Oh oops Anyways, not sure why I asked... he's a superstar in country music, so looking back on it, it looks like a stupid question for me to ask. Oh well! Glad this will be another #1 to add to the list for him! Rule #1: Only the unasked questions are stupid. Once I See You hits #1, I will be able to move Luke Bryan from #60 to #50 on the list of those artists with the most #1s. The top 50 on that list will be exclusive to those with at least 11 chart topping hits. I am still amazed at how Luke's success has come from basically two albums. His first two albums did well, but the amount of chart success he's had with Tailgates & Tanlines and Crash My Party is just crazy.

My favorite album era from him is "Doin' My Thing", but I really enjoyed the "Talgates & Tanlines" era as well, and "Crash My Party" was okay (but the singles were underwhelming as a whole for me), and I don't really remember the debut era as much, but I'm sure if I listened to the singles again, I would like them! :)

I think "Doin' My Thing" is his best album by a long shot.

My top 5 would be: 1. Roller Coaster 2. Someone Else Calling You Baby 3. I See You 4. Drunk On You 5. Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye I think he's been pretty solid and consistent throughout his whole career. Picking a top 5 was pretty difficult for me.

^ Then should we grade all of Luke Bryan singles? All My Friends Say: A I'll Stay Me: A We Rode in Trucks: B+ Country Man: B Do I: A+ Rain Is a Good Thing: A- Somebody Else Calling You Baby: B+ Country Girl (Shake It for Me): C+ - This was not very good. I Don't Want This Night to End: A Drunk On You: B+ Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye: B+ Crash My Party: A That's My Kind of Night: A Drink a Beer: A- Play It Again: A Roller Coaster: A+ (my favorite!) I See You: B Honestly, I only fully listened to Luke's singles since the Tailgates & Tanlines era. May update this post later if I decide to change my grades. EDIT: Graded all the songs and changed my grades for some songs that I graded already. Also, I gave "I See You" another listen. Still not impressed by it. It could have been rewritten for another Taylor Swift song.

Just wanted to note that there is now a Grade the Songs thread up in the Country News & Non-Singles Discussion sub-forum for single letter evaluations of the singles of individual artists. Please feel free to take your grading pens there, so that discussion in the individual single threads can focus on the current chart run & relevant context. Thanks!

Luke sneaked by Carrie by a very tiny margin of 16 points.

Even though this is tracking at #1, I don't think it's going to hold. Here are the updates for the top 3 songs on Mediabase this morning, not including Kenny:
Eric: +10 spins, +18k audience Carrie: +70 spins, +312k audience Luke: -14 spins, +292k audience
What's particularly interesting is their total spin counts. Eric is up to 7726 spins, Carrie is at 7642, and Luke is lower with 7311. Eric also has a lead of about 1.6 million over Luke on the current Billboard chart, and I don't think Luke is going to completely erase that gap. Thus I have to think that Eric will return to #1 on the Billboard RTT sometime later this week, but Carrie might now have the inside track to #1 on Mediabase, since she's so close to Eric in total spins.
Luke can probably afford to wait a couple of weeks; "I See You" has not even been out that long.

Interesting...it says only four songs are cut for the new album and he has no timetable on its release. To me that says we may see a 7th single from this album era. If "I See You" ends its run in the next month or so, that's far too much time from now until "no timetable" to be occupied by just one single. I also doubt they'll keep new Luke music off the radio for too long.

I also doubt they'll keep new Luke music off the radio for too long. If the new tour kicks off in May and comes from a song title for his next album, I can't see them releasing something else off this project. They'll probably end up releasing a new single ("Kick Up the Dust" probably) just in time for him to perform it on the ACMs, which gives him a short break between this era and the next, and he'll probably keep recording in that time. I'm sure he has a stockpile of songs for the next record already, and that he just hasn't gone in and laid down vocals on that many of them yet, but I can't imagine that he won't finish that up pretty soon, especially with him touring most of the year starting in May. We'll probably get the next album this summer, like maybe around July. His last two records came out in August and were led off by lead singles released in March and April, but his chart climbs continue to get faster, so his latest LP might need to come out a bit earlier than his last two did.

I also doubt they'll keep new Luke music off the radio for too long. To me it says the exact opposite--that we almost certainly won't see a 7th single from Crash My Party. There's obviously not an exact date set for his next album's release yet, but you can bet that Luke and his team and the label have a pretty good guess as to when it will come out. They're simply saying "no timetable" because it's far enough off yet that they don't have the exact date for when it'll be released. Luke still has plenty of time to work on the new album. He's got 6 tour dates in mid-February according to this Taste of Country article, but that still leaves him with the rest of January, most of February, and probably all of March and April to finish recording the album before his Kick The Dust Up Tour starts in May. I agree with .indulgecountry...Luke probably has a bunch of songs picked out for the album already. He might "only" have 4 recorded right now but that's more than enough to move forward. One of the 4 songs is probably the one that Luke wants to release as the first single to his next project. It won't take Luke very long to record the rest of the songs, and he has plenty of time between now and May (he'll almost certainly want to be done recording the album before May, since he'll be out on the road almost non-stop from May 8 all the way through the end of October...that means he won't have more than a week or two off here and there, which means he'd have very little time to get into the studio). A lead single release for the ACM's followed by the album in late July/early August seems very likely.

3 1 LUKE BRYAN I See You 7803 7438 365 57.25
If this holds on until Sunday, the "Crash My Party" album will have 5 airplay #1s. Congrats.
However, this is my least favourite single of his era. I even prefer "That's My Kind of Night" to this.

Crash My Party will have five #1s and one #2 while the McGraw CD has four #1s and two #2s.

I even prefer "That's My Kind of Night" to this. Wow, worse than "That's My Kind of Night"? I thought for sure that would be the nadir for terrible country, but then "Donkey" came along. I guess that's one thing we won't have to worry about. With bro-country starting to crumble, I doubt we'll ever get anything worse than "Donkey". This one falls into the same category that a lot of LB songs do for me: there's enough of a flavor to it for me to give a thumbs-up, but it feels like it could use just a little more of something. Maybe if he ditched Jeff Stevens as a producer, because I swear the production sounds the same on about 90% of his songs. (To its credit, at least "That's My Kind of Night" sounded different. A terrible "different" is still "different"; I believe I said something similar about "Ready Set Roll"'s production.) At least Michael Carter isn't producing him, too...

"Ready Set Roll" takes offense to that statement. I still think RSR at least had a couple decent lines amid the garbage. And it doesn't make me feel dirty after listening to it, unlike Donkey.

"Ready Set Roll" is a pile of garbage that was capitalizing on the trend at radio while "Donkey (while it never should have been released) was a parody song and was not taken seriously by its writers and singer. Both are atrocious though IMO, I agree.

I actually thought RSR was okay for bro-country standards!
Anyways, this is one of my favorite singles this era, so I'm happy it's going #1!!!

Believe it or not, I DID like That's My Kind of Night. The lyrics are kind of dumb, but it's really catchy and fun to listen. Donkey is wierd though, and Chase Rice's delivery of the verses in Ready Set Roll was not very good (I liked the chorus)
