That video is brilliant. Cam seemed to know very well on how the visuals for her music should be done. That subtle shade toward Country radio is really great as well.
I love her eyes ever since I first saw it in the Burning House video, so of course I agree.

This video might just be my favorite video...ever. Honestly, it presents the story to the song in a whole new light. I love the vintage feel of this, but also the fact that Cam continues to shine in yellow. Perfect. Now, radio...get this playing, more.

Loved the concept of this video very much. I was really digging the retro feel and the subtle feminist angle was nice to see (Jennifer Lopez's latest video also pushed that angle well). The video definitely helps me like this song more, and though it's still not among my favorites on the album, it's a beautiful song and vocal and has a very 'calming,' pleasant feel to it that I enjoy. I've heard it on the radio a few times now and it sounded good, albeit a bit different from a lot of the other stuff being played, past or present.

I know y'all don't really post radio updates here, but I thought this was too good to ignore. This was at a negative bullet and fell to #37 a few days ago, but it's starting to rise back up again and is now at #34. Hopefully this is showing signs of life. This is too good to underperform this badly.

I love the video, it's brilliant and I hope the song does better in radio because I want that video nominated for awards.

She'll be performing at the CMT Awards with Fifth Harmony.
I'm not sure what they're doing, but this could potentially be a huge thing for Cam. Fifth Harmony has one of the biggest cult fanbases in all of music, so maybe it can rub off on her.

Apparently they're going to do a mash-up of Mayday and Work From Home. It should be interesting, needless to say. I'm hoping it'll help Mayday though!!! It needed to shoot up on Country radio like weeks ago.

I am really interested to see how the heck "Work From Home" is going to sound as a mashup with "Mayday". Seems like it could be a disaster. Putting Cam, of all country artists with Fifth Harmony is really puzzling.

Seems like anyone who gets a clear channel deal has sophomore jinx. Canaan Smith, Granger Smith, Michael Ray, and now her.
Only heard this song for the first time today. Great stuff, but not sure if it's what radio wants.

Great stuff, but not sure if it's what radio wants. Canaan Smith never got any Clear Channel or iHeartMedia. It just took so long to climb. I think a better example would be Raelynn. Shame, I have really grown fond of this song and I hope it's not over yet!

Just checked CountryAircheck and saw Cam slipped one spot from #35 to #36 this week. I am having trouble viewing Billboard. Anyone else? I don't want this song to be over. Hopefully, Arista will go with a third single from Untamed. I really hope she has a long lasting career. This song however, is making my stomach turn week after week in regard to chart performance?

Not much better on BB she slips back too #40 as Dierks debuts ahead of Cam (that was expected) and Brothers Osborne as well as Cole Swindell manage to pass Cam as well, it's definitely concerning all things considered as Cam was pretty dang close to losing her bullet on BB which means she would have been eligible for recurrency, it sucks that a risk like this probably won't pay off as this song is so lovely. For me the third single for me would be a re-release of "My Mistake" which shows off Cam's vocal talents very well and is very well written as well, I'd also be happy if they release "Half Broke Heart".

I think this just wasn't what radio wanted. The melody is very clunky and scattered, and the lyrics are kind of hard to get into immediately. It's a good song, but maye a bit too challenging for radio. I would be happy to see "My Mistake" re-released, but I really doubt that'll happen given the underperformance of "Mayday" and the fact that, in spite of its low peak, "My Mistake" ate up a lot of chart time the first go-round. Stranger things have happened, though.

In any case, let's just hope the CMT Music Awards (I know, I know) performance with Fifth Harmony can give her a boost. (I can already picture the amount of people shaking their heads at this post, because the CMT Awards are a very low-profile award show). BUT...I am desperate for Cam to continue rising.

I'm feeling like this one is nearing its end. It's so sad considering this is more than likely going to be my favorite song of the year by far. I was hoping for another #1, but it doesn't entirely shock me that this one had a struggle.
For the third single (which I would definitely think they'd go for at least one more), I can see a re-release of "My Mistake" happening realistically since it's not really known despite charting for awhile (where did it end up peaking?). I'd be okay with "Half Broke Heart", as I think that'd be the next best choice. Anything other I feel like would struggle. "Untamed" and "Runaway Train" I feel are a little too cluttered, "Village" and "Cold In California" are too slow, "Country Ain't Never Been Pretty" is fun, but it doesn't scream radio hit to me, and I don't think "Hungover on Heartache" and "Want It All" are strong enough to last on the charts. I think "My Mistake" is the most radio friendly out of the bunch.
I for one think this was an outstanding single choice, but I don't think the timing was right. I think following up "Burning House" with another ballad was the wrong move. I think this would have worked best as a third or fourth single (not counting "My Mistake"). I don't really agree with Ten Pound Hammer on his take on the lyrics and melody, as the lyrics are what drew me in the most in the first place, but I do agree this might have been a bit too challenging for radio.

maine "My Mistake" peaked at #52 on the Country Airplay chart. "Burning House" was released just under three months after it went for adds, so while I don't know how many weeks it racked up on the charts during its run, it couldn't have been very many. It really didn't do much at all, so I think a re-release of that one is totally plausible and would, imo, be a good idea (it's my favorite song of her's and it's a radio-friendly choice for sure).

Oh, I was thinking it got in the 40s or something. Then a "My Mistake" re-release is totally plausible. I don't see it having a former release affecting it if it only peaked at #52 in probably a two month lifespan.

The thing that's hurting this is the research, but that's not surprising given that Cam is a female... Still, I personally don't think this is even close to being done yet. Sure, it's moving very slowly, but the video just came out and Cam does have a high-profile CMT Awards performance coming up. I think Arista will stick with this one for a long time yet. It's just gonna move really slowly given how jam-packed the chart is right now. This just wrapped up its 16th week on the Billboard chart, which compares favorably to the chart runs for Kane Brown's "Used To Love You Sober" and Brothers Osborne's "21 Summer". And "Mayday" is actually outpacing Jordan Rager's "Southern Boy", Brandy Clark's "Girl Next Door", High Valley's "Make You Mine", Granger Smith's "If The Boot Fits", and Randy Houser's "Song Number 7". LoCash and Brett Young are really the only new artists that are outpacing Cam right now, other than obvious exceptions like Kelsea Ballerini (following up two #1 hits) and Tucker Beathard (current On The Verge artist). And there was simply no way that Cam could stay ahead or go up ahead of new singles from Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Florida Georgia Line, and Cole Swindell. New releases from Blake Shelton, Chris Young, and maybe a couple of others will move ahead of Cam pretty quickly as well, but again, that's to be expected. I doubt this will do as well as "Burning House" did, but I still think "Mayday" can be a moderate hit. I can see this having a chart run similar to William Michael Morgan's "I Met A Girl" (#28 after 34 weeks), Kip Moore's "Running For You" (#23 after 32 weeks), Frankie Ballard's "It All Started With A Beer" (#20 after 28 weeks), Justin Moore's "You Look Like I Need A Drink" (#19 after 30 weeks), or David Nail's "Night's On Fire" (#18 after 43 weeks)...basically somewhere in that range (of being in the 20's) after 30 weeks or so.

Behind the scenes for the music video:
I forgot who said it earlier, but Cam does kind of confirm that the video is sort of to the country landscape now where women don't get played as much as males.

Loved the performance. Cam sounded the best, even on "Work From Home".
It also would've been cool if Fifth Harmony had all worn yellow dresses to go along with Cam's color scheme, but that's just me nitpicking lol.

What I already mentioned in the CMT Awards thread, Cam getting only 1 minute to perform her own song in a duet that she was supposed to be highlighted was just a clear excuse to get a performance of "Work From Home"... she deserves a lot more than that. :(

I would expect this on a pop awards show, but on a country show the spotlight/highlight should be the country artist/song...

It would've been really nice if she'd been given a slot to just perform "Mayday" solo and in full, but I can't deny that I loved that mash-up nonetheless. I really liked how they sounded together, and I'm a Fifth Harmony fan, so naturally that helps as well. I also can't help but feel that performing with them can't be totally bad for her exposure though, seeing as they have a big fanbase and I can see Cam being the kind of artist who appeals to people cross-genres (I've already noticed that on this forum that she gets more attention outside of the country music circles exclusively, i.e.). So, I consider it a win on the whole.
