA and it was the first time he performed without the hat.
Lonely Eyes, needs to be the next single in my opinion. Excellent play on words and his voice emotes perfectly.

I'd like to see Lonely Eyes as the next single. He's performing it in his opening slot for Dierks - I don't remember if he is performing Goodbye or not. But Lonely Eyes has really stuck with me, so I'd enjoy that as a release.

I usually burn out on albums after 3-4 weeks of playing the full album and getting familiar with the songs and making my judgement on it and usually 3 or 4 songs stick with me and "Lonely Eyes" is on my playlist of songs I regularly play. I know Chris wanted to avoid being known as the love song guy, but if you're one of the best around at it, might as well keep doing it lol.

"Lonely Eyes" is the best option for the next single imo. Anything else would be another disappointment, since that's really the best song on the entire album, which I felt was a lackluster effort. I'd be happy with that as the third and final single and then maybe they can move on to the next record and go back to what made him a great artist.

I don't get all the love for Lonely Eyes, but hey, if it's that popular, fine with me. Whatever'll get him another hit. :) It's not bad, but the chorus has a bit of a generic feel to me. I prefer Goodbye and Hold You to It.

I'd be happy with that as the third and final single and then maybe they can move on to the next record and go back to what made him a great artist. All in the eyes of the beholder. "Lackluster" is not how I would describe his last effort since song choices and production was by design. "AM" has accomplished what they intended and that was establishing songs that elevate his live shows. It's why "Aw Naw" was released as the lead single and why more guitar and rocked up sound was incorporated into this effort. At this point in his career, he wasn't looking for critical acclaim as much as driving up his fan base from his concert appearances. As we speak, "AM" is performing better than "Neon" did at this stage, his fan base is larger plus he has regained lost momentum from 2 years ago when the title track underperformed at country radio. I'm sure he would like to have continued his neo traditional country leanings on his latest project had "Neon" sold better than it did. However, since it did underperform compared to "The Man I Want to Be" he needed to adjust, which he has without compromising his great country voice. It's taken two years to get his career back to where it was after "Tomorrow's" platinum selling performance. I agree "Lonely Eyes" would do well, but I think (only my opinion) "Goodbye" works as a better follow-up to WIAWY. I do tend to think "Lonely Eyes" is where they're leaning but we'll see.

Is A.M. really doing better than Neon though? The first two singles from his previous album out-performed "Aw Naw" and "Who I Am with You," especially "Tomorrow," which became his first Platinum single. I don't have figures readily available to compare album sales between the two, but his current set doesn't appear to be selling as well as his last did, either. Maybe the songs have helped his live show and that's a good thing, but it's not really doing much else from what I can see.

A.M. is behind Neon in sales, mainly due to 20,000 less in first week sales. All I'm saying is trends have reversed with the current single which has impacted CD sales more than we've seen for him since TMIWTB. Overall sales are still behind "Neon" for now. No doubt his live shows have grown his fan base since A.M. was released last September. Bottom line here is he's in much better shape than he was two years ago when "Neon" was floundering at country radio.

He largely made the album he made this time to have more uptempo choices for his live show. THAT Was his motivation. He didn't want to be known mostly as the "Ballad Guy" in his live shows. He was thinking of the fans and their enjoyment of his live show. Still, we all know he is such a fantastic vocalist that he slays every ballad he puts out (see this song for an example) so it's hard for us to see the motivations on his side instead of perhaps some sort of corporate motivation. They may have been happy to have that tempo but it was Chris and his management teams decision for his ability to continue to tour as both headliner and as mid-tier support act.

His show is evolving and I imagine it will be sooner than later that we see him as a headliner. Everything seems to be methodically planned out. He is a smart guy and has learned from the best. He mentioned at a show recently that Lonely Eyes will be the next single. I personally hope so.

You need enough variety to your tunes to keep people entertained. He's doing that (and HAS headlined a tour already. It did quite well. "Lonely Eyes" would make a great third single from the album.

His Liquid Neon Tour was a solid start. I am banking on a Major Headlining Tour very soon.
The ballads are really what separate Chris from other male artists out there. His background of training is really quite impressive. He could easily be on Broadway. I have heard him sing Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Eric Clapton covers live, and he did a fantastic job. They haven't even tapped into his potential yet. I hope that the listening audience can fully appreciate what he has to offer in the future.

Still waiting on that one song that carries his career to major headline status. He's always had the talent and persona for that level of stardom. I'm thinking it's going to take a unique sound or a slight tweak in style meshed with the best written song he's ever come in contact with to make it happen. The song will be the difference maker, and that's still out there to be discovered.

I've seen Chris live three times now, and he's a pretty high-energy act live with lots of crowd interaction. Definitely loves singing his up-tempo, fun stuff in concert so it makes sense he would want to add more up-tempo singles to his live show.
That being said, though, when I'm in the mood for an awesome, melodic country ballad, Chris is the one I want singing it to me. Just love his voice.

Chris is one of my best friends and I co-write with him. His next single is "Lonely Eyes" written by Johnny Bulford (Woman Like You) Jason Matthews (Country Man, Must Be Doing Something Right) & Laura Veltz (Drunk Last Night) He was initially planing to release "Nothing But The Cooler Left" but his time frame is narrowing for a fourth release and I think his friendship with Johnny was the ultimate factor. I've heard from numerous sources that the song Chris & I co-wrote will be the debut single from his next album with a planned March release. Won't hold my breath because things change so rapidly here but if you hear "For The Rest Of My Life" on the radio next spring, I co-wrote it! Thank you for the insight. I am THRILLED to hear this news and yes, you are right things can change in a heartbeat. Johnny is a great guy and songwriter. It is wonderful to see how you guys all have each other's backs. Looking forward to your songs together and the new album.
